[OPEN] june prompts and catch-all!
WHO: Emma and Open!
WHERE: All Over
WHEN: June catch-all
WHAT: Open prompts and closed! Lots of animals??
WARNINGS: n/a at the moment
OTA - A survey;
[Could this more easily be done on the forum? Yes. But Emma is putting boots to the ground and putting faces to names. She can't associate people with their hexcodes forever!
So, it doesn't matter where you are in town or what you're doing. Emma appears, old notebook held diligently in hand, and a pencil at the ready.]
Excuse me, I would like to ask a question. [Were you going to refuse this solicitor? Too late.] What's your favorite type of animal?
[Yup. That's the very serious question. She's waiting.]
OTA - on the hunt(?);
[As the Month starts an explosion of color occurs around the forest's perimeter. So many animals that were once perfectly camouflaged within the gray underbrush have burst into startling color. The sheer novelty of the sight after months of gray has piqued Emma's interest. She's usually out and about but she's exploring even more trying to identify all the new critters.
Unfortunately, the majority of colorful animals are relatively small. You may find Emma stalking after bright orange lizards sunning on rocks, OR watching bunnies from a far, OR setting up little piles of seeds to lure out the purple mice. You get the picture. The sky is the limit as more and more animals are discovered.
If the animals are ever startled away (thanks) then Emma will sprint after them, attempting to jump and catch them.]

This one isn't bad at all, is he? [A beat, and then:] Or... she, I guess? I can try to keep it calm while you snip off some wool.
[How much do they need, anyway? WHO KNOWS. The important thing is that the demon sheep is bleating up above them... and that Ochako is going to love on her new invisible buddy for however long it takes Emma to do her thing. She's cooing to it. It's probably lame.]
no subject
Leave it to me.
[The cooing seems to work! The calmer sheep seems fixated on Ochako. Or it's probably fixated since they can't really see where it's looking. Whatever. Emma is very carefully holding one hand on the animal's body as she cutting the wool off. The last thing she wants to do is accidentally nick the poor thing with her scissors.]
This one really is nice... It's too bad we can't bring him back with us. It would make getting more wool really easy.
no subject
It would make a great pet! I wouldn't know what to do with the wool, but it's so soft. [Wait, this is Emma she's talking to. Survivalist extraordinaire.] Do you know how to make wool into other things?
[Emma could tell her that she knows how to turn rocks into gold nuggets and Ochako wouldn't be surprised.]
no subject
We could use it for cushions? The wooden chairs aren't the most comfortable. [Considering they were scavenged from abandoned buildings and all.] I don't know that at all! I'm actually kind of new to a lot of animals.
[Of course, the chill sheep isn't an issue at all. Emma isn't actually the best person for the job, she's never even seen a real sheep before this month, but the wool is mostly in one piece. Probably. It's good enough to appease whoever Mr. F is. But, well, they're done with this one.]
We should probably let it go so it doesn't get even more frightened up in the air...
[It's time to say good bye to the nice one... and hello to the demon sheep.]
no subject
That's such a good idea! Maybe you can use it as stuffing for your dolls, too?
[Hey, guess who got a tiger doll and loves it to pieces? It's definitely Ochako, judging by that warm smile on her face—whiiich promptly fades as she glances up at the terror above them. Oh, boy.]
I wish I could let this one go, but I have to release them both at the same time. Sorry! I'll let them both go when we're done with the other one. [This, of course, is directed to their nice friend, and she gives it one last pat before rolling her shoulders a bit. It's once again time... to wrassle.
Or is it? Hmm. She can't resist shooting Emma a hopeful look.] Unless you... think that one sheep is enough?
[@ Mr. F— PLEASE.]
no subject
Oh! That would be good too! They would be super fluffy!
[Just more fluffy things in town in general, please. Emma frowns at the chill sheep having to go back up into the air but hopefully it's a little more calm now after the pets. It's not bleating in terror as often. The demon sheep though...
Emma takes a deep breath, rolls up her sleeves, and sets a determined look on her face.]
Two is probably better than one- Let's do this!
[Good boy gets one last pet before he gets floated up and the bad one gets pulled down. This is the worst trade in the world. Emma jumps, placing one hand on his back to hopefully push him down so he can't kick as freely, while going in with the scissors. Mr. F. never said the sheering job had to be done well.]
Hold his head down! We don't want him to figure out he can bite!
[Please don't let it figure out it can bite.]
i'm going to go ahead and submit it!
[Sheep—even the invisible ones—are supposed to be sweet, not fierce. This creature, however, never got that very important memo, and as Ochako feels her way up to its head it is very obviously trying to whip around and chomp on her hands. It's like the sheep understood exactly what was just said. Wonderful!
Against all odds, though, Ochako manages to avoid its teeth and hold it in place long enough for Emma to finish cutting off its wool. The bucking and kicking its doing doesn't make it easy, but hey, this is almost like... wrangling a villain or something? That's what she tells herself as she tries her best to keep it still, even after the snipping stops. They're so close to being done with these sheep forever, so—]
Emma, if you're done, hurry and untie it! [Does she sound done with this quest? She's done with this quest.] I-It's getting even madder!
[Positive: they have the wool for the quest. Negative: this angry sheep might chase them all the way back to down.]
