[ Noctis says swiftly -- but hell, Guren is good. He nods when the other jorogumo is vanquished and straightens up, with half a mind to wonder just what it is about that sword that he has (is it magic?). He'll ask it later; the important thing is that they need to find the third.
But it's short-lived, there's another rustling sound, and this time a woman comes out. Not a spider, just a woman, more beautiful than any other and with the world's most low-cut dress, specially designed to draw the male gaze. Or female. Whatever.
Noctis pauses, then glances over at Guren. ]
I think that's our fourth.
[ Because behind them, another soft giggle. He turns in the direction of the sound, making sure that he has his companion's back and vice versa. Jeez, how many are there? ]

[Guren steps so that his back presses against Noctis', confirming that he's there and that each of them are facing one of the creatures. Or at least the direction... He turns so that he can speak to Noct directly. Quietly.]
Let them get close, I've got an idea. Just follow my lead, and keep your weapon in your hand.

[ Casting illusions, huh? If it's true, it's going to be a pain as well. Straightening up, he keeps his gaze fixed on the thing approaching him, ever aware of Guren at his back. They continue to approach them, unearthly giggling making his skin crawl. Six, why are they this creepy?
Tightening his grip on his sword, he murmurs. ]
Ready when you are, buddy.

Dragging his own jorogumo victim along with his sword, he flings her at the other one probably still on Noctis' blade, sending them both tumbling back.]
Finish them!

Thankfully, Noctis is quick enough to get his bearings halfway along the spin, and he launches himself forward, using the momentum to impale them both with his sword, the force of it slamming through bone and flesh with a sickening crack that reverberates through the unnaturally silent forest.
He twists his sword with a grunt, narrowly avoiding the blood and gunk before he leaps off, landing lightly on his feet. But oh, hell, this feels good; this feels like something he's missed, actually getting to hunt and kill things, and there's something that comes alive in him, intent and purpose dormant underneath the guise of reticence. Ultima gleams, briefly, before he nods at his companion, evidently pleased.
Yeah, they can definitely work together. ]
Wanna go find more?
no subject
[He likes that spirit. Flicking the blood off of his sword and to the side, he walks back over to Noctis, taking a look around.]
What? Four girls and you're still not satisfied? [He has jokes, sometimes.] I think we should leave some for the others doing this quest.
[He says that, but he's slaying spiders with so many people.......] Good work, though. That was smooth.

[ Like he's a pervert or something! But he's relaxing anyway, Ultima disappearing from his hand in a heartbeat once there's no longer any use for it. ]
So were you. [ He gestures to his sword. ] That's something special, isn't it?
no subject
Yeah. A black series demon weapon. That means I borrow strength from the demon contained inside of it.
no subject
His brows raise at that. Demon sword? ]
There's a demon inside there?
no subject
[A demon in here, a demon in him, it's all the same, really. But he doesn't want to alarm anyone, really, even if hearing "demon" alarms most people automatically.]
It's the only way to kill vampires.
no subject
[ Noctis says after a moment. Demons, daemons, generally similar, right? Monstrosities out to consume humanity or whatever. Vampires, though, that one's new. He pauses in his steps, regarding him curiously. ]
Didn't think they really existed. What're they like?
no subject
[He slides his sword away, glancing coolly through the trees and then gesturing for Noct to follow him back towards town.]
Apparently, they lose their human emotions. They're far stronger than humans, too, and immortal. Unless you kill them with a weapon like mine.
no subject
[ Noctis says after a moment, parsing the information -- reading in between the lines, it's more than likely that his world's just as messed up as Noctis' own, too. He's following him back to the town, hands in his pockets. ]
no subject
[The Japanese Imperial Demon Army, he means, of course, and he feels like his uniform is enough to assume that he means the army that fights vampires. He's quiet, remembering something not too long ago, but he keeps walking.]
Not a lot, all things considered. I don't know the recent counts. A lot of people have died.
no subject
[ Well, that sounds depressing. Noctis is sympathetic as he keeps pace with him easily. ]
Sorry to hear that. It must have sucked.
[ Losing people is hard, man. ]

[--Guren, 2k18, the man who doesn't accept it and move on.]
no subject
he swallows, hard, and thinks of insomnia, fallen. his father dead in a desperate gambit noctis still doesn't understand. ]
It stays with you still, doesn't it?
no subject
Yeah, of course. Something like that doesn't just go away.
