The heart's dearest solace will smile on me there. No more from the cottage again will I roam, Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home. | |
Welcome to Awash's eighth event log, everyone! Further information on this event can be found here at the OOC post. |
C - July 21
Given that they haven't had a chance to have their mounted duel yet, he can't help but be pleased that he'll help his opponent grow stronger. It is easy for him to agree to a trip with her. And, he admits, he does have another reason for wishing to see her world. He hopes that he can come to understand her better through both seeing her home and Ochako's advice to ask about her life there.
Passing through the door of the stable, he is immediately taken by the presence - both in atmosphere and physically - of the tree. He stops walking to look up at it, taking in the view.
"I- I am astounded, Maribelle-dono. What is that magnificent tree? Even calling it 'tree' does not do it justice, does it.
no subject
"If you want to be more specific, it is called the Mila Tree... it is named after the mother goddess, and some say it's as old as she is." After a few silent footsteps, she lightly touches the bark with one hand. "At the very top rests a powerful manakete... she is respected as a deity, sleeping for thousands of years and awakening when we need her most."
no subject
He awkwardly hesitates a moment, feeling that this is so direct, but still a good chance. So he gently asks, "I would like to know more about your life here, as to understand you better. For over and over, I have realized that I cannot understand you from only the perspective of my own memories and culture. And now, if you are agreeable, I have the opportunity to see with my own eyes this part of your life."
no subject
"...We came to this tree to seek the advice of the mankete that lives atop, Lady Tiki. She is a source of inspiration for the people that live in this land... having her support meant more people who would join our cause. And, in due time, she woke up and joined us herself."
no subject
"To have one that may only wake once in thousands of years must have been a great boon. What cause have you given yourself to?"
no subject
"We are in Valm, where they are being taken over by a bloodthirsty dictator."
no subject
He follows behind, looking curiously at the tents. It certainly does have the feeling of an army on the march. If anything, he is a little surprised that one who so clearly enjoys comfort and neatness like Maribelle is out in a camp like this.
"How did you come to join this army?"
no subject
"Anyone is free to join the army. We take in all kinds, and as a result we've become quite powerful. There's no great, grand story behind my choice... I simply wanted to help people. It is an honor to serve my liege, and to aide those who need it most. Once I was of age and my magic was strong enough to be of use, I joined, simple as that."
no subject
"May I ask, was your family also in this army? Or perhaps you came alone? I have seen many variations on that story in my time as a spear, and I am curious what yours is."

He turns his attention to the tent they are standing in front of. "So, you live alone here, but are in good company." It sounds like not a bad situation.

"To fight together with one's friends is always a pleasure and an honour, isn't it. As you use the same skills, did you study together as well?"

"She must be dear to you. I hope that you can return to her, and the rest of your important comrades, soon."
