[OPEN] F is for fire that burns down the whole town
WHO: Vriska, Kenny, and YOU!
WHAT: Bored annoyed children decided that fire was the answer to their boredom. By which I mean: they've built a bonfire by the well. Anyone and everyone is free to join them.
WHEN: Let's say 3/19!
WHERE: The well, though you're free to wander around, of course.
WARNINGS: Foul-mouthed children, really.
I.
[ There is a stack of wood by the well, crudely chopped.
When did that get there?? That's weird. Who would go around just putting poorly chopped wood by the well for some reason? Speaking of, the "wood" is a real hack job, all split branches and twigs and small logs. It's almost like some kids put all this here or something.
Actually some kids did put this all here. Because here's Vriska and Kenny walking up with more wood. ]
Hey! We're gonna start a bonfire. Wanna help us?
[Fortunately for those around, Kenny's hood is down.]
It'll be cool! The more wood we get, the bigger the fire. Who doesn't like fire?
II.
[ The fire is going! It is a big roaring warm bonfire. It's, uh, gray, so the light of it is not quite as bracing as it could be, but it is undeniably providing heat and light, so there's that, at least.
Come by and get warm, or roast something over the fire, provided you found something, uh, roastable. There's probably a few fish, their tails sticking out of the well's bucket, which seems to have been repurposed as a fish holding device. At the very least, there's a few sticks set aside for roasting!
Meanwhile, Vriska and Kenny don't look completely satisfied. ]
Man. We need more stuff to burn. Or cook. Or both.
I saw a store. Let's go see what we can find.
( ooc: vriska is blue, kenny is black! anyway, this is an open mingle log, so come talk to the kids or just hang out! feel free to make your own prompts or work off the ones provided. )

[ Anyway, you can still find her bringing wood back and forth. It's almost ... too much wood ...? how big a fire do these kids need anyway ]
It is too bad we don't have an axe. At least the fire should be pretty kickass anyway!
II.
[ Most of the night you can find Vriska just sitting in front of the fire, soaking it in. Since she doesn't need to eat she doesn't bother very much with any food, though she'll find leaves and other small-but-combustible things to throw in for her own amusement. ]
Gray fire. Pretty weird, right?
ii
[ so, like. bonus. dave is more leaning up against the well as he sits (because he's tired enough he's sure he'd fall over eventually otherwise, but he looks calm, so) and watches vriska throwing things in on occasion. ]
What is it, do you think, that makes burnin' shit so enjoyable? I've never tried so I have like, no first-hand experience on the matter. Unless you count burning bridges, an activity which I'm sure everyone ever has done at least once. Frequently on accident.

[ Vriska is just kinda curled up in a ball, arms wrapped loosely around her crossed ankles. She'll continue tossing things into the flames without seeming to really think about it, her motions idle.
His comment will get a brief snort of amusement. ]
You and me both. I am pretty much the expert at burning bridges. But as for actually burning real stuff and not relationships? Shrug. There's something satisfying about it, I guess.
[ She'll nudge a few things his way. Some twigs and some leaves. The lid of a can. That's definitely smart to throw in the bonfire. ]
Here. Try it.

so it lands firmly in the flames, nicking the wood of a log but not quite lodging there. ]
Maybe it's enjoyable because there are things you just cannot burn, so it's satisfying to do away with those that you can.

[He's found the driest sticks, leaves, and pine needles that he can. It'll be sure to catch fire quickly.] Do we have anything to act as accelerant?

Yeah.
... Do you want actual red fire?
no subject
Sure. [ the faintest of smiles. ] That would be nice.

He nudges it to bonfire, gray and orange mixing together.]
Looks like that's the best I can do.
[For now, anyway. It's nice to use his fire like this. He doesn't get a lot of changes to use it domestically.]

If it's anything like the other food found around here, the s'mores would be the scary campfire story. It'd be such a cheap farce; it's probably better not to have to live with that disappointment.
[Though what he'd give for even one knish that actually tastes like real food. Or anything.]

[ but they could Pretend the smores didn't taste like...ash, probably? ]

[Imagine pizza being ruined forever. The horror.]
Unless you really hate someone, then it might be a great time to give them something that would normally be good.

I cannot believe she had to build a bigger fire than we did. [Things that are a joke: that.]

[ dave's voice is a little rough around the edges but he doesn't cough or anything; for the most part, he's managing to play off being sick pretty well. he just glances over to assess john before returning his gaze to the fire. which is, really, pretty impressive. ]
So, a life ring.

[Kyle doesn't need to be asked twice to help. Being without a proper internet connection and video games is doing a number on him. He might have connectivity issues, but the point is, he's point out of his mind. But you know what's not boring?
Fire.
In no time at all, he's helping gathering wood for the fire. Some of it gets set aside to add on later, some of it he takes the time to meticulously place onto the bonfire before it's lit, some of it's kindling that he's got to get on his hands and knees to stuff in the right spots.
Either way, he's there and hoping explosions happen.]
II.
[He's still not used to the lack of color. Will he ever be? Kyle doubts it. But it's weird to be standing near this fire. He can feel its warmth, there's enough different shades of grey that he can tell the fire is illuminating the space around him in as much as possible. But he misses the reds, yellows, oranges, blues--all of the hues that make up the different parts of the flames.]
Hey, let's see if we can find stuff to throw in it.
[Kyle might be the responsible mom friend but that's only to a certain circumstances. This is clearly one of the exceptions.]

What're you thinking? There is definitely a bunch of busted up furniture we can use as fuel.

I bet you if we explore some of the stores, we can find some sick shit to throw in. If we find fireworks, we'll hit the jackpot.
no subject
Yeah, dude! It'd be awesome. C'mon, let's go look for stuff. If we can't find fireworks, we can probably find an aerosol or something. That's bound to explode too.
no subject
[Kenny grins and runs off with his friend. There has to be a store around here with something flammable inside. Explosive would be better. Time to fuck shit up!]

[Gathering wood is something Kenny likes doing. It was fun to find fallen logs, twigs, and anything else they could find to burn. As he is gathering them, he moves to start grabbing large rocks to create a circle around the bonfire too. They did need to make sure to not set the entire town on fire, no matter how sick that would be.]
We need more rocks. I wanna make sure we have enough for the fire pit. You got any clue where we can look?
II.
[With the fire roaring, Kenny is grabbing sticks and poking the grey fire. He holds up the burning stick and starts to wave it around like a sparkler. He giggles as he walks around, waving his flaming stick. Once it's near his hand, he tosses it into the fire and grabs a new one. Someone is clearly having fun and entertaining himself.
Someone stop him before he lights a house on fire?
Or will you join him in his irresponsible fun?]
