It hits him then, that All Might had never actually told him what to expect when facing All For One on his own. Just that he was powerful. At least he has the fight at Kamino to reference so he isn't going into this completely blind, though. He just hopes that he isn't wrong, even if this isn't the real All For One.]
His head's the weakness! If we can get a good hit in, we should be able to knock him out. [Izuku's trying not to think about how it had taken so much power from All Might to accomplish that.] He has some really powerful attacks, but those take some time to charge up, too! Let's try and overwhelm him before he can react!

[Works for Keith. Charging straight in is where he excels. So with that he's done hesitating. Sword at the ready, he's already moving, flanking left since this guy seems pretty focused on Izuku.
At the very least, if they can make it divide its attention that will give them an edge as well.]

Even with a friend, this is all you can do? Pathetic.
[Izuku hastily jumps out of the way as one of the black things tries to stab right through him. Hopefully, if he's drawing the bogeyman's attention, Keith will have an opening!
At least, that's the thought before the copy throws out a blast of power that levels a good number of the trees around them and sends Izuku flying back to hit the ground harshly.]

There's no hesitation before he's leaping at this All for One creation, sword coming down in a violent arch aimed at the back of his head. Though he rather doubts this guy can be taken down in a single blow, Keith tends to fight like every attack is intended to be the killing blow.
Like a Galra soldier.]
Izuku?? You okay?

The villain catches Keith's sword in a jagged tendril before it can make contact, and throws him away harshly. Izuku darts over to his friend's side with a scowl as the villain laughs.] Is that all? I expected so much more from you. This just proves you're even more lacking than all your predecessors.
[Izuku ignores him--or tries to.] Okay there, Keith? If I keep him occupied with some long range attacks, do you think you can get in that close again?
no subject
[Keith replies after tumbling his way back to his feet, shaking off the blow and readying himself for another go.
He gives a curt nod at that. Not a problem. He can get another shot if he needs to. And another after that. Keith's real talent is how good he is at taking a beating and staying on his feet, so they've got this.]

Just like they were hoping, the sudden attack keeps All For One's attention on Izuku, leaving him open for an attack from the back.]

Instead of All For One, the figure shifts, there and gone in an instant, and instead Keith finds himself face to face with a foe that should be long dead. Zarkon stands in front of him, huge and menacing and with those same empty eyes that stared him down in their first face to face battle.
It's unexpected enough that Keith's blow goes wild and he nearly tumbles as his momentum carries him past.]

Izuku fires off another wind-pressure attack to make the huge figure step back, just in case he was going for his friend.]
Zarkon? [Izuku asks, when he reaches Keith's side again.]
no subject
[Keith scowls and rights himself, turning towards Izuku.] Same strategy? He can't keep attention on both of us.
I'll provoke him.
[Because Keith is... talented. At provocation. And without hesitation, he's running towards the Zarkon fake to do exactly that, sword drawn, a battle cry following his movements]
no subject
Without waiting any longer, Izuku quickly jumps into action as well, though he stays quiet to avoid drawing the Zarkon fake's attention. He hops from branch to branch until--there! He has a good shot at the fake's back.
Izuku lifts his hand, gripping that wrist with his other hand as support, and quickly fires off a few wind pressure attacks right in Zarkon's direction. With any luck, one of them will hit!]
ignore journal fail sorry
Keith rushes past, dodging a swipe as the creature goes down, already losing form like it can't quite decide what it ought to look like.]

[Before he can even move again, the bogeyman gives an eerie shriek that raises the hairs on Izuku's arms. Suddenly, instead of someone familiar standing there, the bogeyman finally drops all of the illusions, leaving just the shadowy looking man in its place. Izuku barely gets a good look at the thing before it hisses at them and then flees, melting into the forest's shadows.
For a moment, Izuku's just stunned. Then he drops back down to the ground, rubbing at the back of his neck as he walks over to Keith.] I think it's gone...?
no subject
Is... is it really? That almost seems... too simple.
[This place has gotten his usual cynicism and paranoia even more heightened than it has been. But here they are.] Is that the quest?
no subject
But it took off as soon as we got a hit in. Should we try to follow it?
no subject
[Keith's every instinct is to pursue the thing and kill it.]
Maybe that's enough. But it's still out there.
[And he doesn't like that idea at all.] But if it comes at us again I doubt we'll get away with that strategy so easily.
no subject
On one hand, it might be like you said--as soon as we show that we're not scared of it, it's technically a success for the quest. On the other... we didn't exactly defeat it.
[He's quiet for a moment.] I have an idea.. the rewards for quests usually show up in our rooms pretty quickly. If we don't see anything when we get back to the town, we could always try again?
