Open! And also closed!
WHO: Shiho and various others!
WHERE: around town
WHEN: All throughout June (3rd-9th for event happenings)
WHAT: Shiho gains an entire new appreciation for her own powers. And once she gets them back, she’s immediatelyusing them for evil checking to make sure no one’s eaten anything else poisonous. Also open for quests or just general shenanigans.
WARNINGS: probably none?
JUNE 3 - JUNE 9
[Shiho has never loved her powers, but as she couldn’t exactly turn them off she’d simply learned to live with them, to enjoy them as best as she could. Not having to clean her room because she knew where everything was, knowing the entire life of the food she put in her mouth, teasing someone about knowing all their dirty secrets was a natural part of who she was.
The difference is noticeable from the moment she wakes up and the blanket she’s using is nothing more than a blanket. Kaoru is nothing more than a person who turns into a clingy octopus-person at night and breakfast is just... food.]
one. At the well
[Without her powers, Shiho can’t guarantee that she’ll see Kaoru’s power spikes, nor can she guarantee the state of her best friend’s well-being. That’s why she’s standing here, hands holding tightly to the coin and knowing without a doubt after maybe a moment’s deliberation that she couldn’t use it.
She had to save it and maybe, just maybe they could get...something useful with it no matter how small it is.
Maybe you’re here to make a wish? Or maybe you just followed her. Either way, she can’t tell and turns around to walk right into you, fumbling the coin with a surprised noise. CATCH IT SOMEONE.]
two. At home
[Have you ever seen a mopey psychometer? Well here’s one, either sitting out on the porch or draped over the kitchen table, sighing and occasionally pushing one finger to a nearby surface....]
...Still nothing.
[This isn’t the first time she’s had her powers cancelled out. But it’s the first time that it’s lasted so long without someone going to either break the ECM or to get out of its range. As far as she’s aware, there is no range.]
Ugh....
OTHER
[Quests you want to do post-June 9th (or do you want to share a terrible memory with her pre-June 9th?) Anything? Do you owe Shiho food?? Either way, hit me up with any ideas on plurk (
mochimaruvii) or in a PM (that I hope DW doesn’t eat again) and let’s talk about it!]

And then you hit... it.
[Now she's not sure where it is, ruffling through the grass and looking for a small bright shine. Damn it, this is so much easier with psychometry.]
no subject
[ well, now she has to help find it alongside her, and her hands go to touch the grass quickly to scour for it. ]
It couldn't have gone very far. We'll find it if we look together I'm certain.
no subject
We’ll find it. And even if we don’t yet, we’ll.....
[She pauses at that, realizing for the first time that she doesn’t know any longer if she’s getting her powers back or not. If they never came back...what would she do then?]
....Find it later. Eventually. [Though there does seem to be a tiny glimmer to Zelda’s left if she looks.]
no subject
I believe eventually has become now.
no subject
But that’s her own problem really, not Zelda’s which is why Shiho smiles anyway when the coin is turned towards her.]
Good. I’d hate for us both to stay out here all night looking for it. [Or more like Shiho pretending to give up so she could get Zelda to go while she stayed all night looking for it.]
...I thought I lost it, so........
[Give her a minute.]
....Thanks.
no subject
You're welcome! I'm just relieved we found it - I'm so sorry again for bumping into you like that. [ she pushes her hands off the ground and stands, brushing the grass and dirt from her pants. ] So tell me, do you plan to use it today?
no subject
It isn’t your fault.
And...I kind of was... but... even now, I’m not really sure if I should. [On the one hand, it seems like a good small thing to hang onto for a rainy day. On the other hand, what if Kaoru blows up, taking most of Chroma with her because Shiho couldn’t look after her properly??]
no subject
I can't imagine you would consider using a boon such as this without granting it careful consideration. If you have doubts, maybe it's better you keep it?
no subject
[And it's a good trump card to have in reserve, she thinks.]
....did you use yours?
no subject
[ she doesn't know how much power this wish has, but she feels it too important to waste without proper thought. ]
If you don't mind me asking, what were you considering using it for?
no subject
[Because she needs little for herself. She'd much rather use this coin for someone else's sake.]
no subject
no subject
[How does she put this in a way so as not to out herself as a psychometer...]
-I.... can’t help her as I am now. If anything happens, I won’t be prepared. [Honestly none of them will be prepared, she thinks.]
no subject
[ that would explain why shiho seems a little off. who would't be worried about their capability to help others, especially friends? ]
Well, I won't pry, but I think whatever choice you make, it must be a decision without hesitation. If you've thought of everything, and see the coin as your only option, then that's your call to make. But if you have doubts, it may be better to explore why.
no subject
Well... everything might turn out to be okay in the end.
[Then the coin would be wasted if she had used it.]
And the other choice is too dangerous for... her.
no subject
no subject
...She thinks it’s fine to save it, that she’ll be fine. [Though Shiho still can’t help worrying even right now.]
no subject
If that's how she feels, then I think you should take her decision as your own. But... I think your sentiment, and care for her, is strong regardless. That could help her more than this wish.
no subject
But I... I guess I can agree with it. [She also appreciates something like that, just someone who cares even if they might not be able to help.]
no subject
Ahaha, sorry, I know it is. Sometimes you can't help but say these things when they're appropriate for the moment.
[ and shiho herself seems so serious about this - she hopes she hasn't embarrassed her. ]
no subject
Her expression does seem to relax somewhat to when Zelda starts chuckling.]
Be careful though, next thing you know you’ll start giving friendship speeches.
no subject
[ her friendship speech is "don't die" and that failed. ]
no subject
[besides, a friendship speech’s effectiveness is in its depth of feeling.]
