[And that's how Percy Jackson died.

There's barely any time to guard before Minato kicks him in the head and he blacks out, completely oblivious to his surroundings or even what happens next. He misses how they get out of the pit, he misses the return of Riptide, and he misses Minato shooting himself in the head (probably for the best???)

Instead, recarm eventually kicks in and his eyes twitch a little under the eyelids as he tries to rouse himself back into the world of the living. He doesn't move and he's perfectly content to lay on the ground, but he frowns anyway.]

Did it have to be a headshot?

[Yeah..... yeah that's some pretty fair grumbling. By the time Percy's alert again, Minato's got the Evoker tucked away, though he's still sitting next to Percy with a concerned look on his face.

Which quickly becomes something much more sheepish.]

Sorry... it was instinct.

[Percy was a fierce enough opponent that Minato fell into battle instincts!! Which is.

Both good and bad. Yeah.]

Are you feeling okay?

[He finally opens an eye and just sort of stares at him. Instinct, huh.

...to be fair, he'd probably do the same thing. It's not like he can actually be mad and it's why he works on sitting up opening the other eye.]

I'll be fine. You're not the first person to knock me out. [Once he's up though, there's a slight grin.] Nice job, dude. Looks like we completed the quest.

[Instinct... sometimes, you're just a teen who's gotta fight to save the world, right, Percy...]

I'm relieved for that, but I really don't think you should be telling me "good job" at a time like this...

[He relaxes at that, though.]

It was close, though; you're pretty good in a fight.

[Look it's fine? This is totally fine.]

Thanks. I've fought without Riptide before but it's still not my best effort. [The few times he's tried have been varying degrees of success, but hey, they're alive.] I used to get in fistsfights as a kid at school but it's been a while.

[...] Uh. How'd you revive me?

[Minato gives Percy a good, long look.

But they just fought each other in the pit, and it's not like his powers are really a secret here. It just still feels odd to come right out to say it.

Which is probably why he wiggles his fingers at Percy and delivers it dryly:]

Magic.

[Thanks, Minato.]

[ffs Minato. If Percy weren't, like, himself he might actually question that further but he's just going to nod along.]

Got it. We have healers at Camp who work just as fast but I never thought about other people's magic that much. [Which like maybe he should, given he's seen other kinds of magic even at home. But that requires understanding it and that's Complicated.]

[He was mostly joking, so he kind of is surprised Percy lets him off with just that.

Beggars can't be choosers, though, so he will take it.]

Yeah, there seem to be a lot of different sorts of magic here, but... [A shrug.] It's for the better, I think. Everyone's got some sort of skill to contribute.

[Either way, he will offer Percy a hand so he can help him to his feet properly.]

Ready to get out of here?

[He'll take that hand and haul himself up, thanks buddy. It's something he wants to think more about (magic, people's skills, stuff like that), but it can wait.]

Yeah, definitely. That's not a bad idea before it decides we need to go back for round two.

Yeah, let's definitely avoid that.

[NO THANKS.

And thus, the two blue protags head back out the woods and to the town, and a quest is victoriously completed, sans a couple of bruises.
