He's already tried escaping. Via the air, of course, but neither up nor over had gotten him anywhere. Literally. Since then, he's been trying to take in this place, understand something about the people here and the situation as it stands. The whole thing stinks of magic, which of course is not really his favorite thing in the world, but it's a strange and different magic from anything he's familiar with.

He'll be looking for someone heading into the woods as he's going to try and explore there, see what other flora and fauna are to be found. He'll be wandering around town, including the various districts, to get a feel for each area and how much work has been done there.

He has plenty of concerns, but he can't help that he's also terribly curious about some of the things people have talked about. The boy who'd mentioned 'hero schools'... The girl who'd admitted that she too was an alien. Perhaps it's the El in him that even though he misses his home, worries for the Earth without him there, a part of him is fascinated and curious about this new landscape.

He's been trying to keep busy, trying to still help people. He's been messaging people about where he can contribute and he's been working on some of those that he'd said he might, like the cheese and the soap and the toothpaste. These things require chemicals, though. Chemicals he'll have to try and find in the rocks and plants and animals in this place.

So really, there's no telling where you'll find him. But feel free to say hello to the massive (but oddly not intimidating) new guy in the glasses.

[ He'd been told to meet by the well, so by the well he goes, glancing around to see if he can spot this Dave person or not. He's apparently a time traveler, or he has some sort of time-based abilities, and Clark's found that those sorts usually arrive either exactly on time, or slightly late with a flawless entrance. ]

[ dave is the "arrives exactly on time" sort for the day, apparently. he's a kid in bright red, though the hood is down. the shades are, of course, on. he...could pass for a superhero, basically, but seems pretty casual about the entire thing as he strolls up to the well. he's tallish at 5'10" and way too skinny but he seems composed. ],/small.

Hey. Clark, yeah?

[ Clark offers a friendly wave as Dave walks up. ]

That'd be me. And you'd be... Dave, yes?

Yeah, Dave Strider. The geese are in the woods, btw...at least, the non-captured ones. Also, some of them breathe fire. That chill with you?

[ they're mutant geese........... ]

[ He'd started to hold his hand out for a shake when he'd come out with the flamethrowing bit. Aha. ]

Well, that's... different.

[ The hand is finally extended for a shake. ]

But yes, I should be fine. Pleasure to meet you in person, Dave.

[ oh...shaking hands. okay, dave drags his out of his pocket to shake clark's. he's ambidextrous but not superman. and also...doesn't bother to have too firm a grip. ]

All the animals are mutated here, even the fish.

Mutated? Or just different?

[ They might be on another world with different sorts of life and people may just be assigning them names according to what they sort of look like. He doesn't know.

All the same, the shake is brief, friendly, and definitely not anything painful or squeezy. Just a greeting. ]

[ HEY, CLARK.

Where you are, whatever you're doing, you're about to be pelted in the forehead by a rock. Right in the forehead. Who could've done that!! Who in the world!!!

And if you look to where the rock came from (it was very, very far away) -- there is Bruce. He has shoes on this time but he's still in his sweats and Gotham Knights t-shirt -- just a little more dirt covered than before. He's also already scruffy too. He'll probably have a full beard in another week. It's very Bruce.

He's standing at the edge of the woods and he's mouthing three words for Clark: Come here, idiot. ]

[ Clark was not expecting the rock to the head. He wasn't expecting to see Bruce out here, though he knew that Bruce was here from the friends day thing the other day, but they hadn't gotten to talk much, at least not about important things. But regardless of it being Bruce, he really was not expecting to be pelted in the forehead with a rock.

For any number of reasons. Any. Number. Of Reasons.

He doesn't rush his way over, just keeps eye contact with him as he trudges his way there, and he makes sure he has the rock that bounced off of his forehead to present to Bruce as he steps up. ]

What exactly would you have done if I was depowered because of all the magic around this place?

[ It's like Clark expects good manners from Bruce or something like that. But he's glad to have got his attention and when Clark gets over, he's about to open his mouth to say something when --

Well, instead Clark deigns to tell him off. That's. Probably fair. But Bruce doesn't realize that yet so he just frowns and says quite flatly, ]

It wouldn't have killed you.

Are we really using that as the metric now?

[ Bruce. That's a very low bar. He's not even expecting you to be polite. But that was unnecessary. ]

[ He opens his mouth --

He closes his mouth.

Then he pinches the bridge of his nose and grunts out a very quiet -- ]

Sorry.

[ He may be a little bit stressed out. ]

[ Clearly he's stressed. He apologized. Look, they love each other with the kind of epic level ridiculous that can only be properly expressed during the Silver Age where monkeys ruled and strange alien beings came to visit them if only to die and make them both shed a single manly tear but... Bruce doesn't generally apologize. It's worrying.

Clark breathes in, then out, then lets the rock drop to the ground a few feet from them. ]

Is something the matter?

[ Nope nope nope, does not want a tirade, so he continues with- ]

[ he absolutely did apologize and there's definitely a moment where he wishes he could've taken it back. now, it's true he loves clark to absurd silver age levels but he's definitely a bit messed up inside beyond the usual amount that's making him actually apologize for once.

he's crossing his arms over his chest and shifting from one foot to the other before breathing out of his nose. he'll spare clark the tirade and instead get straight to the point. ]

Damian is here. As is Selina. I... haven't figured out anything new since getting here, I'm worried about their safety, and I don't have my suit.

[ he. is stuck as bruce wayne. no batman. he's stuck as bruce wayne, clark. he hates this. ]

Like, mutated. There's deer with two heads and stuff? You'll see when you go in, like...they look just slightly off horror movie style, honestly?

[ once the handshake is over his hand goes back into his pocket and he starts walking to the woods. ]

So, you got any powers?

[ Which is the polite way of saying it. As opposed to 'your son is being racist to metahumans and given the situation you may want to talk to him about it.' ]

But I wasn't aware of Selina.

[ He tips his head to one side and offers a walk, if only to talk while they're going and keep Bruce from being too restless. ]

I've discovered a few things. Mostly... unhelpful things, but information all the same. I do have my suit, but I've been hesitant to pull it out. I'd offer it but...

[ But that would probably be weird. ]

Are most of the people here empowered in some way?

More or less. I think there are one or two people who just sang and danced back home...? But I'm more used to dealing with people with weird powers.

[ Yeah, he's going to look over at Dave on that one. ]

[ look, he's trying his best. his thirteen year old best. please don't say mean things about his son, clark, or he's gonna throw another rock at you!! ]

He's doing his due diligence, which I'm glad for. He has his suit so, he's had to take point here.

[ robin before bruce wayne, that is. it's a little strange but they're figuring it out. either way, bruce is proud of him for reaching out and not letting the handicap hinder them. ]

Yeah, she's in Flavo with me. Not the same house though. Once things settle, I think the three of us will take one of the empty cottages there so we can stay together.

[ because you know, bruce and selina living together is totally not weird and surprising at all, right?? ]

The information is scattered but runs the same theme -- fairy tales, folklore. Don't trust the witches in the woods, that type of thing. It has to be a plane of magic, which is...

[ well, it makes him wish diana was here. that's for sure. ]

You're probably better as Clark here but I worry the longer we stay, the more of a handicap it'll be for us. I don't want Damian to be in suit the whole time but it's going to be stranger the longer this goes.

[ he wants to HUG his SON and can't because the bats are crazy and full of identity issues. ]

[ It's not mean to point out that the kid is going to get himself in trouble pissing off a bunch of metahuman-types who have no idea who Batman or Bruce Wayne is. And Bruce is going to sit down and listen given the sort of things Bruce said about Kara and Con at various points in much much less dire situations. ]

If you need me to take point, I can take point.

[ Which actually has nothing to do with any of the above in the least and everything to do with Clark's very firm assertion that children should get to be children as much as possible and putting responsibility on the young without guidance is deeply immoral. The Wizard Shazam got the blunt end of that opinion. ]

And I'm actually not sure about that, Bruce. There's a high percentage of... well, we'd think of them as metahumans - here. Not to mention the fact we have no idea what kind of dangers we might be in store for. I'd rather not hide 'Superman' until it's too late.

[ A little tilt of his head. ]

I'm at something of a disadvantage against magic, Bruce, not useless.

[ He's probably dealt with sound aliens, come to think of it. He might even have some at the Fortress. ]

I suppose it takes all types for... whatever it is this is supposed to be.
