[At any point during the month you may come across the community gardens in the Town and see a couple of different set-ups.

For one thing, someone created a sign painted with purple paint that reads "FLOWER CROWNS HERE."

For another thing, there are bushels and bouquets of different kinds of plants and flowers that have their color restored that have been gathered.

And finally, there are smaller slips of paper that read "RED", "YELLOW", and "BLUE."

At least once a day people passing by the garden will find John sitting there and monitoring the situation. Anyone who approaches will be greeted with a large grin and a wave.]

You saw the forum, right? I thought we could all make this a little easier on each other.

[Keigo watches more carefully than he thought he would ever watch anything involving flowers.]

Things have been pretty good. The worst thing that happened to me the past few weeks was failing a quest because magic didn't count for shooting an apple off my head.

Even though it should have! I still took my life into my hands!

What? Why that's absurd. If the apple is shot off then who cares how it happened? [ she huffs, indignant on his behalf. ] Sometimes the higher powers of this world are absurd in their machinations.

[He's so happy to have a sympathetic audience.]

And it wasn't just that I didn't get a reward when we failed. I got a ribbon calling me a loser!

Well - that's just rude.

[ poor soul... he seems to always get the short end of the proverbial stick when she considers their past talks. ]

Don't worry though. I'll be more than happy to help you through this quest. No ribbon can tell you what your merit is truly worth.

That's right! I'm better than any ribbon!

[And he will pay closer attention to how she's making her crown from now on. He got a little distracted by sharing his story.]

What about you? Have you done anything interesting lately?

[ good news is that she's already a third of the way done. she's done far too many of these silly little crowns as a child, and though it's been ages the lessons still stick with her. as for herself... ]

The usual. Life here can be on the quiet side with the occasional attack of monsters. I defeated the chimera, plucked a strand of unicorn hair... I also made an apple explode with an arrow, but that wasn't intentional.

I found a unicorn, too. [Twice, even! He was the unicorn quest master.]

Did the person you were shooting at think they died when the apple exploded on them?

[Not that...anyone...would ever think the wet apple chunks were brains and bleeding. Not at all.]

Oh, no, but he was very cross with me. I can't blame him for that. I didn't think the arrow would be so powerful.

[His thoughts towards Maribelle were not this forgiving.]

No, that's not true. I had an idea of what would happen... I just thought I could control it.

[ link had used the light arrows from the bow before, and those dealt extraordinary damage to ganon. she thought it'd be safer to use than a regular arrow, but that wasn't wise of her in retrospect. ]

Either way he took it in stride. Okuyasu is that sort of person.

Okuyasu is? He never takes it in stride when he talks to me.

But if you thought you could control it, that's still not like you meant to do something dangerous to him. [Begrudgingly, because he still wants to be annoyed, but it's hard to do that with Zelda being so nice in front of him.] I guess that's what happened with Maribelle's magic, too.

[ hm. maybe it's just a difference in dynamic then... but saying that might hurt keigo's feelings. ]

So you did the quest with Maribelle. [ she's seen maribelle's magic up close - it's definitely powerful. ] I hope you don't hold anything against her. I'm sure she thought like you that magic would count toward the completion.

No, that wasn't her fault at all! I blame whoever's in charge. If a quest has rules like no magically shooting apples off your head, then it should say that instead of making us guess!

[Keigo suddenly grabs a handful of flowers and waves them for emphasis.]

Like the worthy part of this quest! Is it enough that I've decided what makes someone worthy, or am I going to fail because someone wasn't the right kind of worthy?

Oh careful - [ and she goes to take his wrists in her grip swiftly ] - you don't want to ruin them!

I understand your grievances quite well. However, I think it's more the spirit of what we do than ticking off a quest complete that's important.

Sorry. [Somewhere between "a girl just touched me!!" and realizing he's damaged enough flowers accidentally today without doing it on purpose, he loosens his grip.]

At least we don't seem to get really bad consequences for the quests we can choose whether we do or not. [An insulting ribbon is better than turning invisible for failing a quest.]

[ and her hands in turn return back to her lap. sometimes you need to act in the spur of a moment. ]

That is at least a good benefit. I'm beginning to realize not every quest is easily accomplished. [ she frowns, eyes downcast. ] There's one about people fighting in a pit this month. Absolutely by no means can I fight anyone here.

What's up with that one, anyway? One day we're supposed to give flower crowns to the best people and then the next day fight them in a pit?

I can't fight anyone here because I'm just a normal human. [He looks at her a little confused.] You'd have a chance, though, wouldn't you?

Not at all. I wasn't allowed to learn how to fight. My father forbade it.

[ she had to focus on training her spiritual powers, which aren't really all that useful in combat against anything that isn't a monster. ]

But that's alright. Everyone has their strengths, and no one will ever be good at everything. As long as we take care of the things we do excel at, our community will thrive.

[ and speaking of which - her flower crown is now complete. hmm... ]

Here. [ she lifts the crown and offers it to him. ] Consider yourself worthy for your hard efforts.

You won't hear any complaints from me about not fighting! I guess I just thought everyone with some magic skills could use them that way.

[He's still working on his own list of things he can excel at to help the town. Crown making is looking to be a no, but at least with Zelda's instruction, he's pretty sure his next effort will be an improvement.

Keigo takes the crown like someone who's afraid it's only going to be a limited time offer.]
