Event Eight.

The heart's dearest solace will smile on me there. No more from the cottage again will I roam, Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home.
Welcome to Awash's eighth event log, everyone! Further information on this event can be found here at the OOC post.

he Town is quiet this week. No sudden quests on the forum post, no roars of werewolves in the distance... just peaceful, peaceful quiet. Of course, it's
no subject
[He's still staring at that spot. It's not like Mutsu can see or even feel that Mahiru is there, after all, even as Guren's eyes follow her while she skims the book titles.]
So I'm going to bring them back. I've been researching it. You don't have to worry about the hows or whys.
no subject
Ya can't undo what's already been done. (He isn't one for rules but some things are absolute.) Trying to do otherwise does things to your spirit. I've seen it and it's not pretty.
(Just putting it lightly.)
no subject
[The hand in front of him gets him to look away, at least, as Mahiru giggles from where she is. He's already brought people back to life. But he can't share that too much, or it's dangerous.
He steps away from Mutsu, just a little bit.]
Are you done looking around here, or are you still planning on snooping? I can't remember every book in this place, so you'll run out of material.
no subject
(The type that doesn't seem to care about certain effects on himself. It's reckless, it's dangerous. He'd thought Guren was just another one of those serious, self-sacrificing leader types... but it's deeper than that, isn't it? He feels like he's the type that might do something stupid some day. If they were in Mutsu's world, Guren might be the type of person that needs to be stopped.
Snapping the book shut, he'll put it back (roughly) back where he got it from.)
What snooping? (He takes offense! But he'll follow after Guren,) ...Got something for me to find?
no subject
[He's not walking anywhere in particular, at least not yet.]
no subject
(It's not snooping if he knows it's there! But he does wonder what kind of experiments Guren is talking about. All he can think about are... humans making contracts with demons, humans turning into demons. Things that feel taboo and make his skin crawl,)
Are things really not worth looking for or are there things ya just don't want anyone to find?
(is this some reverse psychology stuff because he hates mind games.)
no subject
[And he doesn't want anyone staring at the lab for vampire experiments, or the temple where way too many kids have died.]
Go play with a vending machine, instead. [PLAY WITH IT]
no subject
BUT WOW?? He huffs at that,)
Already did! (He sounds so proud.) Not much fun when ya don't have money but that's life.
(Being broke is lame.)
How's it feel being back here? Even if it's not real?
no subject
[Why is he not surprised Mutsu already did. He doesn't have any change on him, or he'd pass it off...]
It's all wrong. There are plenty of places in the world that are empty now, but we're inside of protective walls. There were plenty of people here, and now they're all gone. I don't like it.
no subject
Mmm, I feel the same way. (About his world, Guren's world... most of the worlds he's visited so far have just felt weird without people.) Even the museum got more people than these worlds...
But here ya are, even if ya don't like it.
(Not that it matters much. Guren seems like the type that does things he doesn't like. One of those dutiful leader types (aggravating).)
no subject
[There's lots of classrooms in the school itself. Regular ones, and then offices with name plates, like his own.]
People keep getting lost in here.
no subject
What, like bring something back they shouldn't? (Can you do that? Actually bring something bad? As far as he knows, people have been bringing back good things...) It's a big place.
(He understands how people could get lost,)
How about a tour?
(Show! Him! Around!)
no subject
Of what? It's a bunch of empty classrooms and empty offices. Here, this one taught math.
[There's math on the chalkboard... why did they use chalk in 2012.]
no subject
But wow, he's not impressed with generic math class...)
It's your school, right? (Leaning in,) Show me your room.
(His classroom??? The staffroom?? Guren's either a former student or he works here. Or he's a weirdo that visits random high schools.)
no subject
[He had a classroom that he was homeroom teacher for, but to be honest, he rarely showed up. Usually, he had Sayuri lead it for him... and he'd show up now and then if there were important forces in his class he had to use for his own gain.
His office, though? He was in that all the time.]
Fine. This way. [He's taking them a different direction for that, all the way until they meet a corridor of offices instead of classrooms. The gold nameplate on the door reads LT. COLONEL GUREN ICHINOSE.]
no subject
(He knew it had to be that or a former student. He'll follow behind Guren without any sort of problem, though. He's curious so he'll glance at any rooms they might pass. When they leave the classrooms and get to a different sort of hallway, he definitely checks out the names on the doors.)
Lieutenant colonel? (So pretty high up there. He gives Guren a curious look. He seems... young.) Huh, standing outside makes it feel like I'm in trouble.
(Like he's being sent to a teacher's office to be reprimanded. This is also his natural guilty conscience speaking, though. As good as he tries to be, he's too used to getting into trouble.)
no subject
That's because you're a troublemaker.
[He's always in trouble. But Guren walks inside, and holds the door open to make sure Mutsu can come in. Guren won't stop him from poking around... his room is very hipster. Record player, old fashioned land line phone... Why is he like this.]
1/2
That was a joke.
(He's not trouble. It's not his fault trouble always finds him? )
no subject
BUT HE ISN'T IN TROUBLE RIGHT NOW so he'll just skip on in and check it out. He's more interested in the record player right now and he might be poking at it a bit,)
What year is it again?
(Why does your office look like it could be from the Meiji era, Guren... How old are you???)
no subject
Meanwhile, he does look offended at the question, looking menacingly over.]
You got a problem with it?
[He's 24 going on 60.]
no subject
He probably gets it to play on accident and it surprises him-- enough to get a small jump from him. It's a nice sound, one that he probably wouldn't have expected to associate with Guren if he hadn't just learned he was an old man.)
Just thinking ya didn't look like an old fashioned sort of guy. (He thought more of you, Guren!!! And because he has the attention span of a child right now, he'll flutter off to look at his bookshelves now. It's not snooping if he's not looking for anything in particular...) Fan of the Meiji era or something?
(Not that he really got to see much of it. Being in storage and all that. Looking over at the other wall, he really does expect to see giant, turning gears but it's probably just... normal office stuff, huh.)
... It's kind of like Master's office in here.
(Is this just Leader Aesthetic?)
no subject
...It just reminds me of how I grew up. [In a very traditional mansion, in a very traditional families as clans in a weird religious cult sort of set up— it ended up this way.]
You can still appreciate things like this in modern day Japan. [It's like the smallest hint of defensiveness, mostly because all of this stuff just makes him feel closer to his father.]
no subject
I guess they're still useful. (Unlike some things that just go out of style. He shrugs casually,) Well, that's life for ya.
(Things change, some things stay relevant and other things end up in museums for people to look at and appreciate. He doesn't care anymore. Showing exactly how much he doesn't care, he's just going to make himself at home right on this couch? You give him an inch and he just takes over the whole place...)
D'ya like teaching?
(He seems like a grumpy teacher type.)
no subject
[He's a violent teacher. When he shows up, that is.]
No, it's a pain in the ass. [He says that, but there's no heart behind it, and he glances away to those books Mutsu had been looking at. Not much here... lots of books on vampires, on spells, on military strategy.]
I ended up with a handful of troublemakers in my class.
no subject
You're the kind of guy who thinks everyone's a troublemaker. (He's not impressed! He's calling it out.) But then ya go around making sure everyone's okay and taking the time to figure people out.
(No one's punched him in the mouth in a while so he's free to run it as much as he wants now!!!)
Ya act real edgy but you're actually real soft, aren't ya?
