[Izuku shakes his head, taking a step back. Okuyasu isn't... wouldn't lie to him about this. And yet, Izuku can't allow himself to accept this until he's seen some kind of proof. They just lost Momo. They can't have lost Iida so soon, too.]

Lap....laptop. [Izuku swallows hard, looking at Okuyasu a little pleadingly.] Nijimura-kun, I need to use yours. [Just to check.]

[pursestrings]

Over there, [he says with a nod, over to his laptop where it sits open on his bed (a terrible place to keep a laptop). Izuku can browse it; Okuyasu's left it logged in.

He'll just... stay quiet until Izuku is done with the laptop, uncomfortably.]

[inheritance]

[It only takes a couple seconds for Izuku to pull up Iida's hex code and see that it's struck out, but it takes much longer for Izuku to stop staring blankly at the screen and push the laptop away.]

Thanks. [Izuku visibly pulls himself together and then manages to smile at Okuyasu, even if the smile is a little wobbly.] I-it's not a bad thing. It just means that Iida-kun's back home now! Hopefully, he and Yaoyorozu-san will be able to report everything that's happened so far to our techers.

[pursestrings]

[Oh jeez... Okuyasu takes one look at his face and then mercifully lets his gaze slide elsewhere, so he isn't staring.]

Yeah, uh. Definitely. [...] You okay?

[inheritance]

I'm okay! [He's be okay, just give him a second to process this.]

It... surprised me. That's all. I kept thinking that I'd at least get to see him again after he turned back to normal.

[pursestrings]

I know what you mean. He didn't even make it back in the house— I think he was gone before I woke up.

[A very quiet, lonely exit... sad.]

[inheritance]

[Sad, indeed. Izuku gives a little sigh before standing back up. It feels like it's going to be difficult to pretend that everything's okay (because it's not), but thankfully, Izuku has just the thing to lighten thing's up. He doesn't want to drag Okuyasu's mood down with him, after all.]

That's too bad... I guess he'll never get to see how much work we put into that prank.

[pursestrings]

[Well-- that gets Okuyasu to chuckle, at least, although it's not as cheery as it could be for obvious reasons. Wry, and only for a second, but - a laugh!]

Yeah, he's missing out. All the stuff he picked up is gone, too. Banged my leg on the bed when I went to look.

[In the end, they pranked Okuyasu.]

[They played themselves...]

At least they sent him back with his hero uniform. It'd be a hassle if he had to have it all made again.

[He shifts from side to side, thinking.] I just wish we knew why people are being sent home. Maybe then we'd... you know, have some kind of warning.

[pursestrings]

[Okuyasu shrugs; that's getting into details he just doesn't think about--]

Dunno, that stuff's pretty beyond me, y'know? Some people turn into statues and come back normal, some don't... Maybe Mr. F just gets sick of us sometimes.

[inheritance]

Yeah, I guess.

[Izuku turns his head, staring in the direction of Iida's room, before shaking his head.]

We should... talk about something else. [Now that Izuku's had the time to let this sink in, he looks restless.] Or do something else.

[pursestrings]

Sure, yeah. You're right.

[Great plan, he's sick of sitting around this empty house, himself.]

Whatever you want, dude.

[Time to fall back on something that's always cheered him up--Izuku isn't sure if it'll help this time, but it's worth a shot.]

Can you tell me about your Stand? I've seen you use it, but... I don't know much else. Things like, were you born with the power? Or how many people can use powers like that in your world?

[pursestrings]

[Being a huge nerd cheers him up? Nah, that tracks, that's very Izuku. On brand.]

Uh-- I'll do my best, sure. [He's not the best person to ask about Stands, really, but he'll try!!] I dunno how many people have Stands, but not a lot-- not like you guys and your quirk deals. I've only had The Hand for a couple years, 'cause my brother-- uh, he found a way to get 'em, so we... got 'em.
