Eight of them.

They run out, twitching and generally being small, strange assholes, pretty successfully distracting all the geese if the angry honking is any indication. ]

[What the fuck are these? He recognizes Vriska's dice and his eyes widen a bit as they roll before the weasels appear and begin running amok. The geese honk and flap, distracted by the creatures and chasing after them. John watches for a few brief moment before he vaults into action, immediately tackling and throwing the three geese one by one into his sylladex. One, two, three.

The weasels continue running back and forth and he floats high enough to avoid them.]

Four down, eight to go. What are we supposed to do with these things? [A gesture to the new creatures.]

[Shouto just squints at the weird creatures. He's never seen anything like them before, but they seem like they're distracting the geese well enough.]

We need to bring them back to the town. I don't know if we need to do anything else with them.

[Shouto approaches one of the angry geese and just. Picks it up.

It's incredibly unhappy and squirms in his hands.]

It's a finite attack. It'll go away on its own.

[ casually gathering up her dice.

she's not gonna help the boys, you two can catch geese on your own. hasn't she already done enough to help? they should put in at least SOME effort.

so she'll just float here like a useless asshole. ]

Cool, can we get them to follow us? Shouto's right, we just have to bring the geese to town and if the attack goes away eventually we will not have to worry. Also I can take that, it looks kind of pissed. [He'll hold out his hand for the fifth geese, waiting for Shouto to hand it over.]

Which direction should we go next?

[He'll very happily hand this goose over to John. The goose however is mad enough at being picked up and now it's suffering the indignity of being passed off.

It tries very hard to bite John.]

... Maybe further forward? There could be a hoard of them somewhere.

[ The two of them may or may not see Vriska's hand wave, but John will, very fortunately, not end up getting bitten at all. How lucky!

Vriska will set her feet on the ground. ]

Sure. Let's keep going. We're doing pretty well so far, after all. Just follow the honking until something tries to kill John again.

[ a smile. ]

[He worries about the geese, but he doesn't get bit. Wow!! That is lucky!! The goose disappears into his sylladex with a final, annoyed honk.]

We're already halfway there! Between me and Shouto catching them and Vriska distracting them we are getting them faster than I thought. [There's a bright grin and he floas forward to lead the way.] Forward's a good start.

[They only get about fifteen feet ahead before he pauses.] Honking. That way. [And he moves forward brushing past a thicket of bushes where there's another cluster of geese.]

[Ah. Maybe it was Vriska? He thinks he saw her wave out of the corner of his eyes.

He walks forward as John makes his way and again he can hear more of the honking. Once again he'll ice over the ground.]

Best get off the ground.

[Because once again it's totally covered in ice. One of the geese breathes a fireball directly at it and manages to get free.]

Damn.

[ She's off the ground before Shouto can spread his ice, kind of hanging back with him so John can be the sacrificial windy boy.

But when one of the geese escapes she heaves a sigh. ]

God. What did I bring you two for? [ with that sweet comment she'll drift over to the escaped goose,

because she wasn't 100% taking this specific goose seriously,

fucking bites the shit out of her fingers.

immediately there is a lot of shrieking from both girl and goose. ]

[...yeah unfortunately John's response is to kind of be an asshole and start laughing since maybe Vriska deserved that for being rude? He glances back at Shouto with a thumbs up.]

For the most part the icing method's working really well! [With that he's swooping down to use the wind and break off a few pieces of the ice, irritated honking from the geese as John picks up two of them with ice still attached to their feet and shoves them in his sylladex. Eight. The goose that Vriska has is nine and he approaches while she continues shrieking and flailing, sneaking up before grabbing the goose's body and immediately shoving it in his sylladex as it snaps at his fingers, too.]

You okay? [Because even as an asshole, he's a little concerned about her.] We've got nine out of twelve now.

[Shouto's first instinct is grabbing one of the canisters of disinfectant on his waist and gesturing for Vriska's hand.]

We should disinfect it and wrap it up.

Three more geese and we'll be done.

[ wehhhhehehehhhhh. it's a very sulky and pissed off vriska with gross scratched up fingers who offers her hand to shouto once he gestures her over.

John gets a nasty glare, and since Shouto is holding one of her hands, he'll definitely see the way she moves the other.

a breeze blows past them, not terribly strong or out of place, but enough to apparently knock a few spiders loose from the tree above. three of them fall directly on John's head. ]

Vriska, what the fuck! [His hands immediately fly up and he swats at the spiders. Stupid luck stats! Stupid spider trolls!! Still, once he shakes off the spiders and looks ridiculous doing so, he faces the two of them again.]

Three more geese. Shouto, is her hand good to go? [Mostly because their method of icing things down and tackling the distracted geese has been working and that cannot be a thing if Shouto's occupied. Granted, there's a semi-grateful look as well.]

[He sprays Vriska's injuries down and wraps it up in a strip of cloth.]

The wounds don't look that deep. But I'm not a medical professional.

Okay. Do you hear more honking?

[ she cackles delightedly at John's misfortune, instantly in a better mood. once shouto's done with her fingers, she admires his handiwork with a smile while she wiggles them. ]

Works for me! I managed to walk around with one of my arms ripped off for a while once, so it's fine. This is wigglers' stuff! Seriously though, thank you.

[ vriska, what the fuck. ]

Come on, let's go! The sooner a goose attacks John the sooner we can get out of here. In fact, I'll even make the weasels go first since I'm so nice.

[Save Shouto from these morons. Either way, John listens to their surroundings and tries to blatantly ignore Vriska (why did he ever like her?????) before he stops and points to their right.]

That way. Send the weasels and ice that way, I can hear a whole bunch of them. [As they get closer and closer, they will, in fact, hear a whole symphony of squawking.] Same tactic? Distraction weasels and ice blocks?

Please don't ever tell Midoriya you ran around without limbs. He'll get ideas.

[Midoriya's body is made of glass bones and paper skin. He's getting better about managing his limbs, but Shouto still feels ll that stress of being Midoriya's friend.]

Vriska just AGGRESSIVELY ROLLS HER EYES (not that you can tell) and again tosses the dice. The weasels will appear the same as before, twitching their merry way over towards the geese, whose honks ascend to shrieks.

Shouto, on the other hand, will get a slightly wide-eyed look. ]

[ quietly she decides to totally tell izuku about the time her arm got ripped off. ]

Let's maybe keep him alive? [A pointed look. But he floats up into the air, hovering a bit as he makes his way toward the geese.]

Looks like there's four of them. That's plenty for what we need. Be ready in case they pull that fireball trick again though.

Determination, probably.

[Shouto ices over the ground and puffs out a little breath of iced air, making a little flame in his left hand to warm himself up.]

No John, I love watching my friends get killed for stupid reasons!

[ at once bland and somehow deeply acidic.

anyway. the weasels get stuck in the ice along with the geese, so a few are getting their heads gnawed on. probably a good time to snatch the geese up! ]

[He doesn't say anything, though there's a look that says "not now, not here" before he swoops in and plucks up all four geese. Honk honk whatever. He lands on the ice, trying to stay out of range of the weasels.]

That's it. That's twelve of them. Or thirteen, actually. Maybe we'll get an extra reward? Unless Mr. F wants us to follow the quest exactly.

[He really doesn't know what's up between John and Vriska, but it sounds like a sore spot.]

Put one back. Somebody might need it when they're doing their quest. I don't know how many of the geese are out here.

[ not caring how obvious it is at this point, really, vriska just tiredly flips John off and lets him do his thing.

her dice go back in her pocket. the weasels will peter out on their own, so as far as she's concerned they're done here. ]

I agree with Shouto. Let's finish the quest to the letter and leave the rest. I don't want to see someone else fail because there's not enough of these nasty fuckers around.
