WHO: Clark and Dave, Clark and You! (potentially also Rin, Mafuyu, Maya, Joshua if you wanted to thread things out) (possibly Summer for a roommate meet!)
WHAT: Clark's just trying to help out, okay?
WHERE: All around
WHEN: second half of May
WARNINGS: none so far!
He's already tried escaping. Via the air, of course, but neither up nor over had gotten him anywhere. Literally. Since then, he's been trying to take in this place, understand something about the people here and the situation as it stands. The whole thing stinks of magic, which of course is not really his favorite thing in the world, but it's a strange and different magic from anything he's familiar with.
He'll be looking for someone heading into the woods as he's going to try and explore there, see what other flora and fauna are to be found. He'll be wandering around town, including the various districts, to get a feel for each area and how much work has been done there.
He has plenty of concerns, but he can't help that he's also terribly curious about some of the things people have talked about. The boy who'd mentioned 'hero schools'... The girl who'd admitted that she too was an alien. Perhaps it's the El in him that even though he misses his home, worries for the Earth without him there, a part of him is fascinated and curious about this new landscape.
He's been trying to keep busy, trying to still help people. He's been messaging people about where he can contribute and he's been working on some of those that he'd said he might, like the cheese and the soap and the toothpaste. These things require chemicals, though. Chemicals he'll have to try and find in the rocks and plants and animals in this place.
So really, there's no telling where you'll find him. But feel free to say hello to the massive (but oddly not intimidating) new guy in the glasses.

Where you are, whatever you're doing, you're about to be pelted in the forehead by a rock. Right in the forehead. Who could've done that!! Who in the world!!!
And if you look to where the rock came from (it was very, very far away) -- there is Bruce. He has shoes on this time but he's still in his sweats and Gotham Knights t-shirt -- just a little more dirt covered than before. He's also already scruffy too. He'll probably have a full beard in another week. It's very Bruce.
He's standing at the edge of the woods and he's mouthing three words for Clark: Come here, idiot. ]
no subject
For any number of reasons. Any. Number. Of Reasons.
He doesn't rush his way over, just keeps eye contact with him as he trudges his way there, and he makes sure he has the rock that bounced off of his forehead to present to Bruce as he steps up. ]
What exactly would you have done if I was depowered because of all the magic around this place?
no subject
Well, instead Clark deigns to tell him off. That's. Probably fair. But Bruce doesn't realize that yet so he just frowns and says quite flatly, ]
It wouldn't have killed you.
no subject
[ Bruce. That's a very low bar. He's not even expecting you to be polite. But that was unnecessary. ]
no subject
He closes his mouth.
Then he pinches the bridge of his nose and grunts out a very quiet -- ]
Sorry.
[ He may be a little bit stressed out. ]
no subject
Clark breathes in, then out, then lets the rock drop to the ground a few feet from them. ]
Is something the matter?
[ Nope nope nope, does not want a tirade, so he continues with- ]
Other than the obvious.
no subject
he's crossing his arms over his chest and shifting from one foot to the other before breathing out of his nose. he'll spare clark the tirade and instead get straight to the point. ]
Damian is here. As is Selina. I... haven't figured out anything new since getting here, I'm worried about their safety, and I don't have my suit.
[ he. is stuck as bruce wayne. no batman. he's stuck as bruce wayne, clark. he hates this. ]
no subject
[ Which is the polite way of saying it. As opposed to 'your son is being racist to metahumans and given the situation you may want to talk to him about it.' ]
But I wasn't aware of Selina.
[ He tips his head to one side and offers a walk, if only to talk while they're going and keep Bruce from being too restless. ]
I've discovered a few things. Mostly... unhelpful things, but information all the same. I do have my suit, but I've been hesitant to pull it out. I'd offer it but...
[ But that would probably be weird. ]
no subject
He's doing his due diligence, which I'm glad for. He has his suit so, he's had to take point here.
[ robin before bruce wayne, that is. it's a little strange but they're figuring it out. either way, bruce is proud of him for reaching out and not letting the handicap hinder them. ]
Yeah, she's in Flavo with me. Not the same house though. Once things settle, I think the three of us will take one of the empty cottages there so we can stay together.
[ because you know, bruce and selina living together is totally not weird and surprising at all, right?? ]
The information is scattered but runs the same theme -- fairy tales, folklore. Don't trust the witches in the woods, that type of thing. It has to be a plane of magic, which is...
[ well, it makes him wish diana was here. that's for sure. ]
You're probably better as Clark here but I worry the longer we stay, the more of a handicap it'll be for us. I don't want Damian to be in suit the whole time but it's going to be stranger the longer this goes.
[ he wants to HUG his SON and can't because the bats are crazy and full of identity issues. ]
no subject
If you need me to take point, I can take point.
[ Which actually has nothing to do with any of the above in the least and everything to do with Clark's very firm assertion that children should get to be children as much as possible and putting responsibility on the young without guidance is deeply immoral. The Wizard Shazam got the blunt end of that opinion. ]
And I'm actually not sure about that, Bruce. There's a high percentage of... well, we'd think of them as metahumans - here. Not to mention the fact we have no idea what kind of dangers we might be in store for. I'd rather not hide 'Superman' until it's too late.
[ A little tilt of his head. ]
I'm at something of a disadvantage against magic, Bruce, not useless.
[ Wait for it... wait for it... ]
You're doing what with Selina?
no subject
You might need to. Don't tell Damian.
[ Because Damian still needs to have some sort of purpose and goal or he'll isolate himself from the community, only sticking to the two of them and Selina. If he thinks his goal is information gathering, he'll make the effort to talk to people. Go be social, kid.
The irony that this too applies to Bruce is definitely lost on Bruce. ]
... I didn't say hide him but with a population this small, you're either Clark Kent, guy who can jump really high or you're Superman, who also knows how to farm. There's a ... blurring of lines here.
[ And he's not comfortable with it. He's also still FIGURING IT OUT, okay. ]
I didn't say that. I just... hate... magic.
[ He hates it so much!!!
Anyway, it's the last bit that actually has Bruce confused, a furrowing of his eyebrows as he looks back at Clark. ]
... Taking one of the cottages?
[ what ]
no subject
I wouldn't.
At the moment, I've been focusing on finding out the exacts on the food situation and the defense force they've assembled.
[ There's a sigh, a deep sigh. He ruffles his own hair, straightens it, and adjusts his glasses. ]
Though the way things are looking, I might have to be Clark Kent, who has a... 'Quirk' was the word they used. I'm meeting with some of them, so I'll see what the situation looks like.
[ He leaves the comment about magic alone, because they both hate it, so much, so so much. Instead, he's going to focus on the issue of Selina. And- ]
...I just... I never got the impression you and Selina were... well, that you were all that apt to- or that she was all that apt to-
[ How does he put this? ]
You two. Cohabiting. I mean, I know it's happened in other universes, but...
[ Yeah, he's just surprised. After a moment- ]
I mean, I definitely think it could be- if you both want that, it could be great. I'm very happy for you.
no subject
Tell me what you find out.
[ He could've asked for that politely but hey, it's Bruce. He sucks. There's a frown at Clark's explanation though and a slight hh because yeah, he doesn't like that. It sounds stupid as hell.
But fine. Be Clark with a quirk. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
Except then Clark's stammering on about Selina and now it's time for Bruce to look deeply unimpressed. ]
I'm judging by your reaction you're not from the same point in time from me, are you? We're engaged. You know this. We -- [ Another hh but this time it's at himself because this is so dumb to say out loud. ] Went out. Double date. Us and you and Lois.
no subject
Of course.
[ But then he's hearing about this double da- ] Really? [ He looks... happy! So happy! That's a great idea! He wishes that'd happened before now. ] Well, uh, not to be rude but... that's not how things were when I spoke to you last. So no, I think we're from different time periods.
[ There's a pause. ]
Asking what you remember seems like a bad idea. But-
[ Wait, he's engaged? For goodness sakes- ]
Congratulations! I'm... [ it softens a little ] I'm happy for you. Truly.
no subject
But also ugh again because the more Clark looks like he's gonna, what, start spewing rainbows or something like that, the more of a grouch Bruce looks. ]
Depends if it's a time thing or a reality thing, I suppose.
[ If he's just from the past, no use in telling him. If he's from a different reality, doesn't matter what Bruce tells him then. Still, no way to really know that.
But then he pauses at Clark's delight, looking a little hesitant for a moment. ]
... Really? You had an issue. With the criminal thing.
[ It wasn't exactly the criminal thing but Bruce is too emotionally stunted to really get that. ]
no subject
It's an issue. It's definitely an issue, I won't say differently.
[ He lets out a little huff of breath. ]
But I can still be happy for you. And since it's not really an issue right now, I'm going to focus on the positive.
no subject
Still, the reaction is enough to get Bruce to look a little relieved. Fingers push through his hair while the other settles on his hip and alright. Cool. Awesome. ]
... Thanks.
[ He's so happy right now, despite everything. :( ]
no subject
Though perhaps don't use the 'leaf' metaphor. Some things are a little sensitive still. ]
So... was there anything else you wanted to talk about?
no subject
And hey, she's turning over something! Maybe not... a new leaf... but... look, she's just having fun and Bruce doesn't have to arrest her so they're good. They're good.
He thinks about it for a moment though before shaking his head. ]
I wanted to go in the forest with you. Was told if we do that, it'll likely try and kill us. Wanted to test that but now I'm afraid if we do, you'll want to talk about my feelings.
[ He looks a little amused at that last bit. ]
no subject
You know, you're the second person today who's accused me of wanting to do that. I'm starting to think someone put a sign on me.
[ Sigh. The things he puts up with. ]
Let's see if we can find a trail at least.
no subject
It's that sweet mid-western face of yours.
[ The driest humor possible. Still, he'll turn and begin to walk just... straight into the forest. He sucks. ]
no subject
I'm assuming Dick's going to be your best man.
no subject
Because yeah, Bruce just frowns back at Clark, gesturing for him to take the lead. Fine. Fine. After you, ET. ]
... Yes. You're my back up.
[ In case Dick like, disappears on him or something. Dick's a better option, for those who don't understand that Bruce and Clark are best friends -- his eldest son makes sense for a Bruce Wayne wedding. But, it was still a terribly hard choice to make. ]
no subject
I'm honored.
[ And not at all upset that Dick was chosen. It's important, for a lot of reasons.
After all, he hadn't been able to pick Bruce for his own best man similarly. Just being the fill in is an honor to him, though.]
I'm sure Dick will do a great job.
no subject
He's following, okay. Stop rubbing it in. ]
... Yeah.
[ And then there's a slight hesitation there. Conversation is still hard, even when it's with his best friend. He kicks at some dirt a little, hands finding their way into his pockets as they walk. ]
He's been terribly smug about it. I think it's to overcompensate for the strangeness.
