OTA - on the hunt(?);

[As the Month starts an explosion of color occurs around the forest's perimeter. So many animals that were once perfectly camouflaged within the gray underbrush have burst into startling color. The sheer novelty of the sight after months of gray has piqued Emma's interest. She's usually out and about but she's exploring even more trying to identify all the new critters.

Unfortunately, the majority of colorful animals are relatively small. You may find Emma stalking after bright orange lizards sunning on rocks, OR watching bunnies from a far, OR setting up little piles of seeds to lure out the purple mice. You get the picture. The sky is the limit as more and more animals are discovered.

If the animals are ever startled away (thanks) then Emma will sprint after them, attempting to jump and catch them.]

Thank you! There's no issue of bias when it's a personal question. Although I guess I should have guessed the answer to that one.

[It may be over a silly thing but she can't help but grin at being trusted right off the bat. Of course some people around here would just roll with the weird things people get up to but it still feels nice.

And with a wave she vanishes.

But! After around two days Maribelle will either notice some rustling outside of her house around dusk OR a small package wrapped in a plain cloth on her doorstep. Pick your own adventure go!]

[Maribelle was leaving the house to tend to the horses when she hears the rustling. Frowning, she begins walking over.]

What's going on?

[What's going on is Emma trying to sneak away into the darkness while there's a package left behind. She jumps up straight, a big smile like she wasn't just trying to run away.]

Hi, Miss Maribelle! What's going on? Nothing!

[troubadamsel]

... Would you like to try that again, with the truth?

[Now squinting suspiciously...]

[Eep! This is going even worse than expected! Well, might as well come clean since her plan was ruined. Emma picks up the package and holds it out for her to accept.]

Um... I wanted to give this to you. I thought it being a surprise would make it more special.

[And her serious expression melts right away, genuinely touched.]

... You're giving me a present? Oh, Emma, darling...

[She carefully takes the package to open it.]

[Oh, that's good! Maybe she should have just planned to give them this way from the start?

Emma watches on with an expectant look as the present is opened. Maribelle will find... a simple ragdoll of a horse! The body is white fabric but the mane is made of yellow strips. Kind of like Maribelle herself.]

I thought it would be a good way to cheer everyone up.

[DO you like it? Do you like it?]

[C-crying is not for someone in her station! She's above that, you hear me?! NOT GOING TO CRY!!!]

... I love it. I absolutely love it.

[Silence is so suspenseful!!

But at the good reaction she lights up. The present was well received!]

Really?? I tried my best to make it look just right- Although there isn't a lot of material around.

[She's still embarrassed but obviously it was good enough.]

[She actually hugs the toy close to her chest.]

... This is why you were going around, asking about animals? Have you been doing this for everyone?

[Ahh- That's even more embarrassing to hear she likes it that much. But Emma's goofy grin shows just how touched she is that Maribelle is happy.]

Mhmm. Or I've been trying. It was the best way I could think of to brightens someone's day.

[Half for the positivity and half because she really did just want people to feel better. That last ordeal was High Stress.]

[Yes, yes it was. Maribelle steps forward, and gently wraps her arms around Emma, holding her close. Be grateful, child, she doesn't give these out often!!!]

... We are all truly grateful to have you here.

[A hug! It's surprising coming from the proper lady Maribelle but Emma doesn't miss a beat in returning it. There's no way she can just accept such a heartwarming statement- It's best to be humble.]

I'm only doing what I can! Everyone here is amazing.

[Including Maribelle! They all deserve nice things.]
