QUEST 21 - MINATO

[hydrokinetics]

[ooc: Info here!]

["The Pit" is about as ominous as it gets and while Percy's wary about it, he figures it's better to actually check it out himself. If he can get a feel for it, maybe warning the town can be a thing.

What he hadn't counted on, however, was Minato. Minato's not that far ahead of him and while Percy is usually fine minding his own business, Minato's one of the people in this town he's grown to like.]

Hey dude. Do you know anything about this pit thing?

[messianic]

[Because personally, I think this is hilarious--Minato's definitely familiar with the pit (an asskicking by Guren made sure of that), and as soon as Percy is asking about it, he whips around...

But.

They're just far enough into the woods at this point, even just in the fringe, for the quest to decide they've met its requirements, and then said pit is opening right up beneath them and they're falling.

Dammit...!

So yeah. Welcome to the pit, boys.]

[hydrokinetics]

[ANNND FALLING! They're falling and Percy's not yelling but he's trying to grapple for anything to grab.]

You could have just said yes! [But they land and he pauses long enough to focus on Minato.] Are you okay? [He'll notice the lack of a certain magic pen in a moment.]

[messianic]

[Ow.

Minato landed on his ass last time, and he landed on his ass this time, too. Slowly, he pushes himself up to his feet, sighing, eyes shut.]

Yeah... thanks.

[UGHHGHG.]

So... I've been on this quest once before. [Dislike.] You're not going to like it.

[hydrokinetics]

[He landed on his feet sheerly by coincidence and years of falling a lot, so. He's up and he's glancing around the pit.]

...how much am I going to not like it?

[He can hear distinct cheering though and he looks up suddenly as his expression shifts into one of irritation.] Really?

[messianic]

Yeah, really.

[Minato sighs again, but just stretches a little. It's obvious they're going to have to do this, so...]

We won't be able to leave until only one of us is left standing and conscious.

[hydrokinetics]

[There's a sigh as well.]

What kind of a quest is that? [A gesture to the stands.] And where did they even come from?

[Minato likely won't have answers, but Percy's not thrilled.] Does it have to be somebody knocked unconscious or could it just be like wrestling where it's whoever can't get back up?

[messianic]

[Yep... Percy's just getting a bunch of shrugs in response. Minato sure as hell doesn't know!!]

I'm not sure... Ichinose-san just kind of knocked us all out immediately.

[So.

Yeah.]

We'll find out, I guess. They won't let us leave until we do something like that.

[hydrokinetics]

[WHAT GOOD ARE YOU, MINATO...]

...maybe...let's not do that. [Hm.] Alright. I can probably swing at you with my sword a couple of times and make that count. You can dodge, right?

[Give him a moment to jam his hand into his pocket before his eyes widen. Annnd cue the frantic pocket-patting.]

QUEST 21 - DAMIAN

[ooc: Info here!]

[He absolutely regrets ever telling Damian that he can do another quest with him to prove himself. This was not the set of quests they should be doing that for, but backing out would be even worse. He's not exactly reluctant when he meets Damian at the edge of the woods, but he's already thinking of a strategy in case they have to bail.]

You're sure about this?

[bittybat]

[Unfortunately, Percy made a deal with, like, one of the world's worst people when it comes to retreating, backing out, or backing down. RIP.]

I'm sure. Why? Are you getting cold feet now, Jackson? I can go easy on you if you'd like.

[Please kick his ass in the Pit.]

[hydrokinetics]

No way. What happened to not going easy on me? [He grins.] I'm not that good at backing down anyway.

How long have you been training anyway? [Toward the woods they go.]

[bittybat]

[Into the woods. Hopefully, Percy is ready to fall down into a hole that opens up into a fairy coliseum. How nice. How familiar!] Good. Neither am I. [He's pleased by Percy's determination.]

I've been training since I was able to walk. Thirteen years give or take a year or two.

[hydrokinetics]

[No he's already fought in a coliseum once, never again?? But alas.]

Wait how old are you? [What? That math doesn't check out with what he thought because like. That would be basically right out of the womb? Shit, what?] Five years, give or take.

[It's an answer to an unasked question. He's about to ask something else but it's about that point that, yeah, the ground opens beneath them and crumbles under their feet. There's an agitated sort of yell from Percy as he feels himself falling and he attempts to grab the ledge of the pit to hold himself up.

It doesn't work. They're definitely falling. Farewell, everyone.]

[bittybat]

Thirteen. [It took him a few years to walk... But listen.] Only five? Come on, Jackson, you're going to have to up your ga--

[Oh. Shit.]

JACKSON!

[He bends forward as if to dart to reach to grab Percy, but the ground simply crumbles away, and he back pedals, thinking it'd be more helpful if he's up here and can figure out how to get Percy--

The ground just keeps crumbling, much too fast to dodge. It disappears below his feet, and he also tries to claw the edge to no avail. Bye. He Alice in Wonderlands it all the way down, hopefully not landing on Percy when they reach the bottom. The drop, thankfully, wasn't high enough to do a lot of damage.

If so, he better land on Percy to break the fall, or he'll be hurting.]

[hydrokinetics]

[In a moment that will probably piss Damian off, Percy lands in a crouch and luckily it wasn't far enough to shatter bones. Instead, it gives him a split-second to immediately pop back up and dart forward to catch Damian before he totally bites it.]

Gotcha. [Neither of them broke anything, but the top of the pit is a little too far for either of them to crawl their way out.] You alright?

[He's also quick to set Damian down as he peers through the semi-dark of the pit. It'll grow lighter if they step forward but for now he's not going anywhere.] I'm gonna take a wild guess and say this is the Pit.

[bittybat]

[Okay, sure, he's a little ticked off he had to be caught, but only because he's supposed to be trained. He's still human. Thankfully, he's spent enough time with Jon now that being "saved" is something he lets slide off his back.

His stance drops just a bit into something ready when he's put back on his feet.] Astute observation. [His eyes lift toward the hole they left behind. He doesn't know if Percy can leap and bound like a Super, and he knows for sure he can't either.

And he doesn't have the grapple.]

I'm fine. There was a surprising lack of spikes at the bottom for a trap. And it opens wider--it isn't a hole.

QUEST 22 - IZUKU

[Given the fact that Percy and Izuku are very similar people, it honestly made plenty of sense for them to work on a boat together. Percy told himself it was more research for the ocean itself, but at the same time he was mostly curious what sort of reward this quest would net them.

It's early when he meets Izuku at the harbor and he's on a dock with his arms folded over his chest, examining the landscape in front of him.]

So...if we're building a boat, where are we getting the materials for this thing?

[inheritance]

We have a few empty buildings set up as depots. It was one of my classmates' ideas when she was still around.

[Izuku smiles slightly, remembering just how much Yaoyorozu had done before she left.]

There's a lot of wood pieces there that we can use to make something.

[hydrokinetics]

Smart thinking. [Part of him thinks it's something Annabeth would have done, too. There's an almost-matching smile though and he gestures for Izuku to follow him.]

You've got superstrength, right? We can grab what we need and bring it right back here to start building. How far are these depots?

[inheritance]

Yup... as long as we have something to tie everything together with, I should be able to carry it all back without issues.

They're not too far from here. I'll show you where they are. [With a "come on" gesture, Izuku trots off in the direction of the other districts.] So... how good are you at making boats?

[hydrokinetics]

There's a bunch of rope around Bluo by the docks if you know where to look. Or I could have Mrs. O'Leary fetch while we grab the wood. [He begins to follow though.]

Truthfully? Never built one in my life, but boats are kind of my specialty. [And because Izuku knows:] My powers allow me to know them and control them.

[inheritance]

This shouldn't be too bad, then. [Izuku looks relieved.] At least one of us will know what they're doing.

Alright, let's fetch the wood while Mrs. O'Leary gets some rope. If, um, she doesn't mind helping us with that. [Because her feelings are important, too!]

[hydrokinetics]

We'll figure it out together. [But there's a nod before he turns and whistles loudly.

The earth rumbles and shakes, ground quaking under their feet as Mrs. O'Leary suddenly bursts out of the shadows and lops her way to Percy's side. Her tail's going crazy and she barks cheerfully.

She also barks upon seeing Izuku and immediately moves to greet him by licking him. Gross.]

Good to see you too, girl. Be nice to Izuku. [He smirks though.] Wanna help us with a project? [A woof.] We need some rope. Fetch?

[And there's an eager bark.]

Oof! [Izuku laughs when she greets him, looking pleased despite all the dog drool. It's not every day you get to be friends with a hellhound, okay!]

Thanks for helping us, girl! [She gets a scritch behind the ear for that. What a good dog.]
