FRIENDSHIP TOURNAMENT dun dun dun
WHO: Everyone who signed up over here but also anyone who really wants to crash can!
WHERE: All around town, honestly, which is why it's easy to crash.
WHEN: All day the 18th, although it ends in a thunderstorm.
WHAT: The FRIENDSHIP TOURNAMENT slash game day!
WARNINGS: honestly probably stupidity
0. some ooc notes
WHERE: All around town, honestly, which is why it's easy to crash.
WHEN: All day the 18th, although it ends in a thunderstorm.
WHAT: The FRIENDSHIP TOURNAMENT slash game day!
WARNINGS: honestly probably stupidity
Everyone who signed up should be shortly getting a comment with any relevant information (or should by now have the comment because jazz hands time travel bullshit which is maybe looking at this after I send them and not before). Keep in mind that event placements don't actually matter and were chosen just for some sort of consistent talking point, and just do whatever sounds most fun, basically! Anyone who didn't sign up is free to gate-crash, but I won't be assigning any further match-ups for contests/prizes/teams. Love me. It is incredibly easy to gate crash since the tournament is mostly outside and in public, but there aren't any extras of the team armbands handed out to the sign-ups - there IS enough food and such for everyone, however, and no one haphazardly "in charge" is going to care if non participants participate since they're all pretty easy-going. You do you, guys. Let me know if y'all need anything else!i. setting the scene/warm-ups
For the duration of the 18th there are haphazard decorations all around the town for each of the teams: the WILDCATS, the STRAWBERRIES, the SUNFLOWERS, the CHOCOBOS, the WILDDOGS, and the STARS. Dave chose these names 100% whimsically and does not give a single fuck if teams choose to rename themselves, but all the decorations are themed in those shapes. Particularly strawberries, because they have strawberries. There's a central meet-up area near the well, with some tables dragged out. One of them, with a makeshift umbrella over it just in case, houses the prizes which will be awarded at CLOSING CEREMONIES. Another is where you can go to get your armband and team assignments from one of the "student council members" who are all wearing a second armband with CSC written on it. So you can find them and bother them if you really want, although they're sort of lackadaisical about things like rules and procedure for the most part.ii. blind man's bluff
Name badges are encouraged but not remotely enforced and there's breakfast snack options for people to have as they loiter and introduce themselves. There will be Student Council led warm-ups for the day's activities so no one like, strains a muscle, but for the most part that also doesn't seem to be a requirement. Basically say hi to your team and maybe other people and have some grilled fish or whatever for breakfast, you're welcome.
They've also hauled out several barrels of water with cups for all so you probably can stay hydrated without wandering off for the day.
Directly after breakfast and warm ups, they go into their first game of the day! The weather is Hot and Humid at this point but still dry. Rules can be found here, and additionally participants are asked to not fly more than five feet off the ground and to try to be "like, not assholes about superpowers" although this is haphazardly enforced. Most of the Student Council (why did they decide they were a Student Council for this? who knows) has superpower and can probably stop anyone egregiously cheating, but also some of them will let it go if it's rule of funny or cool. They're clearly a very structured organization.iii. relay race
Points will be accrued for Blind Man's Bluff on an individual basis and added to the team total! Anyone who chooses not to participate is welcomed to put on temporary CSC handkerchief armbands that look kind of haphazard and to police other people following the rules. This clearly won't end badly, especially since they don't care if people not even in the tournament do this.
After Blind Man's Bluff is the relay race! Still in the hot/humid weather so you're welcome for that. This is simply a race where all participating members of a team run a lap and then have to tag in the next team member to run the next lap. The team to finish first wins - but everyone has to pull a slip of paper from a very ugly hat with a random "requirement" on it, and they can't "finish" their lap until they meet that requirement. Some of the requirements are more stupid than others, and if you don't care for the one you were assigned feel free to make one up as a free repull sort of option.iv. lunch
1st place goes to the CHOCOBOS, 2nd to the SUNFLOWERS, and 3rd to the WILDDOGS, but keep in mind that the rules are fake and the points don't matter, and I just RNG'd things and made sure each of the 6 teams got a placement of some sort in the two events I RNG'd.
The track will be a circular course around town and through the districts that equals roughly a half mile and there is a very non-professional FINISH LINE sign above the finish line, clearly written by people who never quite learned a lesson about spacing words. For the record, this is true of every single goddamned sign in this post. They Tried. Non-participants are once again welcomed to be some of the rule-enforcers but also just to laugh at people or encourage them as they please. Badly made little team flags are provided to onlookers so they can choose who to support, or just collect badly made little team flags.
After the race is a break for lunch! Lunch is provided for participants around the well, as are blankets to picnic on if you want. Lunch is also provided for non-participating gate-crashers. Lunch is like, various meats in blood orange sauce and also grilled veggies and potatoes. There are FRENCH FRIES!!!!!!!! which are maybe not meant to be the highlight of the whole thing but hey, french fries? Some fruits are provided, though not the foretold strawberries as of yet or any desserts.v. trivia questionnaire (holy shit i spelled questionnaire right on my first try praise me)
The weather continues to be really hot and humid so drink that water, maybe.
After lunch people who signed up for the trivia contest are handed out questionnaires to fill out with their correct answers so they can't cheat the system later, which will be collected/kept for judging purposes by whichever Student Council members are overseeing the details. That said if you cheat creatively feel free, there is no law enforcement here beyond mild shame.vi. capture the flag
The questionnaires have the following questions on them but also feel free to make up random-ass getting to know you questions not listed if you prefer, because as always the rules are made up and the points don't matter:
• the basics: name, age, color
• the less basics but still pretty mundane: biggest pet peeve, what superpower would you pick if you had to pick one (if you have superpowers already pick a different one), cats vs. dogs opinion, favorite food, least favorite food, favorite musical genre and/or song, favorite color, who is your best friend, favorite movie (if you don't know what a movie is or don't have one, favorite book or story)
• the why did you even include this dave, what the fuck: is it called coke or pop or soda (fill-in answers are accepted), most recent dream you remember, dumbest way you've ever been injured (be honest), is a hot dog a sandwich and why or why not, if you could breed two animals together to defy science and nature what would you make and why, if you were a ghost what is the first thing you would do haunting wise, how much would someone have to pay you to eat a live spider in whatever currency you use, if you had to choose to speak only in haiku or only in puns for the rest of your life which would it be
After everyone fills out their "control" form the first pair-ups are given out (which you should have received in your comment). Basically the pairs have to fill out a new blank questionnaire - but they have to put down what the other person's answers would be. The person who gets the most questions correct "wins" (with points tallied to the team total accordingly). There are later rounds and such of this so you can have as many match-ups as you would like, and anyone who didn't sign up who wants to play absolutely can do so. There are no rules here it's all for fun. How well do you know your friends? LET'S FIND OUT.
Spoiler alert: the hot and humid weather continues, but as ~victory is claimed~ or a little before that a thunderstorm will start up. Oops! Have fun with that. Capture the Flag takes place...kind of all over town, sorry everyone who is uninvolved! Ignore the participants running around. There are six "bases" in town, two in each district - the WILDCATS and STRAWBERRIES are in red, the SUNFLOWERS and CHOCOBOS are in yellow, and the WILDDOGS and STARS are in blue. Here is how Capture the Flag works, but this will be a mess because it's just a six-teams versus game and haha it's probably ridiculous. Once again participants are asked not to fly higher than five feet and to try not to abuse superpowers all that much "like a giant bag of dicks would do" but once again the Student Council may or may not enforce this. Random bystanders or non-participants are welcomed once again to be judges and rule enforcers, or just to cheer or heckle to their heart's content. The flags, for the record, are sort of poorly embroidered and mostly colorless and may someday be horrifyingly ugly because like the armbands and everything else who knows what color the fabric actually is.vii. closing ceremonies
1st place goes to the WILDCATS, 2nd place to the STARS, and 3rd place to the STRAWBERRIES. Good job, team, but everyone probably did excellently. Or hilariously.
Unfortunately we are now THUNDERSTORMED OUT.
After a rapid clean up and shouted directions to reconvene at Town Hall, the closing ceremonies will take place inside! Towels will be provided after they get them, so dry off. The Student Council saved all the prizes and will award them now in makeshift closing ceremonies with a hummed and beatboxed soundtrack provided by like, Dave, and probably Okuyasu if he could be convinced or anyone else who wants to help. Speeches are totally encouraged, especially if they're dramatic and/or funny. Everyone should have their specific prizes, but for the record the overall team rankings ended up being:
STRAWBERRIES > WILDCATS > STARS > SUNFLOWERS > WILDDOGS > CHOCOBOS via RNG.
Now all the PLAIN STRAWBERRIES and STRAWBERRY-THEMED DESSERTS and OTHER DESSERTS, SANS STRAWBERRIES are revealed! The teams get to go up to the table of DESSERTS in order of overall team placement but honestly there's enough for everyone to get whatever, probably. Non-participants are still welcomed to come have food, no one cares.
And then the day is done, but maybe you want to just chill with your desserts and your team (or random strangers) and wait out the thunderstorm. No one's the boss of you, probably.

[ Mafuyu cries about something that sounds like "Ichigo Love" when she sees the team name but it's FRIENDSHIP TOURNAMENT time and she's quick to get her head in the game. Looking over her team roster, she doesn't know most anybody aside from Ochako, so—
Claps her hands!! ]
Okay! Team huddle! If we're going to win this, we've all got to work together, so just listen to me and do what I say!!
[ That's... not working together, okay. ]
ii.blind man's bluff ota
[ When Mafuyu is "it," blindfold around her eyes, her strategy to catch people and ward off distractions is to charge around like a bull with her arms outstretched and screaming on the top of her lungs to drown out anybody who tries to trick her. With so many people around, she's bound to crash into somebody sooner or later, but she might also crash into the picnic tables or fall into the well, so maybe she should listen to people shouting at her.
Once that strategy is a proven failure, keeping quiet honestly works much better for her. While she's never had to do anything blind, she's always been quick on her feet, good at listening, and if anybody gets too close, her movements are very calm and exact, her "tags" a quick punch to the solar plexus that's only sort of held back once she remembers this is supposed to be a friendship thing. ]
iii.relay ota
[ Team Strawberry's twist is "something musical," which probably could have been easily accomplished by borrowing a banjo and furiously strumming it as they run, but no. Mafuyu is a shouter and she's going to be screaming her song at the top of her lungs as she
1) waits for the baton hand-off, ] FASTER! FASTER!♩ YOU'RE ALMOST THERE! HURRY UP~~~!!♫
[ 2) makes her mad dash across her section of the lap, ] EAT MY DUST~♩ ♪
[ and 3) waits impatiently on the sidelines for everybody to finish ] GO, TEAM, GO! EVEN IF YOUR LEGS FALL OFF~♪ YOU CAN REST WHEN YOU'RE DEAD~!!!♫
[ She doesn't need oxygen to run, apparently, and maybe her scream singing will have the throwing everybody else off their pace too— for the other teams, anyways, but her own team isn't immune. ]
iv.trivia John, ota
[ Mafuyu's been shouting her head off all day and neglecting the water because she's Unsure about the water in this little village but okay... this is fine. She looks a little like she's dying, but at least this event she can do while lying on the damp grass, flat on her back, writing down her answers and not having to speak.
Gestures to whoever she's partnered with, with her answers when she's done, which I'll provide in the next tag. ]
How'd I do?
[ Surely this quiz can't be any worse than her school quizzes. Surely she will get more than 16%. ]
v.capture the flag ota
[ Playing defense is boring, so Mafuyu's out in the streets seeking out those flags. She barely knows her way around the town, but that's fine; all she has to do is not get tagged by anybody, and she can take her sweet time with this, trusting the other half of her team to defend their flag until the very end.
She makes sure not to go out on her own, though— either she's got another Strawberry within earshot, or there's a pigeon flying up overhead somewhere (this isn't a power, it's a normal pigeon, maybe nobody will notice and won't call her out on having outside help) with an aerial view of the land and able to call down to her when it sees somebody rounding a corner, or spots a grey flag. ]
vi.prizes Hunk, Minato, ota
[ Somehow, honestly miraculously, the Strawberries managed to win and now everybody gets to devour their namesake. Mafuyu gathers up a bunch of strawberries and skips out on the actual ceremony to sit outside in the rain because ugggggghh this place is so hot and she never did drink any water but maybe she can absorb some water through her skin and feel less like throwing up.
She will, however, be seeking certain people out—
Hunk, to let him know that she won his proffered prize of a gourmet meal, who she greets with a shove to his shoulder and shouting (she's not done shouting, but her voice probably sounds a little hoarse by now) ] Isn't that not fair?! You can cook, and you can fly!!? I'm jealous!
[ and also Minato, who she has a prize for. ] Hey! Hey, you're Minato, right?! How good are you at math? [ Please do her homework, she desperately needs a passing grade, assuming she ever manages to get back home. ]
pr...izes...
Until.
Well.

She's not entered in any of the events, mind you, but when she sees that there are CSC armbands just kind of arbitrarily floating around, she's definitely going to be stealing one and putting one on, because what better way to fit in than by acting like 1) you belong here and 2) you know what you're doing. Otherwise, she's not wearing her long black cloak, today; quite the contrary, she's looking the part of a very normal kid in a pair of cargo pants and a T-shirt, with a backpack resting lightly on her shoulders.
She'll be showing particular interest in the trivia contest, which may or may not entail trying to collect people's control sheets and surreptitiously read them before handing them over to the Student Council proper. That's probably fine and definitely not at all because she's snooping on people's personal information in an attempt to get a quiet leg up on her surroundings.
You also might find her near the food, obviously. You'd have to watch closely to notice she's only eating from things that she's visibly watched other people take from first, but hey, just because food is free doesn't mean it's innocent. Always be skeptical.
Once it starts to storm, however, and everyone makes a dash for the town hall, she runs along too, but doesn't go inside along with everyone else; instead, she remains outside the building, underneath an awning in the hopes of not getting too wet, and hangs out near one of the windows to eavesdrop without actually being a part of the proceedings inside.]

Blind Man's Bluff
[Maribelle has been blindfolded, and is... not doing that great. This is pretty much the fifth time she's fallen flat on her face. Ow. Help?]
Who invented this wretched game in the first place?! It's completely unfair! And this better not be mud I'm feeling...
Relay Race
[The item Maribelle needs to find for the relay race? A perfectly round pebble. Why oh why did you have to give the word "perfectly" to Maribelle? She's on her knees, going through pebbles, tossing them over her shoulder.]
No... no... no... Gods! The one thing I need, and it's impossible to find! It's like they did this on purpose! What did I ever do to them?
Trivia - Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki
[Maribelle squints at the questionnaire, glancing up at her 'ally' every now and then in total confusion.]
... Is it cheating if I ask you define some of these words, as I've never heard of them before? What in the world is pop, coke or soda?
Capture The Flag
[So, uh, the Stars have not been doing great all day. Which may be why when an errant gust of wind blows a flat to the top of a tree... Up she goes. Dripping wet, she kind of looks and sounds like a madwoman.]
Don't think you can get away from me that easily! THE DAY IS MINE, DO YOU HEAR ME?
Prizes - Aqua
[Well, she's supposing it could'be been worse. Once she's told who Aqua is, she approaches the young lady, wet but courteous.]
Miss Aqua, is it?
Prizes - Warrick Chopper
[And on the flipside, congrats Warrick, you win horseback riding lessons! Maribelle had brought along her horse, and proudly displays her. Ta-daaa!]

[Look, it's kind of early. Minato's gotten used to being able to sleep in in this place, and waking up early for some wholesome friendly family fun isn't really his idea of a good time, even if he told Dave he'd be there.
So he's...here...but he's not all here. He's definitely still half-asleep while everyone bustles around setting things up, and might even be mistaking his nametag for his breakfast snack.
Oh god he's about to take a bite out of it. Oh no, there it goes--and he's making an immediate face, nose wrinkling. Ew.]

[I sat here for like five minutes trying to figure out how a capture the flag team with Minato on it could win, but really, he's mostly there to cheer them on. He doesn't have any asshole super powers that'll help, and he's also low on the effort scale, so he's mostly staying out of the way.
He'll like...try to grab a flag half-heartedly if it's there in front of him, but let's be real, in this chaos that's rare, and he's happy for that.
Until he's leaning against a building and a flag (yours, knocked out of your hand? Another team's, fluttering in the breeze that you were after? Who knows) drifts lazily to land on his head.
He blinks. Wait, what--]

[President Dave is doing a wonderful job handing out armbands to the newcomers, and so VP Ochako is just... standing over by the prize table, doling out name badges to anyone who asks for one. She has a pack of eight markers and she is not afraid to use them.]
Can you tell me your name? Oh, and tell me your favorite color, too!
[Each name badge will come with a cute little doodle scribbled in the corner. What is it a doodle of? A sunflower? A strawberry with wings (thanks for that idea, Dave)? Or maybe it's impossible to tell what she was going for, but the important thing is that she tried.]
ii. blind man's bluff
[Someone is definitely going to cheat during this game, and when they do, Ochako is going to sneak right up behind them, give them a quick tap on the shoulder... and tug them toward the sidelines, because hey, guess what? Thanks to her quirk, the cheater is suddenly completely weightless. Have fun being pulled behind her like a balloon!]
Let's take a break, okay?
[Not that they have a say in the matter?]
iii. relay race
[Ochako's "twist item" is a person from another team, which is why she sprints right over to the the first non-teammate she sees and slips her arm through theirs. Were they trying to enjoy the festivities from the sidelines? Too bad. Now they have an overly excited girl trying to tug them over to the makeshift track.]
Come with me, please! [Is she... jogging in place as she waits for her item to get a move on? Of course she is.] I promise that it won't take long, but it's really, really important!
iv. lunch
[If Ochako spots anyone sitting all by their lonesome, she's going to drop right down beside them without a second thought. Hello, new friend! Enjoy her sunny smile on this overcast day.]
The fries are the best! Have you tried them yet?
[She has an entire plate full, and she will gladly share.]
v. trivia - hunk + anyone who wants to join in??
[I'll put the answers in the comment, I guess? This thing is long enough as it is. Anyway: Ochako is staring down at her little questionnaire sheet, looking very uncertain about the answers she scribbled down. Sorry, Hunk and/or anyone else who wants to play this with her! Since she has absolutely no clue what the correct responses are, everything is going to sound goofy.]
M-Maybe you should go first.
vi. STRAWBERRIES
[This is the moment she's been waiting for all darn day. Catch her over by the dessert table, where she is totally tearing up as she tries her very first strawberry. Don't judge her? She likes her sweets!!
But after she's eaten her fair share of the fruit, she's going to wander around the town hall and chat with friends and strangers alike. Everyone deserves a pat on the back for trying their best... and all members of Team Strawberry deserve an enthusiastic high-five, because wow, they actually won! Jump around and savor this completely meaningless victory with her.]
vii. a picture with a princess
[There are far too many people crammed into this building, but Ochako eventually manages to find her way to Zelda's side. They know each other's names by virtue of being on the same team, and that's... about it, really, which is why she offers the other girl a friendly smile and a strawberry. As cool as the picture prize is, it can wait another minute or two; the real prize, she thinks, is the opportunity to make a new friend. She's cheesy like that.]
Here! There weren't many left, so... I grabbed an extra one for you.
wildcard!!!!!!
[Want to do something else? The stupider, the better, tbh. Go wild...]
am i skipping to the end? a little
Yes, duh, it was probably even louder. But a friendly kind of loud and competitive, of course, because it's them... anyway, now they've been rained out and the "student council" dorks have probably spent the most time out there, grabbing stuff to take inside and telling people where to go. Now that his team has really and truly lost, so thoroughly, what the hell, he's done shouting— and he comes with a peace offering, a towel he drops over her head and shoulders.
To his credit, there is no noogie. He's grown as a person from his defeat, and... no, just take his peace towel.]

Well, if you ever become a ghost, you clearly need to help me rig a cee-lo game or two. [ Is that the same as 'get rich'? ] We'd split the winnings, of course. I'm sure ghosts can still use money.
[ Yes? No? Can it be exchanged into ghost-money? ]

[Akira is only in two events today, the relay and Capture the Flag, so during the other events he's just watching and cheering on the Wilddogs.
Well, if you count "cheering" as watching quietly, and occasionally doing what is best described as a golf clap. Even at a sports tournament, Akira isn't all that loud...]
B: Lunch
[Akira hasn't exactly loaded his plate up with food, but he does have some as he goes to look for a spot on the blankets. Really, he should probably be eating more (he's been losing weight again, since he got here), but he doesn't want to take too much from others...
But it's fine! It's a picnic and picnics are fun! So he approaches a blanket and speaks to whoever is already there:]
Anyone sitting here?
C: Closing Ceremonies
[He won a plastic bag! Yay!
Akira has gotten himself a sliver of some dessert and has leaned himself against the wall at the back of the room. He wouldn't begrudge some company, though.]
D: Closed to Akechi
[The flag... is not where it's supposed to be.
It had been hidden on the back railing of a colorless boat dock, and they'd been hoping that the gray of the flag against the gray of the wood would keep it hidden. But as Akira comes back to check, he sees it isn't there.
So if he were a thief trying to get away with a flag, where would he go...?
His eyes go to the boat next to him, and he's quickly launching himself over the railing and the gap. He's off!
no subject
And in this case, plan B is fairly simple: go for the mad dash. ]
Good thinking, Kurusu-kun! [ The old-timey shirt and ponytail might be misleading, but the friendly and slightly teasing tone should be familiar enough-- even as Akechi is running quite ahead of him. ] A little too slow, though!
[ How can he so effortlessly talk even while running like that? Flawless Akechi magic, that's how. ]

[This is actually pretty normal for Percy Jackson. Camp used to have things like this (chariot races, capture the flat, whatever) and part of him kind of feels homesick but the other part kind of feels glad that it's something almost-normal. As such, he's playing along and he's grabbing an armband for the WILDDOGS since that is apparently a thing. Percy ignores the need for a name badge and seems to be drinking water as he wanders around. He's off doing his own warm-ups but he'll approach anybody who happens to be on his team.]
So I guess we're working together for the day, huh?
ii. blind man's bluff, ota
[Percy's better at dodging out of the way when he's not "it", easily stepping out of whoever's grasp and doing enough fancy dives and rolls that might lead someone to believe he's used to being chased by people. As it stands, he doesn't have any powers or anything to cheat beyond athletic prowess.
Blindfolded though is a little trickier and he seems to keep still, carefully listening before immediately charging without warning. The touch isn't necessarily a punch, but it's definitely enough to push people back a few feet. Whoops.]
relay race, ota
[Speed is pretty much something he's honed and learned to use to his advantage, so running a lap around the town seems pretty easy. He's just about to complete his lap when he remembers the slip of paper in his hand and he stops to stare at it, groaning suddenly.]
Does it really count if most of the leaves are gray? [He shakes his head and charges off, running mostly <>b>through Flavo and looking around. He's also not shy about approaching anyone nearby, still jogging in place because. Why not.]
Does this leaf look pretty enough to you? [It's a random gray leaf. It's not really that pretty. Please help him.]
lunch, ota
[Food. Food that doesn't take like ash? That's even better and he has a plate before he settles somewhere in the grass and probably in the way. Sorry about him, please feel free to step over him or tell him to move or join him.]
trivia
[So this is apparently a thing against Dave Strider but for the curious you're free to try it? He's pretty sure only one person in the world who can answer these correctly anyway.
As it is, Percy's just…eyeballing his questionnaire for whoever he happens to be up against whether it's Dave or it's somebody else or whatever.]
I kind of feel like we're at a slight disadvantage here. [But he's grinning anyway while he's writing stuff in.]
capture the flag
[A GAME HE'S GOOD AT. Percy's immediately like. Ignoring the fact it's starting to cloud over and he'll gather his teammates as best as he can before he starts gesturing with his hands toward their base in Bluo.]
Okay, so who's actually good at guarding and who's not afraid to get wet? We should maybe pretend to have a strategy.
[Feel free to engage as a teammate or an enemy while the game's going! On the other hand, everybody else is heading in when the rain begins to pour and Percy is still outside kind of leisurely wandering around. Water never hurt anybody, right?]
closing/wildcard
[He's still pretty dry despite the thunderstorm somehow but closing ceremonies are fun. He's busy hanging back and eventually he'll get dessert for himself, but he's busy tracking the movements of everybody else.]
These prizes aren't too bad. [Cheerful. Either way, come chat with him while he's goofing off, come collect your prize if you're Keigo, etc.]
relay
Not at all. What'd you do, pick one randomly off a pile? [It's GROSS.] You're supposed to find a pretty leaf?

[As a good best friend, John has to be enthusiastic about what's going on. But then again, like, he would be excited regardless. His team is made up of some of his favorite people but also some new people he can get to know and that's pretty much all he cares about. His WILDCATS armband is slipped on and he even scrawls out a nametag that says "john :D" on it before slapping it on his other sleeve.
For people on his team, he'll immediately bounce up to them and grin.] This should be fun, don't you think?
[For people not on his team…well. He'll still say hi and mingle even while he's trying to follow along with the warm-ups. Alas.]
blind man's bluff
[Who's a cheater? Probably John. He's really bad at limiting himself to five feet and he hovers a little higher than that and probably has to be called down. Are you enforcing those rules? Are you going to tattle on him? Or would you just like to leave him alone?
When it's his turn to be "it" though, John's strategy is careful listening before turning into the wind, disappearing from sight and reappearing close to try and tag whoever's nearby. Maybe that counts as cheating, too.]
relay race
[Before he even starts running his lap he decides it's better to collect his item. That seems like it'll be harder and so he's approaching everybody who's waiting for their lap or even spectators. He holds up his slip of paper to show off the fact he's not being weird. (He's maybe being weird.)]
If I promise to be careful with it, can I borrow something from you?
lunch
[Food's kind of important, but given that it's hot out John's kind of more likely to be found carrying cups of water and approaching anyone who looks a little dried out.]
Here. You look like you could use this.
trivia
[After playing against Mafuyu (with…varying results), John decides he may as well pair up with other people. His answers are probably easy but he's reading over the questionnaire before he just…kind of rolls his eyes?]
It's soda, holy shit, Dave. [That's. That's helpful.]
capture the flag
[Once again he's up in the air but this time he's obeying the air laws and keeping mostly to the ground. He's also really good with team work, helping split up the team and get them ready to win!!!
Since like. That's a thing. They win and that's really nice? But overall he's fine with running back and forth to distract other team members and direct his team. On the other hand…he's also easy to distract. Help.]
closing/wildcard
[It's unfortunate that he's also happy with his 2nd place metal and keeps it around his neck. For anybody he happens to come across, he'll wave in greeting.]
Nice job. Thanks for playing. [Like he helped organize any of this? He's also open to collecting and delivering prizes so like. That's a thing. More or less he's lingering around and also picking the strawberries off of the actual dessert he's picked up. The strawberries are eaten, but the rest of the dessert is left behind. Alas.]

[There's literally no one at this entire friendship tournament more stoked about his team assignment than Prompto "CHOCOBOS!!!!!!" Argentum. After a loud "WHAT? ALL RIGHT!" at the StuCo table, Prompto runs around eagerly with his Chocobos armband, grinning like a fool and eagerly seeking out the other members of his team.]
Guys! Guys, we gotta come up with a cheer! Come on! Chocobos, choco-go!
[FIST! PUMP!]
iii. #Relayable
[So! Prompto's picking and choosing his battles, but for once, he feels pretty sure of himself. A foot race! Running is, like, the one thing he really knows how to do. As the time draws near, he limbers up, ratty bandanna untied from his arm to go around his forehead instead. Gotta keep his hair out of his face without styling gel somehow.
And then he gets his "requirement."]
Uhh, crap. [He raises his voice, hands cupped around his mouth.] Hey! Does anyone have some glasses I can borrow for a minute?
[Of course, once he's kitted out with some specs, he's off like a shot. Gotta do his best for the team!]
iv. Lunch of Champions
[Floating on victory, Prompto plates himself a fairly generous portion of foodstuffs and finds a place to sit, grinning dumbly but genially at everyone. He even waves.]
Hey! Great tournament so far, huh? You know, I'm really feeling the friendship.
v. A Trivial Matter
[He's not actually participating in this one! He didn't feel comfortable guessing stuff about a bunch of total strangers or having them guess about him. But he's got one of the extra forms and is filling it out for funsies.
• the basics: name (Prompto Argentum), age (20), color (Yellow)
• the less basics but still pretty mundane: biggest pet peeve (When tall people stick your face in their armpits!!), what superpower would you pick if you had to pick one (Talking to animals!), cats vs. dogs opinion (They're both cute!! But dogs if I have to pick ONE), favorite food (Anything spicy!), least favorite food (Stinky tofu), favorite musical genre and/or song (This is cheesy but the Justice Monsters V theme!), favorite color (Green? No, blue!), who is your best friend (NOCT!), favorite movie (Space Fight Episode IV: A Fresh Dream)
• the why did you even include this dave, what the fuck: is it called coke or pop or soda (Soda??), most recent dream you remember (Um pass), dumbest way you've ever been injured (Run through by a daemon I was trying to take a picture of), is a hot dog a sandwich and why or why not (Oh man I guess so technically!), if you could breed two animals together to defy science and nature what would you make and why (DOG AND CHOCOBO BECAUSE THEY ARE THE BEST!!!), if you were a ghost what is the first thing you would do haunting wise (Cry, I don't want to be dead!), how much would someone have to pay you to eat a live spider in whatever currency you use (NOT ENOUGH, THERE ISN'T ENOUGH MONEY IN EVERY WORLD COMBINED), if you had to choose to speak only in haiku or only in puns for the rest of your life which would it be (You haikouldn't pay me enough! Too much counting!)
Since he's not actually playing, Prompto keeps his sheet for now. He's drawing chocobos in the margins. Someone's really got some team spirit.]
vi. Flag Him Down
[More running, Prompto's here for this! Except by here, we mean lost. No one would put a speedy stealth guy on defense, of course, but Prompto's so new to Chroma, the freedom to move around has unmoored him entirely.]
Hello? Chocobos? ...Noct?
[hlep.]
x. Wildcard
[Prompto's sitting out Blind Man's Buff and Trivia, so feel free to run into him cheering his teammates on. He's also here for closing ceremonies and stuff, so yeah. ENJOY. He sure is!]
vi
Game's over, dude. We lost.

[ zelda is, for the moment, the 'it' one. she's never once played a game like this, or really many games at all, but she's eager to make her best shot at winning. once the blindfold is on she's off around the small playing field, arms coming out to wave at open air...
...and walk in the opposite direction of you, who is playing against her. oh dear. ]
lunch time! - open
[ zelda has never been one for a large appetite, and so while she finishes all the provided fruits, she is still left with a good chunk of food. picks herself up from her spot on the blanketed ground and begins to glance around, trying to see if anyone else might be interested. and if she feels like you are-- ]
Excuse me. I don't have the appetite to finish my lunch. Would you like it instead?
trivia - for greed
[ oh... it's this uncouth man. either rotten luck or rotten fate has led them to be paired up for this trivia game.
zelda writes her questionnaire as the following:
name: zelda
age: 17
color: blue
superpower: barrier
cats vs dogs: dogs
are hotdogs a sandwich: no
favorite season: spring
favorite animal: horse
favorite instrument: harp
haikus or puns: haikus ]
So it seems we meet again. [ said vaguely like he is an arch-nemesis. ]
chocobo - for noctis
[ among her prizes for the tournament was a chance to meet a chocobo owned by someone in the village. however, she has no sense of what a chocobo is at all. thus she embarks to the location she was given to collect on her reward, the owner's home, straightening herself up and feeling a quiet mix of curiosity and nervousness all the same. she knocks on the door. ]
Hello? This is Zelda. I have arrived to speak with a man by the name of Noctis.

Enter One Not So Secretive Lurker
Back home there were places to visit, islands to head to, events he could slip into mostly unnoticed and battles he could participate in without too much interaction. Here was like being trapped in the smallest part of Alola with way too much population for his liking, but it wasn't like he had a choice in the matter.
Some time around the start of the Blind Man's Bluff he gave in to the annoying restlessness and gathered up his belt and Pokeballs, calling to Sivally to head out to the event.
Again, too many people for his liking, but whatever. It was better than staying in that room all day.
He wasn't signed up for any of the events, of course, nor did he really want to participate, but he didn't mind watching. Lurking on sidelines during different games he and Sivally watched the different events taking place quietly. He was somewhat obvious in his lurking, and found himself mildly amused at the ridiculousness of it all despite his better judgement. This is what people without Pokemon did to entertain themselves? Huh.
Having lunch provided was a pleasant surprise, and he even let the rest of his team out to share some of the grub with them.
For someone who was trying to not stick out like a sore thumb, being the only guy surrounded by odd looking creatures happily partaking in his meal wasn't really helping his cause any.
And much to his surprise, he wound up staying the entire event. He wasn't expecting to be so enamored with it (not that he would ever admit to such a thing) but it was oddly amusing to be at least a minor part of.
Feel free to talk to him at any point during his odd lurking. The boy really does need to make some friends and this is a rare moment of willing social interaction for him1...]
