[ Maya's been back for about a day, a little concerned about failing but overall determined to deal with it. However, that thought flees from her mind the instant she spots someone-- no, wait, she knows that someone?? ]

Yusuke-kun?! What's wrong?? Are you hurt??

[ Yeah, she's going to just charge over to help prop him up. ]

[But thank you for the concern. He's about as pale as all get-out, though, and he's kind of like a limp noodle.

...And then his stomach growls.

Not even in a cute way. In a demon-straight-from-hell way.]

... Oh. You're hungry!

Here, slide down a little. I've got food.

It has been several days.

Yusuke doesn't hesitate to slide, though, grimacing at his hunger pangs. No, not super big on this. Perhaps he ought to have eaten after all? But he doesn't regret it too much.]

[ She doesn't have a whole lot on her, but she still has that tin of canned crab that she's been saving. However!! This is an emergency, so she's immediately pulling it out of her jacket and popping the lid off to press it into his hands. ]

[Oh... It smells good. He hasn't had crab in a while and his stomach pangs harder, way so super eager to get a taste of food. Yusuke hesitates, however.]

Are you certain? I am grateful, but...

[MAYA THIS IS YOUR CRAB]

[ Maya shakes her head, smiling as reassuringly as she can. ]

You're more important. It's not even a question.

[The thanks is only partially for the crab. And he hesitates over using his fingers, but what can you do. DOWN THE HATCH and then one bite in and he's wolfing it down, nearly.]

It is... quite amazing how delicious something tastes when you've reached this level of hunger. [He's just about done. Yeah. Just scraps left in the can at this point.]

Don't even worry about it! I was saving it for a good cause or a special occasion, and I'd say this counts as both.

[He's definitely still unsteady, and pale as anything... but he can be stubborn too. He can't just go on sitting here in the street anyhow.]

I see... [Hmm. Yeah. That really is nice of her.] I hope to make this the only occasion where I become this bad.

Were you trying to avoid eating?

Yes. The bluebird... he is gone now, but he would make quite a fuss if I tried eating anything. I presumed that was the "temptation" I was not supposed to give into.

I thought that might be it... I can't believe they'd give you a quest like that... one that actually endangers your health.

It is not so strange. They give us quests to seek out dangerous creatures as well.

[...But you don't normally have to starve yourself for that, Yusuke. Also it's optional!! He's starting to walk, slowly, but gestures absently for Maya to come along.]

That's kind of... entirely different. We were forced to do this, weren't we?

[ But sure, she'll follow along, keeping her steps a little slower to match Yusuke's weary stride. ]
