WHAT: Shiho gains an entire new appreciation for her own powers. And once she gets them back, she’s immediately using them for evil checking to make sure no one’s eaten anything else poisonous. Also open for quests or just general shenanigans.

JUNE 3 - JUNE 9
[Shiho has never loved her powers, but as she couldn’t exactly turn them off she’d simply learned to live with them, to enjoy them as best as she could. Not having to clean her room because she knew where everything was, knowing the entire life of the food she put in her mouth, teasing someone about knowing all their dirty secrets was a natural part of who she was.

The difference is noticeable from the moment she wakes up and the blanket she’s using is nothing more than a blanket. Kaoru is nothing more than a person who turns into a clingy octopus-person at night and breakfast is just... food.]

one. At the well
[Without her powers, Shiho can’t guarantee that she’ll see Kaoru’s power spikes, nor can she guarantee the state of her best friend’s well-being. That’s why she’s standing here, hands holding tightly to the coin and knowing without a doubt after maybe a moment’s deliberation that she couldn’t use it.

She had to save it and maybe, just maybe they could get...something useful with it no matter how small it is.

Maybe you’re here to make a wish? Or maybe you just followed her. Either way, she can’t tell and turns around to walk right into you, fumbling the coin with a surprised noise. CATCH IT SOMEONE.]

two. At home
[Have you ever seen a mopey psychometer? Well here’s one, either sitting out on the porch or draped over the kitchen table, sighing and occasionally pushing one finger to a nearby surface....]

...Still nothing.

[This isn’t the first time she’s had her powers cancelled out. But it’s the first time that it’s lasted so long without someone going to either break the ECM or to get out of its range. As far as she’s aware, there is no range.]

Ugh....

Closed to Joshua and Kaoru

[Looking for things had always been Shiho’s specialty, so it had only made sense to try the bogeyman quest, a red (Kaoru) and Joshua in tow. It was bright and early in the morning though everything is as grey as ever. Still, it could be worse as Shiho stops at Joshua’s house, hoping that he’s ready to go already and they don’t need to wait another five minutes.

Granted, they were already late for the meeting but it’s...fashionable when they do it? With a mischievous smile, she’s knocking on the door:]

[It's good to have Shiho back to her usual self. It had been hard seeing her best friend moping around with her power sealed.]

Open up or we'll feed it to the dog! [What dog?]

[ Joshua, thankfully, is both a light sleeper and a morning person, so he's been up and about for a while. He went out earlier to see to the chickens and gather up the eggs, he's had breakfast (and left some for the housemates who aren't awake yet, given that it's safer for everyone if Estelle doesn't have to cook anyway), and he's quick to open the door. ]

You know, it's really disappointing when you say that and then don't have a dog.

Good~ Then I guess we better go while we’re all still ready and everything. [Not that waiting longer means they’ll be less ready??

Shiho will start leading her way to the forest though, one hand passing over any tree and heading without much pausing to catch her bearings.]

[Oh, speaking of being ready...]

So, I ran into this thing with Ling before. It seems to be able to create some sort of illusion. Also it's really ugly. Like, really, really ugly.

She’s teasing (mostly) but still wary anyway as they make their way into the forest bit by bit. If it appears, she’s ready.. and also half-listening at the same time to Joshua and Kaoru’s conversation in case she can get more juicy details.]

...I'm not sure? I think it's something that's supposed to upset us, it could even be something only we're supposed to know about from home.

[She'd told Shiho about it when she had returned, how she'd been shown an illusion of That Future (and how the thing had shown up as Minamoto).]

[ The juicy details of Joshua's life, honestly, don't really make for good gossip at all. It's just "everything was sad and a lot of bodies hit the floor." ]

...okay, that sounds about like everything else here so far.

It’ll be fine. [This time they’re........more prepared? Everyone has a handkerchief and no one needs to go to the bathroom at any rate.]

And if they show us something we don’t like, we can use it as incentive to make it sorry.

[Her expression is still cheery as they make their way ever deeper into the forest, following a path that Shiho seems to know already. (Though really, she’s just following traces of the creature.) They’ll come up on it soon enough and then she’ll make a motion for them to stop moving.]

[ zelda approaches the well for her own business today. it's one of the couple spots in town she prays at, feeling the deep pit where everyone appears must have some sort of importance. she feels the need to come to it every so often.

and when she sees shiho she smiles and quickly walks up to her- ]

Hello - ah!

[ and then they bump right into each other, and her eye catches the coin, which she hurriedly... swats away, letting it fall to the ground. not quite catching but... ]

[The absence of psychometry means that Shiho wouldn't know why Zelda is here, only that she is. For a moment she really does think the coin is going to fall right into the well with no wish from her (and wonders in a sort of horror what would happen then).

Thankfully the swat moves the coin away from the well and safely... into a patch of grass.

At least it was cushioned? Well, time to go look for it...]

...Hey. What are you doing here?

[ zelda herself stumbles back a few steps, narrowly avoiding a fall by swinging her arms up to quickly balance, but brings them down to her sides swiftly. ]

-Hello! [ oops, bit too quick, try again. ] Shiho. Forgive me for the scare, I was only going to greet you.

Ah- [Shiho half-stands to reach out when she sees Zelda flailing, stuck for a moment on whether or not she should reach out and help her. Thankfully she doesn't have to make the choice when Zelda regains her balance in no time at all.

Time to try and inconspicuously get back down.]

That's fine. I... didn't see you. [In more ways than one really.]
You don't have to apologize. [Now if only she can find that coin...]

[ she nods and, well, she can't help but be curious. slowly she squats down to be on level with shiho and glances around the ground. ]

Is there something you're looking for? [ it doesn't really look like there's anything find around here though? ]

The coin I got. I think it's supposed to be used for a wish but I kind of.........dropped it.

And then you hit... it.

[Now she's not sure where it is, ruffling through the grass and looking for a small bright shine. Damn it, this is so much easier with psychometry.]

Oh! I'm so sorry.

[ well, now she has to help find it alongside her, and her hands go to touch the grass quickly to scour for it. ]

It couldn't have gone very far. We'll find it if we look together I'm certain.

You don’t have to apologize. [Both said and meant sincerely because Shiho only had herself to blame for being so worried about her psychometry that she hadn’t even been paying proper attention.]

We’ll find it. And even if we don’t yet, we’ll.....

[She pauses at that, realizing for the first time that she doesn’t know any longer if she’s getting her powers back or not. If they never came back...what would she do then?]

....Find it later. Eventually. [Though there does seem to be a tiny glimmer to Zelda’s left if she looks.]

[ she nods and continues to search, until the glimmer catches the periphery of her glances. her eyes turn toward it and in the thick of the grass she sees the coin, a smile immediately coming to her. carefully she picks it up with her index and thumb, and then turns it toward shiho. ]

I believe eventually has become now.

[It’s still frustrating as much as it is gratifying when Zelda manages to find the coin first. This is new to her, having to count on someone else for something like this.

But that’s her own problem really, not Zelda’s which is why Shiho smiles anyway when the coin is turned towards her.]

Good. I’d hate for us both to stay out here all night looking for it. [Or more like Shiho pretending to give up so she could get Zelda to go while she stayed all night looking for it.]

...I thought I lost it, so........

[Give her a minute.]

You're welcome! I'm just relieved we found it - I'm so sorry again for bumping into you like that. [ she pushes her hands off the ground and stands, brushing the grass and dirt from her pants. ] So tell me, do you plan to use it today?

And...I kind of was... but... even now, I’m not really sure if I should. [On the one hand, it seems like a good small thing to hang onto for a rainy day. On the other hand, what if Kaoru blows up, taking most of Chroma with her because Shiho couldn’t look after her properly??]
