[ It's only taken a few days to realize what's going on in the woods. Because Maya is a journalist and journalists are all about gathering information, she's half-tempted to check out the woods herself. But her arm is only newly out of its sling, so she's opting not to go charge into The Pit herself.

Instead, if you exit the woods, and you look as though your ass has been thoroughly kicked, you'll find this young woman waving an arm over her head to get your attention. ]

[ Good random day of August, person who Maya happens to familiar with! Or maybe she has no idea who you are, that might actually be a real possibility. But all the same, she's grinning at you and extending an arm, on which is draped no less than eight flower crowns of varying designs. ]

Take your pick! Free of charge, of course! One of these really has to bring out your eyes, right?


[ DON'T DO THE CINNAMON CHALLENGE - OPEN ]

[ Look... just. Look. She got a crate full of blue cinnamon, and now she's wandering around with her arms full of jars of the stuff, smiling wryly when she makes eye contact. ]

So I know it's not as great as fish or chicken or whatever most people ended up with, but if you want a sweet seasoning, I'd totally be willing to part with a jar!

I've got some friends that live here, so I come by at least once a day.

[Of course, with the box in his arms and the items inside, it does look more like he's moving in.]

[He glances down at the items in his arms, smiling a little nervously.]

Something like that. It looks like his roommate disappeared to who knows where and he's the kind of person who needs someone around so...

Got it! So you're being a great friend.

[NERVOUS. LAUGHTER. He might be going a little pink with a strained smile. Why do you have to put it like that.]

Heh. Yeah. I guess.

Well, then! To celebrate your new stay for however long-- [ she sure is brandishing a jar of that bright blue cinnamon. ]

[GOD NO. Riku would deny every little bit of it. He hasn't been a good friend to people in a very long time.

He blinks and tilts his head at the offered jar, a little confused before.]

Uhhh... what is it?

Cinnamon!

[ Look, it's safe. Perfectly safe, unless you happen to inhale it strongly. ]

[Staring at it. Because... it's blue. He's dealt with a lot of weird things in his life but he might not be able to get over these weird colour changes.]

Sure doesn't look like it. Wait.. did you just get it?

Yeah, in this box... a few other people got it too. And I have way too much, so--]

[ TAKE IT. ]

[She is being awfully persistent. He looks down to his own items in thought.]

...How about a trade? I got something too. [A very purple thing that's in his box.]

I'd take a trade!

[ Maya can be reasonable, especially when it involves food. ]

[He pulls out something purple wrapped in paper.]

It doesn't look like it, but it tastes like turkey. I found quite a bit of it this morning. More than Sora or I need.

... Purple... turkey.

Did anyone actually get something with a normal color?

[darkbreak]

[Laughing.]

Probably not. It'll take a while to get used to. Guess it's to make us appreciate rhe things that are right.

And colorful food still tastes better than grey food any day.

Got that right. Who knew that it would taste so bland?

So are you just going around handing out cinnamon?

I sure am! It's easier than waiting for people to come to me and ask about it.

[ Maya is a go-getter, dammit. ]

[Looking like he doesn't believe her. How many neighbors come knocking on her door for food?]

Does everyone share the food that they get? Or is getting stuff common?

Not entirely common, but people have been kind enough to share their food with me before. I mean, we're all stuck here together in the same dilemma... might as well be charitable about it, right?

[darkbreak]

[He's almost reminded of Sora, except she's a lot more eloquent about it.]

Fair enough. And there only so much stuff we can forage or wait to grow

[How does he keep making friends with people like her. Gosh.]

Yeah... anyways, thanks Maya. We'll figure out a recipe to use this.
