[OPEN] Flower gleam and glow

WHAT: Flower crowns! Teach each other to make flower crowns, exchange them with each other, succeed in questing

[At any point during the month you may come across the community gardens in the Town and see a couple of different set-ups.

For one thing, someone created a sign painted with purple paint that reads "FLOWER CROWNS HERE."

For another thing, there are bushels and bouquets of different kinds of plants and flowers that have their color restored that have been gathered.

And finally, there are smaller slips of paper that read "RED", "YELLOW", and "BLUE."

At least once a day people passing by the garden will find John sitting there and monitoring the situation. Anyone who approaches will be greeted with a large grin and a wave.]

You saw the forum, right? I thought we could all make this a little easier on each other.

[Grab some flowers and some friends! Questing has never been so easy.]

[Hunk! Buddy! Ochako isn't the sneakiest person in the world, but she still makes an effort to slide up behind him and... drop a neatly made flower crown right on to his head. This is what he gets for focusing so intently on his own project.]

I hope you like dandelions! I know they're everywhere, but they're such a pretty yellow, you know? They reminded me of you!

[And the crown she's placed on his head does indeed contain dandelions, carefully woven through its ivy base.]

[What is this. What is this, it's nice is what it is. He starts a little at first before he realises what's on his head and he tilts his head back to see the culprit and get a better look at the crown both.]

Aw man, thanks!

You got me both for yellow and for lions. [He'll probably elaborate on the lions thing in a sec once he's done checking out his new crown.]

Two for two, huh? I'm glad!

[Ochako drops down right beside him, genuinely happy to see that he seems pleased with his new accessory. He can take all the time in the world to examine it! Flower crowns are her specialty, you see, so it's expertly made.]

So... does that mean that lions are your favorite animal? That would've been really nice to know back when we first met.

[Do you remember those dumb surveys, Hunk? She remembers those dumb surveys.]

[Naturally, he remembers! Good times.]

Nah, dogs are actually my favourite. But back home--

[Hunk thinks about how to word it. There's no, like, normal and not-weird and magical way to word it:] I pilot a giant yellow robot lion?

[Hmm. Hmm. Give her a second here...

...Yeeeeeah, that doesn't help at all. She blinks at him, expression blank, before deciding to go with the very smart response of—]

Really? A robot lion? [Okay, hold up, she can do better than this.] How big... is it?

[Why does this sound like something straight out of an anime??? The only reason she doesn't ask this is because she's POLITE.]

Big. Like. Really big.

[Hunk considers the best thing to compare Yellow to. Uh...]

Okay. Bigger than a building. Like that building over there, Yellow's head'd be over it.

[He gestures with one of his hands toward one of the nearest houses to the garden, two storeys at least.] I think Yellow might be even bigger than that.

[Ochako comes from a world populated by superheroes, but giant robots? Wild. There's even a second where she wonders if Hunk is simply joking around, but he... does seem to be taking this pretty darn seriously. He's not snickering, at any rate, so she studies the house he's pointing to and tries to seriously picture a huge, yellow... robo-lion...

Okay, now she's getting excited, and she can't help but to grin.]

That sounds amazing! And you seriously pilot something that huge? [Have a light, friendly punch to the arm.] Hunk, you're so cool! What do you pilot it for, though? Do you have giant villains to fight in your world?

[What else would a robo-lion be used for?]

[Hunk laughs and shrugs his shoulders as he thinks about the most easygoing way possible to word "saving the galaxy".]

Space, actually. We're out in space, though sometimes on alien planets. I think otherwise I'd like destroy way too much things accidentally.

Sometimes we have to fight other giant robots or spaceships or parts of enemy fleets? There's these bad dudes trying to take over the galaxy, you know. Conquer everything. [Though is it bad dude? Uh. They took down Zarkon but there's still bad people out there, so he'll stick with bad dudes. That's universal enough.]

[Space. Space. S P A C E. Ochako's eyes widen as she sucks in a deep breath, because space is just? It's her thing? She's read a billion books about space, she's memorized a million facts about space, and Hunk has actually explored the stars she loves so very, very much—

But ah, the rest of that sounds... cool, yet scary. Conquering is rarely good! Give her a second to attempt to temper her excitement, please.]

So you do fight villains. It sounds like you fight a lot of them, too. [Fleets are surely made up of more than three or four people. Hmm.] It must be tough, but I'm glad everyone in your world has you there to help them.

[And she could leave it there! She probably should leave it there, but listen, Ochako is a space nerd. She can't help but to look at him and (dreamily) ask:]

But what's it like up there, Hunk? When you're not fighting people, I mean. When you can just... watch the stars.

[Her reaction pings Hunk a little and he unconsciously sits himself up straighter like he can sense a fellow space enthusiast. After all, he always wanted to go to space, be a mechanic on a spaceship though his future took him surprising places. And yeah it's tough sometimes but.]

When we're not fighting alien fleets or, like, answering distress beacons and that... it's amazing.

There's not a lot of time to watch the stars, but it's huge out there. So beyond what anyone's been able to accurately measure, so so beyond the scope of what people thought. Man. I mean, I get sidetracked by the fact that we're fighting but all of the stuff we've gotten to learn is amazing.

[She looks up at the grey sky, trying to imagine what it must be like to leave Earth and zip between the stars.]

Exploring everything sounds— [Hmm. Words are hard to come by, especially for something as rad as that, so she simply shakes her head before looking back over at him.] I love watching the sky at night, you know? Stars, comets, planets... everything looks so beautiful from down here, but I wish that I could see it all up close. I'd stay up there forever!

How's space travel going where you're from?

[His expression is openly curious, though he ends up glancing up at the sky as well. He spent such a long time in space that getting here was a bit of a weird adjustment, especially when the sky wasn't super normal when they got here.]

We were still working on it—like, expeditions and stuff but we ended up with machines and with aliens who did actually have space travel figured out. Wormholes and everything to jump across galaxies.

[Aliens. She has, like, fifty questions she wants to ask about that, but she takes a second to seriously consider his question. Space travel in the MHA-verse...]

We're still working on it, too? It's—

[Well, it isn't a top priority! When almost everyone on earth develops cool new abilities, technology unrelated to said abilities definitely takes a backseat... but explaining that is tough.]

...If we don't get help, I think we'll need a lot more time. [To put it lightly.] But who knows? Maybe aliens will visit us next.

[Hopefully they're friendly!]

Cross your fingers for the good ones. I mean, I always figured they were out there because space is way too big, but wow are they ever out there.

[He laughs and rubs the side of his neck.]

You'll get there... Do you want to do it? Be a space explorer? I always gunned for a mechanic myself, I just happened into the exploring and saving things bit.

[That's a pretty big question, honestly! If she'd been faced with this dilemma a few months before, the first question out of her mouth would have been, "How much does it pay? Now, though, she tilts her head to one side, humming quietly as she gives it some serious thought.]

It does sound fun, [she slowly admits, still lost in her star-filled daydream,] but there are so many people to help on earth. I want to save as many of them as I can, you know? So maybe I'll leave the exploring to other people and just focus on being the best pro hero I can be!

[What did she say? Pro hero?? His mouth falls open, eyebrows up. Like a professional superhero, what.]

So, wait, you're doing hero stuff on earth? Saving the planet one person at a time? What kind of thing is, uh-- what's it like being a pro hero?

[Well, she doesn't think her chosen occupation is quite as nifty as space explorer, but she laughs all the same.]

I don't know yet? I'm still in school! But I did work with pro heroes during my internship. [Which didn't go... super well, but like he needs to know that.] Fighting people with different quirks can be tricky, and villains are scary, but helping people is always worth it. It's nice to know that you've made a difference!

Oh yeah. For all that it can be scary to fight sometime or all the time, if you get to help someone...

[Hunk gestures, his expression soft.] It's a great feeling.
