Event Eight.
![]() | |
The heart's dearest solace will smile on me there. No more from the cottage again will I roam, Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home. | |
Welcome to Awash's eighth event log, everyone! Further information on this event can be found here at the OOC post. |
If I had a dollar for every time I forget to close a SMALL tag...
[She peels open the top of the box and starts rummaging in it.] We didn't do much spying, but we do things like bodyguard duty, dealing with criminals and terrorists, disaster relief and answering the complaint hotline.
no subject
That sounds like a lot. [There are a lot of responsibilities involved in being a special duty esper. Fighting terrorists is especially surprising.]
How long have you been doing this?
no subject
It is. I ended up missing my friends birthday twice in a row because of work...and I couldn't even explain why we ditched her both times.
[She still felt bad about that.]
I've been on active duty since I was ten. But they tried to limit our workload at first.
no subject
He understands feeling bad about disappointing someone over that. Working since she was ten must be pretty harsh...]
Aren't there laws against that?
[Because seriously.]
no subject
Did you know, I hadn't gone to school until I was ten. Because I 'm a high level esper so most schools didn't...want do deal with that, I guess. I don't blame them! [She laughs a little like this was no big deal.] I had a bad temper when I was a kid and I had really poor control!
Anyway, the school I ended up attending was affiliated with Babel, the organization I'm employed by. Even my middle school and highschool are!
[And she knew that, for her, Shiho and Aoi, if it weren't they may not have been able to keep going to school at all.]
For a high level esper like me, Babel isn't just my workplace, it's an organization that will help me learn to control my powers and support me in any way it can...and not just me but other espers too. It's the only place that does that in Japan.
And besides! When I do work as a special duty esper, people get to see that these powers aren't something to be scared of! That we can use these powers to help people! If we can change people's minds about espers then things will get better for espers in the future!
no subject
But as she explains more, he starts to understand better. As unfair as it might seem to him, this organization was helping her learn to control her powers. And they were helping her show the world what she could do; what she could be.
Even if he doesn't agree with it happening at such a young age... he can understand Kaoru's feelings about it.]
...I get it.
[He nods.]
Then it was really good for you, right? Babel?
no subject
[And then she has the look of someone who finally found what she was looking for and she pulls out a music box with a photograph in it and leans over to show him what's inside.] Look! This is Minamoto and the three of us! I was a pretty cute kid, right?
no subject
You haven't changed much, huh?
[But his tone is light and teasing. It is a cute picture, even if the man who must be Minamoto doesn't look all that convinced.]
no subject
[She's trying to pout but she's clearly not even the least bit upset.]
no subject
[His grin gets a little bigger, amused at the pout. Come at him, Kaoru.]
no subject
Take that!
no subject
[He tries to block the pillow, but his puny human capabilities are no real match for telekinesis.
Unfortunately, his Persona aren't really made for play-fighting, either. Looks like he is at a disadvantage.]
