[There's a forum for this. There is an actual, dedicated place on the forum for this, what Okuyasu is about to do - and it's even easier now that everyone knows what their mystery digits are in real color! But Okuyasu never does things by halves, or rather, does things the normal way—
So.
Being as he is a Blue Guy, and he needs a Red Guy and a Yellow Guy to do the quest that sounds the fastest (somehow, he's determined this), he's taken up a spot some yards away from the well in the middle of town to stand with his arms crossed seriously and stare down the Ruga and Flavo districts in turn. Waiting, patiently, for someone to come out.
When someone does turn up, he doesn't wait until they've approached him to just start, uh, raising his voice and calling down the street—]
How convenient for Okuyasu, that not only one, but two people happen to be wandering through. And both of them are from different districts as well!
Of course, Kyrie isn't exactly fond of being shouted down, either. He stops mid-sentence (sorry, Caramia) to shoot a look to the side at the source of the noise. It's not from someone he knows, nor does he immediately recognize him as anyone significant. He's just the Big Loud Dude who happens to be standing by the well, and really, what better title could anyone ask for?
"...Evidently, not from yours." Very helpful, Kyrie. "Why do you need to know? Do you intend to separate the districts?"
Doubtful... But hey, it's happened once before, hasn't it, Caramia?
[ Hey now, don’t say that like it’s Caramia’s fault. He didn’t want things to go to shit and everyone to start shooting guns at each other.
That was besides the point for now. Caramia jumped slightly at the sudden loud (maybe it was just loud to him? It was hard to tell sometimes) voice that demanded attention immediately...! It was a good thing Kyrie stayed level headed enough to reply fairly calmly— albeit a bit dickishly— because Caramia had immediately taken the space between Okuyasu and Kyrie to take a bristly, protective stance, hand settled against his pistol holster.
He relaxed, of course, when he confirmed this was just a kid and he was not a threat. ]
Kyrie... [ They just got quests based on their respective town colors, or... hex codes? Whatever. Point being that that’s obviously why he was asking. Kyrie knew that, and was just giving this kid a hard time, wasn’t he? ] Red and Yellow respectively, though you’d probably do better introducing yourself first, signore.
[Okuyasu, for his part, doesn't seem deterred by any lack of enthusiasm or... unexpected questions.]
Am I gonna what? What for?
[To be fair, they kind of already are separated by color if not by law or something, but Okuyasu doesn't care one lick for any of that, so never mind it. He marches away from the well and closer to the two men, though not quite close enough to go from Loud to "reasonable conversation distance" volume.
It's fine.] I'm Okuyasu Nijimura, from blue. [And then, abruptly much less loud and serious--] Yo, are you guys Italian? Sweet.
[okuyasu "i know one whole italian guy at home" nijimura, reporting]
Caramia, you can't just give out information like that...! Honestly... This is why he's the don, and Kyrie is the consigliere. It's like goddamn amatuer hour up in here.
Still, it's admittedly a bit of a relief to have that idiot so ready to defend the pair of them if need be. It puts him more at ease, and he relaxes his own stance as Caramia does.
"Okuyasu...?" He remembers that name. If his disappointment shows in his tone (and it surely does), he's not going to apologize for it. "You were the one who wanted to dig beneath the well."
He'll let Caramia handle the question of their home, because honestly, he's not going to let this part go.
[ He can give out whatever information he pleases, damn it. He's the boss.
Still, that name didn't really ring a bell with Caramia, but he wasn't all too surprised Kyrie knew of him. Who's surprised Kyrie spent his time lurking on the forum? Not this lion.
And unlike Kyrie, he's not going to be an ass about introductions. Okuyasu even got a pleasant smile from him. ]
Nice to meet you, Okuyasu. I'm Caramia, and my impolite friend here is Kyrie.
[ Caramia didn't bother answering his other question. It was best to let him assume he was, in fact, Italian, and not have to go into the whole explaining that he was A.) a lion, and B.) not from Earth, but rather a place called "Oz". Sometimes, that kind of stuff got exhausting. ]
[Okuyasu waits... and waits a few extra, somewhat awkward seconds for an answer to his question, because he's pretty sure that was an Italian word, but no one seems to want to answer his very simple inquiry. Okay. Sure... he can go with it... okay.
So, uh.]
Yeah... that's me. I drew a picture, too.
[He frowns; you could hear a pin drop for how he's actually quiet now instead of shouting down the street.]
So you guys know shit about this story quest, or nah?
Alright, look, Kyrie honestly expected Caramia to answer that one. He even casts a quick glance his way, as if to judge him for not answering it. Oh well. At least Okuyasu can roll with the punches.
"Yes, I suppose by definition alone it was a picture."
It's unfortunately something he can recall quite clearly. Even more unfortunately though, is that his own expression only hardens as Okuyasu continues. The story quest... That certainly doesn't sound like something he wants to deal with right now, and yet here he seems to be. In fact, if he weren't so sure that Caramia would tug him right back--snapping something like, "Oi, wait, Kyrie--! Don't you think we should at least try?" like the optimistic moron he is--he might very well try to walk away.
"...What we know for certain is going to be limited to was was provided." He sounds tired but you know what, he can bullshit his way through this, surely. "But if you're asking if we have theories, that's another topic entirely."
[ Sorry, Okuyasu, it doesn't look like either one of these nerds are on the same page. It's not Caramia's turn to explain they're basically magic aliens for the billionth time, Kyrie. Geez!!
Caramia's actually surprised Kyrie didn't try walking away. Not that it would've gone differently than what he predicted, but all the same, he could've easily talked his way out of it, regardless. After all, Kyrie's not exactly known for trying his best to not make himself out to be a jerk in front of people. ]
We could figure something out, I'm sure. It's not the most straightforward of those that were given, but probably the simplest. [ Plus, it had something to do with stories, and Caramia was quite fond of those. ]
[It's 100% time to go kill a wolf. One very illuminating forum discussion later, in which Okuyasu was definitely invited and not shoving his way in with two of his... favorite people (the two most different people in the town?? great mysteries of our time.) -- it's definitely wolf-killing time.
Or: it's Okuyasu, leaning against the well, waiting for these cool kids to show up.
He will, indeed, start waving and shouting when he sees each of them. Behold:]
Hey! Over here! [there is only one well to meet at, okuyasu] C'mon, let's go!!
[Her friend said to meet him at the well, and that's exactly what Ochako is going to do. She comes jogging right out of the Ruga district, helmet tucked under one arm as she looks around for the other two. And—oh, there's her buddy! Hard to miss at the best of times, impossible to miss when he's, you know. Yelling that loudly.]
Okuyasu! [She gives him a wave with her free arm, excitedly picking up her pace as she heads straight for him.] Do you have everything you need?
[Well, this might as well be a babysitting job, but Nanjo was determined to make the most out of this trip. Which is probably why he finally arrived last, but not without reason.
The noise grew louder until the roar of a Harley Davidson could be heard, the helmet man making his way over before turning the engine off and removing his helmet. The black hair slowly pulled upward before setting into its normal position.
Guess who.]
You must be Miss Ochako. As I said over the network, I am pleased to meet you.
[And here come the friends now!! Okuyasu does not have a helmet, or actually, anything at all - he has The Hand in his back pocket, metaphorically speaking, so why bring anything else to help kill wolves - but he still nods to Ochako's question. Yes, very prepared. Totally.]
Yeah, I... uh... hold on, are you seeing this?
[There is a motorcycle dude coming up fast, quite possibly the coolest thing that has happened in Shitsville so far, and distracting enough for Okuyasu to just stop and stare in wonder.
And then it turns out to be Nanjo and he immediately feels betrayed. What the hell!] Since when do you have a bike?!
[That's, um, quite the entrance. Ochako blinks at the newcomer as he removes his helmet, giving him a polite nod once he addresses her. He looks kind of... stuffy? Definitely not the type of person she'd ever picture riding a motorcycle through this weird town, but she's just going to shove that thought right out of her mind before she ends up laughing at him. First impressions are important!!]
It's nice to meet you, too. Are you... bringing that with us, though? Into the forest?
[Going fast would be Cool, but this just seems dangerous.]
It showed up in my house when we first arrived, but I never bothered to use it until now. It seemed a waste of gasoline.
[Which is way too perfectly logical and god why does he always have a perfect answer. He scoffs at Okuyasu.]
And to answer you question; this particular model is just a few months ago. I have had my proper riding license since I was seventeen. [He wanted to try out something new that 'normal' people do, then realized he liked it a lot.] Did my outfit not tip you off? [He's walking around in expensive biker leather. Thank you for not laughing at him (for now) new person.]
Actually this was to test out something. Miss Ochako, as we discussed, your talents includes making objects float correct? If we could make this float, this removes both gravity and friction from the equation, and could perhaps this could aid us in our quest.
[Don't ask him about outfits, he's covered in dollar signs and lives in a town with a bunch of people who wear crop tops year-round and grown-ass adults who wear school uniforms...]
So we're gonna ride the bike, right?! You're not gonna be a dick and make us walk, huh?
[He could not be more excited about this. Let him ride the bike!!]
[Okuyasu can bounce around in excitement all he likes, but Ochako can't help but to frown as she gives the motorcycle a quick once-over. This is a big use of her quirk! And motorcycles can be so dangerous! Hmm. Which is more important: having fun or being... safe...]
I can, I guess. If all three of us were on it, it wouldn't float away... [Maybe. Hopefully. She shoots Nanjo a worried look.] It might be harder to steer it, though? And how would we stop it?
[Restoring the written word seems like the most important task from our nameless FFFFFFoverlord. The question then is who is the best individuals assigned to blue and red to figure out the riddle with her? Well, obviously, that would be Guren and Okuyasu. One was old and wise and the other thought outside the box. Clearly they could figure it out together.
It was easy enough to get in contact with Okuyasu and meet up but the sticking point was Guren. He had a habit of acting like a scrooge and not playing along after all. A sneak attack was the only way.
So, that's why Okuyasu and Emma are outside of the Ruga townhouse. Knocking. Loudly.]
[It is worth noting that Okuyasu is here because Emma insisted he come along for he's-not-sure-what, and he's standing outside this guy's house for who-knows-what-reason, and he really hasn't filled in any of the blanks but instead just dimly marvelled at how many people just turn up and demand he come with them to do weird shit these days.
Very different. Very new. He's standing there behind her, a little off to the side, in his very best arms-folded Thug Pose, but he still leans down to ask her,]
Who the hell is this guy?
[It is also worth noting that he does this probably the precise moment Guren opens the door. Who???]
[There's a familiar child's voice at his door, and just when he sat down to think about taking a nap. He sighs to himself, but pushes up to go answer it. It's Emma, after all, and if she came all the way here, there's probably a reason for it.
Still, pulling open the door and seeing not only her, but some taller guy hunched over and asking who he was— ah, he's pretty sure he was one of the guys jumping around in the well, actually— it gets a frown out of him.]
...
[He doesn't want any girl scout cookies?? He places his free hand on his hip.] What do you want?
[More of just a blunt question for the point rather than anything aggressive, but he still does glance between Emma and Okuyasu questioningly. They're an odd pair... a thug and a little girl...]
[Nothing could be more natural than this pairing, truly. Guren is the weird one for questioning it.
Emma spreads her arms wide, a welcoming gesture between Okuyasu and Guren. Clearly she isn't letting the questions of her companions rain on her parade.]
This is Mister Guren, he helps around town, and this is Okuyasu, a fun and eccentric guy! I hope you've both seen the new messages by our mysterious host on the forum. It looks like one of the rewards is the writing around town which I'm particularly interested in. So! Red, blue, and yellow- [she points to each of the three in turn, ending on herself.] We should be able to work on it together I think. I bet we all have a different understanding of what a story is so we should be able to figure out what it's "worth", or so I think.
[Well... I hope you're all happy with her tl;dr. She's beaming between the two of them, because no is not an acceptable answer.]
[Did she, or didn't she for real?? Either way, Okuyasu definitely believes he was not informed of any of this, and is heartily disappointed with the answer to the mystery of why he's followed Emma into the red zone.
So can he say no......
also "a fun and eccentric guy" say it to his face]
the real story was the friends we made along the way
[He listens quietly, at least, and he finds that he doesn't mind her words at all. Those quests— he was thinking about them too, of course. The one with stories had been a different one, certainly obscure, but Guren could think of a few ways to handle it.
He pushes his door open a little more, gesturing for them to come in, if they'd like to. The wallpaper is now a hideous shade of hot pink, and looking into the kitchen will show gross green tile, to not-match.]
Sure, that sounds fine. [And now the guy in full military uniform is fine with story telling, too!! It's 2v1. He glances to Okuyasu again, and maybe he feels a little grateful that he's clearly not remembered. He'll go ahead and let Emma convince him, so he glances back down to her.]
You're outside so much, I'm surprised you saw those at all. How do you think we should work on it? [Tell him your ideas, child, let them grow. Talk to him about story sharing.]
[Aw! Don't be a wet blanket, Oku. Her praise is legitimate and caring. In fact, Emma swings around to grab his hand and hold it with determination in her eyes.]
It's an important quest, don't you think? Plus I think you'll be vital in figuring it out! I really want your input, so please help us.
[Actual truth since his straight forward personality is refreshing. She's already been overthinking what the "worth" of a story is. She tugs on his hand a little, seeing if he will follow her into the house. At which time she turns back to Guren with a smile.]
I make sure to check the forum at least! I like reading what everyone is up to.
[He'll be the wettest blanket he can if he wants!! This sappy shit... It's lucky that she plans ahead and grabs his hand, because walking off was definitely in the game plan. Literally holding him there does more to keep his attention than trying to say his input is important... c'mon...
He's here, he's inside...!! In the end it was Okuyasu who was the little baby child.]
Let's cut the crap and get to the point, I got stuff to do.
