Event Eight.

To thee I'll return, overburdened with care;
The heart's dearest solace will smile on me there.
No more from the cottage again will I roam,
Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home.

he Town is quiet this week. No sudden quests on the forum post, no roars of werewolves in the distance... just peaceful, peaceful quiet. Of course, it's hot as hell right now, but that aside, it's pretty pleasant. You probably don't want to wander around the Town right now, but...

Naturally, now's when the Town is going to start thoroughly encouraging you to do just that.

You do want to find your doorway back home, don't you?

Better get searching! And don't mind the other worlds you might end up stumbling into first.

Welcome to Awash's eighth event log, everyone! Further information on this event can be found here at the OOC post.

You are welcome to start your own posts or logs for this event as well. If there are any questions, please ask them here. Thank you!

Of course I wouldn't mind. It's a skill everybody should have anyway. [Also she's nice and he figures it won't be that big of a deal.] We can start whenever you want.

[He also looks up, but he's not sure what she's seeing.] Who's Mr. Dewitt?

[ She's pretty excited by the prospect of learning to swim, since she's just always excited about learning any new skills at this point. Even if the part of her that's deeply cynical is right and she has to go back to Columbia, she's not going to return empty-handed. She refuses to. With any luck, she might be well-armed with the skills she needs to tell Booker that actually, she doesn't need his help.

Though when Percy asks about him, her cheery demeanor noticeably dips. ]

He's... [ She sighs ] He's the person that was helping me escape Columbia, but make no mistake—He's no hero. He's very much the opposite, since he would have just sold me to someone else if I hadn't caught him trying to trick me.

[He lifts his eyebrows. Immediately Booker Dewitt sounds like an asshole and Percy's not impressed in the slightest. He's met too many people that use people and lie and trick people into things to be comfortable with that notion. He thinks about everything Luke did, actually.

"Helping" by fucking everything up.

But he doesn't settle on brooding for long before he decides that's all he needs to hear about him.]

Sounds like a huge jerk. [And so he focuses on the water instead.] ...even if it's just to Chroma, kind of cool you escaped Columbia without his help.

He is.

[ Her tone is firm and bitter, and she's once again reminded of how grateful she is to be here, especially with what Percy adds. She had reluctantly agreed to stay with Booker, as partners this time, not as his charge, but... She hadn't really wanted to. It was necessary for her to escape, and so she had to. Elizabeth sighs as she remembers that, but her voice softens from the bitterness of speaking of Booker. ]

It... I don't know if it really counts, since I just showed up here, but I'll take it. It's not Columbia, and I think regardless, that makes Chroma better.

[ She looks around at the scenery, then shrugs as her anger continues to fade ]

It's beautiful, but it's a terrible place.
hydrokinetics: (And to be well quite honest with ya)

I've been to those kind of places before. I'm pretty sure no matter how nice it looks you can't justify someplace being awful. [It's a bitterness he recognizes not necessarily in himself but in several people he knows. It's better to lead away from that conversation.]

I think it counts. We don't know why we're all here, but there has to be a reason and that's more than you can say for Mr. Dewitt. Besides, it's not like he can say he fought off werewolves, can he?

[She's doing better on her own, basically.]
