Event Eight.
![]() | |
The heart's dearest solace will smile on me there. No more from the cottage again will I roam, Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home. | |
Welcome to Awash's eighth event log, everyone! Further information on this event can be found here at the OOC post. |
joins the ii. train
When he does, Ginko stops, turns back around to face the younger man. His expression is grave but filled with sympathy; he's never known what it is to have a home for himself, but that lack has only ever brought the value of such things into sharper relief for him.
Softly:]
I'm sorry.
[He doesn't ask what happened, doesn't feel it his place to when he doesn't even know this young man's name. He'll listen to whatever Noctis needs to say--he's always been good at that, listening--but pry no further.]
no subject
[ It isn't, but what's the point of saying that right now when everything's clearly gone to shit? Either way, it doesn't make Insomnia less messed up. ]
I'm sorry you had to see this.
[ It's not a thing anyone wants to see, all things considered, and even though Noctis doesn't recognise him, he supposes that it's someone from Chroma who's come over quite by accident. Even so, he seems like a gentle sort, and Noctis finds himself softening, just a little. ]
You are...?
no subject
[He doesn't want to witness destruction any more than the next person, but he's not particularly distraught over seeing it. No, his concern is only for Noctis, really. He's seen villages burned from forest fires and the like before, but nothing quite on this scale.]
...I can leave, if you'd prefer it. But it's alright to share your grief, should you wish to.
[Often, people just need to talk to someone. He's found that it can be easier for some to do so with a person like him, an outsider with no connection to their everyday lives. He's never in any one place long enough for it to matter what he knows about anyone, and Ginko is new enough that he doesn't expect it to in this case, either.]
no subject
No, it's fine.
[ Noctis doesn't want to be alone right now, and Ginko seems like a decent sort. And he's right -- it's easier to talk to someone on the outside; someone who has less of a personal stake in what's happened. There's something comforting about this stranger's reticence, and he pauses for a moment only to ask: ]
Are you a counsellor, or something?
no subject
[Is it just? Someone who counsels? Like a village elder, or an advisor for the head of a clan, or somesuch? Ginko has no context for mental health services of any kind, whoops.]
I'm simply a passerby who's good at listening.
no subject
You must hear many stories.
[ Noctis says at length, not quite sure what to make of him, but that he seems trustworthy enough. He doesn't seem to be casing the apartment, for one. ]
no subject
[He's been doing what he does for close to twenty years, after all.]
