Event Eight.

To thee I'll return, overburdened with care;
The heart's dearest solace will smile on me there.
No more from the cottage again will I roam,
Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home.

he Town is quiet this week. No sudden quests on the forum post, no roars of werewolves in the distance... just peaceful, peaceful quiet. Of course, it's hot as hell right now, but that aside, it's pretty pleasant. You probably don't want to wander around the Town right now, but...

Naturally, now's when the Town is going to start thoroughly encouraging you to do just that.

You do want to find your doorway back home, don't you?

Better get searching! And don't mind the other worlds you might end up stumbling into first.

Welcome to Awash's eighth event log, everyone! Further information on this event can be found here at the OOC post.

You are welcome to start your own posts or logs for this event as well. If there are any questions, please ask them here. Thank you!

choose your own adventure
[ dave's daily routine takes him reguarly through the community garden/farm. specifically he occasionally checks the apple trees though he'll go around doing whatever else, too, just putting in some quality time. sometimes a little literally, with his powers.

walking between two particular apple trees in the garden is now a portal to dave strider's apartment. he does fuck all to keep people out, but instead kind of lingers in his bedroom when he can.

the main room is full of unfortunate puppets and weaponry. a trap door in the ceiling will lead to the roof, where you can gaze out into hazy lava in the memoried distance. inside the apartment off the main room are two other rooms: the bathroom and then dave's actual room.

while you're free to wander in and look at whatever catches your interest, here are some options:

THE MAIN ROOM
a: plush rumps
bro's computer is password protected, but in memory is open to an unfortunate puppet-themed site that is not safe for life. if dave is there, he will just. slowly reach over to close out that tab. fuck. you might also view a terrible webcomic. he'll leave that open if he finds anyone looking at that.

b: ice ice maybe
try to open the fridge if you want to be attacked by swords. for cherry bombs, try the ice maker. while dave WILL warn people with "whoa hey wait don't - " he may not be in the room the second you decide to raid the strider kitchen for food. which is dumb, because there is literally no food in this kitchen so ENJOY YOUR SHITTY SWORDS AND CHERRY BOMBS...for an alternate "what the fuck is falling on me", feel free to open the trap door to the roof and be covered in smuppets. i'm so sorry for you.

c: honestly there's too much to unpack here
boggle at all the puppets and weapons. dave kind of looks completely neutral about all of them although if you don't hit the blender again, he might while looking completely deadpan. puppet snuff. childhood nostalgia!! honestly why is he in this room he hates this room.

DAVE'S ROOM
a: selfies
find dave strider sprawled on his bed with his camera. he'll snap a picture of whoever comes in. alternately, feel free to go into his room before he gets there and look at all his ironic selfies. view a few pages here to see what i mean.

b: mess around with music shit
dave's computer has freshjamz with a bunch of remixes and pieces by him and his friends. he also has his phat beat machine, which includes hidden songs because whatever, dave. his turntables are perfectly up and running, too. you can, in fact, catch dave just idly mixing music in his room. he doesn't seem too annoyed if anyone comes in, just nods with a quiet "sup".

c: look at his collection of dead stuff back there
you know, if you want. it's pretty chill. he has like a mummy hand and shit!

THE ROOF
either you will find the roof empty or you'll find dave sitting on the edge of the roof, calmly staring off into nowhere, his legs dangling over the edge. probably he won't mind company, surely?

THE BATHROOM
idk i guess stare at the puppet in the shower?? ]

pursestrings: (i would die for okuyasu dot com)

[personal profile] pursestrings 2018-07-21 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
I. you live like this?
[So. Okuyasu's entire house has shifted into pocket dimension territory, which means that for the next few days, he's going to be pretty confused about why his actual home from Morioh is sitting where his (considerably nicer, actually) Chroma home is supposed to be. It's not obvious from the outside, but walking through his front door will actually leave you just inside the gate of a completely different yard, looking up at his actual home that he really lives in.

That's different, right? If you wander in by yourself you might find Okuyasu just loitering, looking at a NO TRESPASSING sign that actually only says "NO PASSING," (and is in Japanese, but), or heading inside like there's absolutely nothing wrong with this building...

Or if it's a bit later, he'll be outside the pocket dimension, loitering by his own Chroma-standard front door, waiting to wave you down. Hello.]

Hey! You gotta help me look for my dad!

[Oh boy.]
II. pussywillow. no, but also yes.
[Not in a pocket dimension of his crappy house, Okuyasu has a new pet! From home! That's very exciting!!

It's a plant, though, in a cute little terracotta pot he's carrying around in one arm. And by plant we actually mean it's some horrible cat plant creature, that seems docile enough... almost like it's sleeping. But if approached it will hiss and curl itself up dangerously, prompting Okuyasu to cover its "face" with his hand--

Which, in turn, prompts the cat plant to bite him. He'll be at this routine for a while, probably telling it he's going to give it sand instead of soil any day now.

Eventually, he flags down someone's attention, either with a wave or actually reaching out to grab a sleeve.]

Oi, hold my cat.
III. this isn't related to pocket dimensions at all
[But it is in the center of town, by the well, and his ridiculous cat plant is still with him, sitting on the ground in its little pot off to the side. Here's Okuyasu's latest plan to deal with Mr. F:

Drawing in the dirt. Stay with him. Following the logic that someone or something is messing with whatever people do near the well, he has decided that if Mr. F is watching, maybe this is the way to send him a message. You know, since he doesn't respond online, take it to the real world. Fight him, as the kids say, irl.

So Okuyasu has a stick and is making a mess, as usual. He's drawn a cool S or two, a money goose like a true chain letter mastermind, and is currently working on an actual message with words in it.

The words are not very nice. Every so often he stops and shuffles back a few yards, watching the well, waiting for something to happen, then goes back when nothing actually does.

So this is an experience.]

i-a. welcome to hell! welcome to hell! welcome to hell!

[ anyone who happens upon dextera’s portal without him will find themselves in an absolutely desolate ghost town upon their first step inside. the air is dry, the sky is red, and the atmosphere itself seems lifeless, even disregarding the fact that there are no people around. a great tower stands in the distance, a black silhouette against a dusty red sky. every now and then, a wail sounds from the tower—maybe a howl, maybe a cry, but whatever it is, it’s deeply in pain.

dextera is just a few steps behind the surprise visitor in any case, and whether or not he knows them, he’s grabbing their arm to try to pull them out as quickly as possible. ]

—!

i-b. hell is empty

[ on the other hand, for people who are with or who find dextera, they’ll notice that he stops near the edge of the docks, in bluo’s harbor. it’s not a doorway exactly, no, but for a limited time only… the water ripples with something that could be life on the other side, and dextera was foolish enough to investigate it once with his newfound swimming abilities. it called to him, for some reason, since he spends so much time at the water anyway.

that was a mistake, and he ripped himself out of it as soon as he could—but it’s hard to resist the allure of the familiar. he doesn’t want to go back, and yet he does. he knows it must be there for a reason, even if no one has figured it out yet.

he hasn’t forgotten his sin, but this is an unpleasant reminder he can’t ignore. ]

ii. save it for a rainy day

[ besides the fact that a portal to hell has been opened in the harbor, it’s blazingly hot outside, and dextera has one beautiful gift from a quest earlier in the month that he’s able to put to use much earlier than he expected (which frankly, originally, was never). it seemed merely a consolation prize at the time, but now…

catch dextera sitting outside, lying prone on the ground (is he dead?), with a bright pink ribbon pinned to the sleeve his coat and a raincloud above just his head. it’s small, but it’s clearly doing exactly what it was meant to do. rain gently patters down on him, soaking his hair and a small patch of ground around his face. he may have passed out, but even if he didn’t, that ribbon does look like it’s making him quite cool. ]

iii. wildcard!

( i am 100% up for anything with dextera’s setting—an apocalyptic wasteland of his own making, definitely with monsters, potentially with his clones! i can write up a starter or you can throw me something, otherwise i’ll be tagging around a lot because i’m excited! feel free to plurk me ([plurk.com profile] pavaal) or PM me on this account!

for any characters who are especially sensitive to the “air” of a place in regards to sensing evil or things like that, dextera’s home is absolutely laden with a definite unsettling sense of wrongness, though it’s not “evil” per se. )

[There's a house in Flavo just near the gardens where Izuku tends to train. Though it's technically empty, the door's slightly ajar, beckoning to anyone passing by to peek in.

And, oh, the inside of the cottage isn't really what you'd expect. It's way nicer, for one, and doesn't it seem like this building wouldn't fit inside that one cottage? Weird. Anyway, people won't have to look far to see Izuku sitting on the cough in the living room area, looking stunned, though he'll quickly glance up when he hears someone approaching.]

This is...real, right? It's not just another illusion?

B.
[As soon as Izuku gets over his shock, he's all too happy to give anyone a tour around the U.A. dorms while the portals stick around! He won't mind if you even want to peek into some of the rooms. That is, until he notices his companion heading toward the one with his nameplate on it.]

NO!! [Wow, that's a loud scream!!] Don't look in that one!! [Izuku, suddenly flailing in panic, unluckily trips over his own feet in his haste to block the doorway. The doorway to The All Might Shrine, I mean, his dorm room, that is.]

C.
[Hot as the weather might be, it's no match for Izuku's overflowing curiosity in the end!]

Hey! [Yes, you. He's talking to you. Once he has someone attention, Izuku beams, practically vibrating with excitement.] You've noticed the portals around town, right? Have you found one that goes to your world yet?

[How many times has he wondered what his friends' worlds are like? As if he'd miss an opportunity like this!]

[ If your character was hoping to try and scavenge anything in the abandoned supply shop? Tough luck. It is now a psychedelic casino, complete with a million lights and colors! ]

1. Slot Machines
[ Save for the fact that cards are constantly raining upon the room, this area seems pretty par for the course for a casino: the walls are lined up with slot machines, spinning nonstop even though there is no one around. Adults – and hell, even minors – are welcome to check it out, but the minute they try to approach, a voice will call out: ]

I wouldn’t waste my time on those, if I were you. They’re rigged.

[ While the voice may or may not be familiar, the boy is dressed in a princely wait, the white of his suit greatly contrasting with the red mask he dons. Who might that be? ]

2. The Dark Maze
[ Now this looks a lot less like a casino, and a lot more like a horror ride in an amusement park: ahead lies a maze, mostly dark and near impossible to navigate without a source of light—or a Third Eye skill, at least. The enemies inside aren’t just masked actors, either; they’re very much the real deal, and will attack anyone who’s a threat.

(A threat to whom, exactly? Hard to tell. At this point, anyone is fair game.) ]

Hold on a moment!

[ Hope that random hand on your shoulder in a completely dark room wasn’t very startling!! ]

3. Shadows
[ So yeah, remember those enemies? They’re not just in the maze, they’re sort of everywhere. The busboy with a bottle in hand, or maybe the waitresses offering drinks to non-existent patrons? They’ll melt and distort into something else entirely: maybe an unicorn that isn’t at all friendly, or a bipedal leopard in a… leotard. Whatever they are, they’re not here to make friends. Their sole purpose is to defend the casino owner – or rather, the Palace ruler.

Which your character is most certainly not. And that automatically makes them a threat to be killed. ]

Look out!

[ Thankfully, your hero is here! With a… light saber in tow? Don’t worry, though, he’s got this! ]

[for those who venture near the forest, heading towards the spring, they might find themselves in the sura realm—a desolate, dry place with red skies and mountains of ice surrounding the region. the gravity is harsher, to the point where it might crush someone weaker, and the air is hard to breathe. in fact, it feels poisonous, as if it might dissolve one's skin where they stand; the only thing making it bearable is the mist that hangs in the air, purifying some of it.

also, if you happen to have any special abilities, you'll find that they're far weaker than usual.

so, all in all it's a pleasant place to be in??

it's not entirely without life, though. one can find gandharva sitting in a patch of wildflowers, staring blankly at them as if in a trance.]

ii.
[there's also, unfortunately, another form of life hanging around. eventually, monsters of blackness show up, red eyes open wide. perhaps more alarmingly for those with special powers or magic: none of them are working anymore! oh dear.

OTA: EXPRESS TRAIN TO FLORENCE

on the border of flavo and ruga is a weathered sign that, once upon a time, seems to be a street sign but is now just a faded placard without much of a pole to hold it by. around here is where you stumble into a portal to -

- the express train to florence, rome. the train is divided into many compartments and it seems to go on forever: outside, the scenery, if you manage to see it despite the speed of the train, reflects the amalfi coast to those familiar to it. maps of the route of the trains are plastered on the walls; moving from compartment to compartment will take you to the crowded 2nd class to the more spacious area of the 1st class cabins ... if there had been people there. as it is, it's just a moving train.

if your character stays long enough in the train, your character will notice something odd happening to their bodies: they're growing old! males tend to get older faster compared to females because my canon said so, don't clock me for this. expect to see wrinkles and white hair and sunken skin complete with fading physical strength after prolonged exposure. the effects of an enemy stand, the grateful dead, is present within this train: the longer you are away from the town the more these effects become pronounced. you're immune for an hour and a half, though.

(characters with low body temperature will also find that they succumb to the aging effects slowly. otherwise if giorno sees you, he'll just explain what you need to do to regain your youth.)

items in the train are more or less what can be found on anyone who's traveling: luggage full of clothes and souvenirs and essentials, train food (small portions, bland), maps, technology that's more or less available in 21st century italy/earth.

LOCATIONS OF NOTE:

1ST CLASS CABINS ( pic 1, pic 2. ) - probably some alcohol here but nothing too fancy: overpriced food, fancy luggage, comfy seats.

2ND CLASS CABINS ( pic 1, pic 2 ) - if you look carefully, there is a turtle under one of the seats, with a key on its shell. touching it will lead you to .... another room! the room has nothing of note in it, but it has a sofa, a tv, a fridge low in food and drinks. leaving the room by reaching out to the ceiling will take you back to the train.

removing the key, however, forces all occupants to leave the room.

FOOD/BAR AREA looks like a fight happened here! lots of broken furniture and glass, and .... bullet holes without any trace of the bullets on the floor or anywhere else.

i. baby, it's cold inside

[Flavo's home to a few abandoned cottages. Some might remember one of them almost getting set on fire one average day last month; that's the one that Prompto trots towards now, bright and early. He opens the door, steps through, and stumbles back with a yelp.

It's hot today, but he rubs his bare arms like he's freezing, and he stares at his so-called hide-out like it's haunted. Then he slams the door shut and puts his back to it like he has to hold it closed, eyes wide in his suddenly, starkly pale face.]

ii. in niflheim, it's always winter and never christmas

[While Prompto's first inclination is to keep the door barred forever, as the temperature in Chroma climbs through the weekend, he finds himself opening the door to his waking nightmare. User #FFF59D makes a forum post:]

it's hot. if you need a break from the weather, there's a sortof empty house in flavo i've been using that's open to a place that's cold right now. it's kind of scary in places but if you don't go in too far you'll be ok.

- prompto argentum

[Prompto doesn't wait outside to greet people, but he leaves the door open, and icy cold air wafts out into the sweltering heat. Past the threshold, the space resolves itself into what appears to be an empty military research compound, all sterile tile, glass tubes, and concrete. Prompto himself sits within that first room against the wall, sporting tundra wear with a large rifle in his arms, as if standing guard. He waves, smiling queasily.]

Hi. Can I get you a coffee or anything?

iii. shootin' at the walls of heartache, bang bang

[There's only so long he can stand the cold walls of the Magitek research facility. Around dawn or dusk, Prompto retreats to the edge of town, as far away from people as he can get. There, he lines up the crosshairs of his Sagitta sniper rifle with an empty can of Ebony coffee, exhales, and fires.

The can jumps from its resting place with a hole dead center.

Hey, if you've got an apple you want shot off your head, now might be a good time...]

OVERVIEW

[Summer's doorway can be found between a pair of bookshelves in the library, at the end of the row between the fairy tales and the...more...fairy...tales...which is either a sign that whoever picked this portal location has a twisted sense of humor, or just the fact that Summer spends a lot of her free time in the library reading, either way.

Regardless, to say she's not thrilled when she finds it is...an understatement, to say the least. Quite the contrary, the first time she spots it, all the color drains from her face and she beats feet away from it as fast as she possibly can, almost like she's expecting something to come out of it and start chasing her.

She won't go in it herself, at least not alone, but once she finds it and convinces herself that nothing seems to be coming after her, she essentially ends up staking the area out, sitting down nearby and keeping vigil over it, just in case someone comes along and happens to spot the thing. Or in case something really does come out of it; she hasn't entirely discarded that idea altogether.

Once passed through, however, it leads to Sorceror's Isle, in Nevermorrow. From the outside, the castle that takes up the majority of the island is just plain creepy-looking — exactly the kind of place you'd imagine when you think of evil castles from fantasy books, all tall spires and unforgiving stone. There's a little lighthouse toward one side of the island, which looks out over a stormy sea that stretches out as far as the horizon; the castle also boasts at least one very tall spire with roof access from within the building, and the grass that grows on the ground is sparse and hardy, not green and lush.

Two inhabitants reside here, normally. One of them is gone, but his spells remain; anyone moving through the castle may start to develop the unshakable creeping feeling of being watched, and people who are magically sensitive will be able to further identify that the whole interior of the castle is absolutely brimming with thick webs of spells layered over each other a hundredfold. Some are traps, some are for surveillance; many are just from the sheer fact that almost everything in this castle is enchanted in one way or another, because the wizard who resides here enjoys convenience, and when you've got a shitload of magic at your disposal, why wouldn't you enchant everything to make your life easy?

Maybe don't try to loot the place, though. That's a fast track to a magical asswhoopin', if all those spells are any indication.]

A — WHAT DID WE JUST SAY

[Okay, so much like Abu in the Cave of Wonders, you've just disregarded the "MAYBE DON'T FUCKING TOUCH ANYTHING" advice. It's understandable, really; some of the rooms in here are just chock-full of magical items, precious metals, massive gemstones of every color of the rainbow. Unfortunately, the wizard of the house would prefer that those remain exactly where he'd put them, and while not all of the items herein are enchanted with booby-traps, some of them are! Thus, putting your grubby mitts on the wrong item might earn you any one of a multitude of awkward penalties, including but not limited to:

• An electric shock
• Temporarily transforming you into a snail
• Magically dousing you in a bucket of water
• Making you spit frogs every time you try to speak
• Setting your clothes on fire
• Instantaneous KO

Please try to avoid that last one if at all possible. Luckily, if Summer is also on the premises at the time of the aforementioned fuckup, she'll quickly make her way to your location to try to set things to rights. However, if she's not, well. Good luck? The spell will only last until you leave the pocket dimension, obviously! Or in the case of the last bullet point, until you naturally wake up.]

B — THE UNFAIREST OF THEM ALL

[Sooner or later, one of these excursions will result in Summer making her way upstairs, where one room in particular seems to give her unusual pause. At a glimpse, it's a round stone room that seems to be full of mirrors, with one particularly large one in the center of the room. The central one is notable in two ways: one in that it's clearly intended to be the focal part of the room; two in that unlike every other mirror in the room, this one has a heavy drapery covering it.

Summer, for her part, isn't doing much but standing in the doorway looking nervously into the room. However, if anyone tries to go in and take a look at the freestanding mirror, or god forbid to touch the drapery, she'll immediately react and try to warn them: ]

Wait — don't touch that!

C — LOOTING AND TRANSMUTING

[There's another door in particular that Summer ends up very interested in, however — the one that leads to Maerlyn's personal library. Obviously this is destined to be the most absolutely utterly booby-trapped room of all, and that means there's got to be some real good shit inside it. The good news is, the alarm spells don't pose much of a threat because there's no one here to answer them. The less great news is, who knows what other spells might be on that door. Which means that the problem is getting inside...]

Ugh. The old man really hates the thought of anybody riffling through his shit...any bright ideas on how we might be able to get through?

D — WILD CARD

[I'm also happy to write up blurbs and additional information for other venues on Sorceror's Isle! Just let me know what location you're checking out, and I'll be happy to toss some additional information your way.]

[What's the first thing Ochako does when she finds out her second story window is a portal to a mall? Explore, of course, but as soon as she realizes it's safe—and that it isn't the only portal in Chroma—she's obviously heading straight over to Okuyasu's place to share the wild news. It's time to drag him on yet another weird adventure.

[The news certainly spread like wildfire overnight, as people discovered the little 'doorways' to other worlds. Clearly, the town is reading their minds again.
But as this seems like a benign happening, Tonbokiri is happy to take up Midoriya's invitation to see his home in Japan.

He is enjoying the tour of the dormitory thoroughly, eyebrows raised in pleased surprise at everything from the large windows to the amazingly convenient electric lights. When they come to the hall of rooms, he is glad that Midoriya-dono doesn't mind him looking into the rooms. They are all incredibly individual!

And then-- Although he doesn't flinch, Tonbokiri does look down at Midoriya with wide eyes at that powerful shout as he's pushing open one certain door.]

[ Once he's made sure Aqua can follow him, Akechi takes the lead, making the short track back with slow, careful steps, just in case any more Shadows had found their way around during the brief time they spent inside the maze. He could easily defend himself against any opponents, but keeping someone else safe on his own is a trial he'd rather avoid if possible.

A few minutes later, they make it to a brighter area of the casino, slot machines everywhere and that rain of cards over their heads. It's every bit as weird, but at least relatively safer. ]

Here we are. There's a safe room nearby, and we'll get the chance to talk once we're there. But for now, I hope you feel a little less frightened.

[Actually let's leave immediately and go to the mall, that sounds like a better time. Or, no, this is happening, Ochako has arrived here in probably-fake-but-good-enough Morioh, here to look at... this house. Okuyasu hasn't clued in yet that other people can come in here, so he's a little surprised to look up and see her—

But uh, cool? Better than wandering around in here by himself, he supposes. Check out this sign...]

Oh, hey! [hey!!! casual??] I live here. C'mon, maybe my stuff's still inside!

[Prompto just means to stick his head and hands in the water, splash himself to shake this heat--and the memory of what waits him in his Flavo hideout--when his hands pass through the surface of the water to somewhere inexplicably dry and sterile.]

Wh--what the--?!

[He tumbles flat onto his face, then rolls up and scurries to one side in his panic, looking for the doorway back.]

Hello? How--where--?

doorway -> harbor

i. [ Are you anywhere near the harbor by the water? If you are, congratulations. You're going to find yourself in a relatively neat apartment, with all kinds of manga and comic books lining a shelf. Videogame of choice is paused on the TV if you'd like to play it. ]

ii. [ But what's probably going to catch the eye is the fact that just beyond the full length windows, the city of Insomnia is largely burning, most of it turned to rubble save for a tall white citadel and a few skyscrapers. The city is empty, smoke rising from the ashes. Most of it is ruined, together with several immense, 60ft statues of heavily armored warriors amidst the rubble who look like they've been fighting.

What an uplifting sight, isn't it?

Noctis is overlooking the damage, hands in his pockets and a haunted, hooded look on his face. He's brooding, he's angry, and he doesn't seem surprised to see you. In fact, he's speaking up after a moment. ]

This is my home. Insomnia, the crown city of Lucis.

[ Welcome. ]

iii. [ Food! What smells so good? Ignis has been cooking, and maybe he's cooked for more, so come join them! ]

Hey. [ Noctis greets, wiping his hands on his pants like a gross boy, but evidently he's been helping Ignis out instead of being a couch potato. ] Want some food? Iggy cooked extra, just in case people came around.

Wildcard!
[ Lemme know if you'd like me to make you a starter! ]

Rea

[Wait, wait, wait. Asking him if he really, seriously lives here is rude, so she's just going to close her mouth with a snap look back over at what is apparently Okuyasu's... home? Forget the sign, man; even though he seems perfectly fine with everything, that house doesn't even look livable. How to, um, put that delicately...]

I-I mean, sure! But does anything about your house look... different to you?

[Her mall seemed pretty accurate, but maybe his situation is something else entirely.]

I. sleepover at cairn's bring your own pjs
[ Is it time for a hidden passage behind a bookcase joke? It's time for a hidden passage behind the bookcase joke.

Walking behind the very last bookshelf in the library to the corner of the wall, you will find yourself dropped right into an incredibly fluffy, pillowy room. The floor is completely cushioned, and the walls and ceiling are covered in thick cloth to keep out any light, as well as to shield the stone walls. Outside the curtains, there is a ring of bowls of jellyfish that emit the softest luminesence, barely noticeable from inside the curtains. It's a very comfortable and inviting room... or, it would be, if it weren't so damn cold.

Anyone stumbling into this room by accident would be immediately aware of how it's absoltely freezing, and a cold gust of wind only makes it worse when Cairngorm opens the door to see whoever the new visitor is. ]

IIa. an escape room, except its really soft and you don't wanna leave
[ Maybe you heard that Cairngorm's pocket reality is a winter wonderland, and you want to escape the heat, or maybe you are just their friend!! Either way, for those coming with Cairngorm on purpose, getting flopped down onto those pillows with a partner can be kind of aggravating with how it makes it harder to climb out....plus, they need to get out of this room as quickly as possible before they're tempted to just lie there and take a nap. You know, a several month long one. They don't stop to help whoever came with them clamber out of all the pillows, way more concerned with getting out themself. ]

Come on, hurry up. It's not getting any lighter outside.

IIb. easy freezy
[ Outside of that pillowy room? There's a hallway open to the snowy landscape with a few big shelves, which are filled with jars and all sorts of pointy tools that Cairngorm leads you to. While you walk, the main source of light is coming from a green, glowing jellyfish which is in a bowl in Cairngorm's hands - much, much brighter than any specimen on normal Earth. When both of you get to the shelves, there's a howling wind from outside that they barely react to, other than promptly shoving the bowl into your hands. ]

Here, hold this.

[ They're definitely expecting you to comply, though both their hand that came into contact with you and the bowl itself are painful levels of chilly. And they're definitely not aware that it might hurt you. What will you do? Drop the bowl? Or risk freezing your hands off for the sake of pleasing their impatient attitude? The choice is yours. ]

[Ochako, please, this house is... definite garbage, it's true. Okuyasu gives it a scrutinizing look, considering, but no— that's definitely the same shitty house.]

Nah, this is the place. Josuke lives pretty close by! But I don't think we can get over there from here.

[Just a hunch. He points, and sure enough there is a house a street or so over that's quite clearly visible, but everything between it is a little fuzzy because he just doesn't pay attention to neighbors who are not Higashikatas. Amazing performance. Anyway, since they can't go through what amounts to background scenery: this house.]

You coming or what? [He's headed inside!! It's even darker and dingier indoors, because of course it is.]

I. [Insert Godfather quote here]
[ Unimaginatively, the portal to Caramia's memories is found by walking through the door to his home. So, maybe you want to visit him, or maybe you're watching this idiot walk in and out of the door looking a mixture of both perplexed and fascinated? Maybe you just want to barge into random houses trying to look for more portals because you're a heathen and just Like That? Whatever, my dudes, go wild.

But should you enter, you'd find yourself in a massive foyer, with weapons mounting the walls, unnecessarily expensive-looking decor, and... ]

A. The Kitchen
[ ...the smell of food! Following the smell leads you off to the kitchen, Caramia happily at the stove stirring something. He seems much too happy to be in a proper kitchen again. There's an island in the middle, surrounded by chairs, should you choose to take a seat! Otherwise, he hasn't seemed to notice you yet... or maybe he has, and he's just too engrossed with food??? Yeah, probably that one. ]
B. The Office
[ ...the sound of metal clinking together. Entering Caramia's office, you are faced with the walls lined with bookshelves, one cabinet off to the side with very generic wines inside, two couches and a coffee table, and finally, Caramia's desk, where he had several guns on it taken apart, and currently tinkering with them. He gives a wave to his guest. ]

Huh, so... you're able to come here, too??? How strange. I thought for a moment this might be a dream. [ Or that he managed to get back home, somehow, but that one seemed too optimistic even for him. ]
C. Etc.
The wildcard option for Caramia's mansion! There's other places, like his bedroom or hell, you want a real shower? Bathroom's around, too. Just hit me up on [plurk.com profile] rubiesriot
II. Alcohol Warning Ahead
[ This idiot meanders through town while it's nearing the "Fucking Hot" end of temperatures, (un)surprisingly a bit drunk. One may even catch him desperately trying to... climb into his house through his window??? Sure. Okay. Maybe help him or... watch him suffer? ]
