Everyone who signed up should be shortly getting a comment with any relevant information (or should by now have the comment because jazz hands time travel bullshit which is maybe looking at this after I send them and not before). Keep in mind that event placements don't actually matter and were chosen just for some sort of consistent talking point, and just do whatever sounds most fun, basically! Anyone who didn't sign up is free to gate-crash, but I won't be assigning any further match-ups for contests/prizes/teams. Love me. It is incredibly easy to gate crash since the tournament is mostly outside and in public, but there aren't any extras of the team armbands handed out to the sign-ups - there IS enough food and such for everyone, however, and no one haphazardly "in charge" is going to care if non participants participate since they're all pretty easy-going. You do you, guys. Let me know if y'all need anything else!i. setting the scene/warm-ups
For the duration of the 18th there are haphazard decorations all around the town for each of the teams: the WILDCATS, the STRAWBERRIES, the SUNFLOWERS, the CHOCOBOS, the WILDDOGS, and the STARS. Dave chose these names 100% whimsically and does not give a single fuck if teams choose to rename themselves, but all the decorations are themed in those shapes. Particularly strawberries, because they have strawberries. There's a central meet-up area near the well, with some tables dragged out. One of them, with a makeshift umbrella over it just in case, houses the prizes which will be awarded at CLOSING CEREMONIES. Another is where you can go to get your armband and team assignments from one of the "student council members" who are all wearing a second armband with CSC written on it. So you can find them and bother them if you really want, although they're sort of lackadaisical about things like rules and procedure for the most part.ii. blind man's bluff
Name badges are encouraged but not remotely enforced and there's breakfast snack options for people to have as they loiter and introduce themselves. There will be Student Council led warm-ups for the day's activities so no one like, strains a muscle, but for the most part that also doesn't seem to be a requirement. Basically say hi to your team and maybe other people and have some grilled fish or whatever for breakfast, you're welcome.
They've also hauled out several barrels of water with cups for all so you probably can stay hydrated without wandering off for the day.
Directly after breakfast and warm ups, they go into their first game of the day! The weather is Hot and Humid at this point but still dry. Rules can be found here, and additionally participants are asked to not fly more than five feet off the ground and to try to be "like, not assholes about superpowers" although this is haphazardly enforced. Most of the Student Council (why did they decide they were a Student Council for this? who knows) has superpower and can probably stop anyone egregiously cheating, but also some of them will let it go if it's rule of funny or cool. They're clearly a very structured organization.iii. relay race
Points will be accrued for Blind Man's Bluff on an individual basis and added to the team total! Anyone who chooses not to participate is welcomed to put on temporary CSC handkerchief armbands that look kind of haphazard and to police other people following the rules. This clearly won't end badly, especially since they don't care if people not even in the tournament do this.
After Blind Man's Bluff is the relay race! Still in the hot/humid weather so you're welcome for that. This is simply a race where all participating members of a team run a lap and then have to tag in the next team member to run the next lap. The team to finish first wins - but everyone has to pull a slip of paper from a very ugly hat with a random "requirement" on it, and they can't "finish" their lap until they meet that requirement. Some of the requirements are more stupid than others, and if you don't care for the one you were assigned feel free to make one up as a free repull sort of option.iv. lunch
1st place goes to the CHOCOBOS, 2nd to the SUNFLOWERS, and 3rd to the WILDDOGS, but keep in mind that the rules are fake and the points don't matter, and I just RNG'd things and made sure each of the 6 teams got a placement of some sort in the two events I RNG'd.
The track will be a circular course around town and through the districts that equals roughly a half mile and there is a very non-professional FINISH LINE sign above the finish line, clearly written by people who never quite learned a lesson about spacing words. For the record, this is true of every single goddamned sign in this post. They Tried. Non-participants are once again welcomed to be some of the rule-enforcers but also just to laugh at people or encourage them as they please. Badly made little team flags are provided to onlookers so they can choose who to support, or just collect badly made little team flags.
After the race is a break for lunch! Lunch is provided for participants around the well, as are blankets to picnic on if you want. Lunch is also provided for non-participating gate-crashers. Lunch is like, various meats in blood orange sauce and also grilled veggies and potatoes. There are FRENCH FRIES!!!!!!!! which are maybe not meant to be the highlight of the whole thing but hey, french fries? Some fruits are provided, though not the foretold strawberries as of yet or any desserts.v. trivia questionnaire (holy shit i spelled questionnaire right on my first try praise me)
The weather continues to be really hot and humid so drink that water, maybe.
After lunch people who signed up for the trivia contest are handed out questionnaires to fill out with their correct answers so they can't cheat the system later, which will be collected/kept for judging purposes by whichever Student Council members are overseeing the details. That said if you cheat creatively feel free, there is no law enforcement here beyond mild shame.vi. capture the flag
The questionnaires have the following questions on them but also feel free to make up random-ass getting to know you questions not listed if you prefer, because as always the rules are made up and the points don't matter:
• the basics: name, age, color
• the less basics but still pretty mundane: biggest pet peeve, what superpower would you pick if you had to pick one (if you have superpowers already pick a different one), cats vs. dogs opinion, favorite food, least favorite food, favorite musical genre and/or song, favorite color, who is your best friend, favorite movie (if you don't know what a movie is or don't have one, favorite book or story)
• the why did you even include this dave, what the fuck: is it called coke or pop or soda (fill-in answers are accepted), most recent dream you remember, dumbest way you've ever been injured (be honest), is a hot dog a sandwich and why or why not, if you could breed two animals together to defy science and nature what would you make and why, if you were a ghost what is the first thing you would do haunting wise, how much would someone have to pay you to eat a live spider in whatever currency you use, if you had to choose to speak only in haiku or only in puns for the rest of your life which would it be
After everyone fills out their "control" form the first pair-ups are given out (which you should have received in your comment). Basically the pairs have to fill out a new blank questionnaire - but they have to put down what the other person's answers would be. The person who gets the most questions correct "wins" (with points tallied to the team total accordingly). There are later rounds and such of this so you can have as many match-ups as you would like, and anyone who didn't sign up who wants to play absolutely can do so. There are no rules here it's all for fun. How well do you know your friends? LET'S FIND OUT.
Spoiler alert: the hot and humid weather continues, but as ~victory is claimed~ or a little before that a thunderstorm will start up. Oops! Have fun with that. Capture the Flag takes place...kind of all over town, sorry everyone who is uninvolved! Ignore the participants running around. There are six "bases" in town, two in each district - the WILDCATS and STRAWBERRIES are in red, the SUNFLOWERS and CHOCOBOS are in yellow, and the WILDDOGS and STARS are in blue. Here is how Capture the Flag works, but this will be a mess because it's just a six-teams versus game and haha it's probably ridiculous. Once again participants are asked not to fly higher than five feet and to try not to abuse superpowers all that much "like a giant bag of dicks would do" but once again the Student Council may or may not enforce this. Random bystanders or non-participants are welcomed once again to be judges and rule enforcers, or just to cheer or heckle to their heart's content. The flags, for the record, are sort of poorly embroidered and mostly colorless and may someday be horrifyingly ugly because like the armbands and everything else who knows what color the fabric actually is.vii. closing ceremonies
1st place goes to the WILDCATS, 2nd place to the STARS, and 3rd place to the STRAWBERRIES. Good job, team, but everyone probably did excellently. Or hilariously.
Unfortunately we are now THUNDERSTORMED OUT.
After a rapid clean up and shouted directions to reconvene at Town Hall, the closing ceremonies will take place inside! Towels will be provided after they get them, so dry off. The Student Council saved all the prizes and will award them now in makeshift closing ceremonies with a hummed and beatboxed soundtrack provided by like, Dave, and probably Okuyasu if he could be convinced or anyone else who wants to help. Speeches are totally encouraged, especially if they're dramatic and/or funny. Everyone should have their specific prizes, but for the record the overall team rankings ended up being:
STRAWBERRIES > WILDCATS > STARS > SUNFLOWERS > WILDDOGS > CHOCOBOS via RNG.
Now all the PLAIN STRAWBERRIES and STRAWBERRY-THEMED DESSERTS and OTHER DESSERTS, SANS STRAWBERRIES are revealed! The teams get to go up to the table of DESSERTS in order of overall team placement but honestly there's enough for everyone to get whatever, probably. Non-participants are still welcomed to come have food, no one cares.
And then the day is done, but maybe you want to just chill with your desserts and your team (or random strangers) and wait out the thunderstorm. No one's the boss of you, probably.

[ Evidently!! seeing as they've all piled up, some of them probably already past due, but maybe she can get partial credit for them still. ]
no subject
Now he's kind of concerned about this girl's school life, even though that's ridiculous too.]
You probably won't learn the concepts if you give them to me to do, though... [Minato.] If you want, I guess we could do them together...?
[Stupid]
no subject
[ honestly, why would he expect anything else? ]
That's why I'm trusting this with you. I'm not going to be able to learn all that stuff anyways— I just need to get the work done so I can move onto the next year!
no subject
And mildly:]
But it's just going to make the next year even harder...
no subject
[ SOMEHOW. ]
It's just the math I need help with! Stuff that requires thinking!
no subject
Well... what about this?
I'll help you do your homework, but you have to sit with me while I do.
[You gotta take part in this.]
no subject
'cause it's boring doing homework all by yourself, right? Okay. Then try to get it done quickly! The answers don't all have to be right.
no subject
[Close enough, sure.]
It's nice to meet you, [??? maybe] by the way. Thanks for the... [.... uh] ...prize.
no subject
[ instead of throwing it back in her face and telling her to do her own work, like any responsible person would do ]
I got pens and stuff you can have- and erasers and my school notes! What else do you need?
no subject
That should be fine, really... [Actually, now that he thinks about it:] What year are you in, anyway?
[Clearly not a third year, but--]
1/
2/2
They're going to graduate! They're all going to move away, it's going to be so lonely!!
no subject
...refreshingly normal.]
Are you... going to be okay? You have third year friends?
[They must be important to her for her to act like this.]
no subject
[ Does she have friends? The word still feels so foreign to her; the people she would miss, it's friends but also enemies and everything in between, people she's been with for so long, she's reluctant to let go of any relationship, good or bad. ]
One? I have one— the banchou, he already got held back one year so we got to spend another year together, but it's too late to sabotage him this time!
no subject
He's starting to worry about her? There is so much to worry about her already, and he's only just met her. What...are you doing with your life, Mafuyu...!!]
That's... [no, why]
... I see... [Not at all]
You seemed upset by the thought of them leaving, though. ["Seemed", as if she didn't yell it to the sky.]
no subject
Wouldn't you be upset? You won't be able to see them again, or you gotta ride the train for hours if you want to— and if you live too far, nobody ever rides the train out to see you 'cause it's not worth the effort and its like being abandoned!
[ Is she speaking from experience? yes ]
no subject
...Ah.
[Aaahhh. But she's in a different position this time, right? She'd be the one doing the visiting, not the one waiting longingly for someone to care.]
Is that something you'd do...? Not go see them, even if they're that far away?
no subject
But then she sits back, as if physically withdrawing her answer without actually voicing it, because she knows that's not always possible, or even wanted for both sides of the equation. ]
But I dunno, they'll be busy with college and stuff, right? They won't have time for me anyways. Like when everybody had final exams, and I tried real hard not to bother them, even though that was a little lonely not getting to play with everybody.
no subject
But even so, isn't there a really simple solution to that?]
Have you...asked them? If they'd like for you to come visit, I mean. Or if there are times that would be better to visit, so you can both enjoy them.
no subject
[ Back when she'd been yanked out of her world and dumped into three feet of water in the well out here. ]
It's already too late! I don't have their phone numbers!
[ what kind of friend ]
no subject
But also so chill, because in terms of life-ruining experiences, this isn't really the worst of them. She'll be okay, he thinks.]
Maybe someone else in your year has their number. Someone eles definitely knows them.
It's okay. I'm sure it's not too late.
no subject
No, it's too late 'cause it's been days since graduation's over. Any people keep saying they don't know how to get everybody back.
no subject
It's never too late.
[Not until you're DEAD.]
You can't look at it like all of your chances are done. You can reconnect with them somehow, if you keep trying.
no subject
[ Please absolutely do her homework, don't forget ]
no subject
[IT'S OKAY...]
Can we meet up tomorrow or the day after? We can get it done then.
