There are a few open spaces in the woods, I think... let's aim for that?
I haven't really seen many animals in the town, except when we bring them there ourselves.
no subject
Quite true. Very well, then let us depart.
[God Nanjo can't you use words like a normal person. It doesn't take long for him to speak again. After all, if it is monstrous goose, they'll probably be able to hear it. If it's normal geese they...wouldn't care about them talking. Either way, he didn't seem to really mind having to fight.]
How have you been?
[Considering Mitsuru is gone...]
no subject
Of course Nanjo would notice that she's gone, and they had talked about how she was his senpai...
Minato's quiet for a moment, both hands shoved into his pockets as they begin to properly make their way into the woods, the trees filtering out the strange, colorless sunlight.]
... I'm okay.
[As okay as he can be, anyway, all things considered. He's worried about her, and wants her to be okay, and yet...
Most of all, he feels guilty that he never brought himself to properly say goodbye before it was too late. He was a bit too arrogant about the amount of time they'd have together, huh...?]
You knew Mitsuru-senpai too, right? Are you okay?
no subject
That's good.
[If he could read Minato's thoughts, he'd probably assure the other that he'd say the same thing.]
I did yes. Our two groups worked together. In my time, she still quite young, so meeting her here is a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I'm grateful it happened.
[Translation: he's a bit shaken, but he's okay, as much as he can be.]
I do hope you don't mind that in her absence, I will do my best to take over her duties.
no subject
He's distracted, though, by that statement. A tilt of his head.]
Her duties...? Do you mean with the town meetings?
no subject
Yes, that's correct. [Kei you could just say 'I'll take over what she started' instead of saying 'her duties' but being who he was, he never made things simple.] Even if it's not in the same district, the idea in itself was rather important. Better for it to be taken care of than leaving it unattended.
no subject
If there's anything I can do to help at any point with that, please let me know, Nanjo-san. I think it's my responsibility to make sure that Mitsuru-senpai's work continues, too.
no subject
Then we can work together in doing a bit of paperwork...I believe a few things have already been started, however I'd like to keep a list of everyone here, especially with situations like this one...we might not know who is missing or not, but others might.
[And nearby, they might start to hear the sound of geese honking.]
no subject
Keith-san already is starting a list of people who are going home, and Midoriya-kun is keeping other lists of the hexcodes of people here.
That should help--
[Oh.]
Ah. Nanjo-san, there. [GEESE.]
no subject
[HONK.]
...ah yes. I see. Well, this will be a good opportunity to test it.
[There's blue energy under his feet. You know what this means.
StandsKei calls out the Persona without much change in his emotion.]Persona.
[The creature appears behind him, putting his hands in his robes before revealing small needle-like pins in between his fingers. At Nanjo's silent command, it throws one in the direction of the goose. The needle connects with the duck's side, barely scratching it but surprising the fowl before it mercifully falls to the ground, asleep.]
...that's one.
[He sounds a bit surprised it worked correctly the first time. Or maybe it was the fact it looked...light blue?]
There should be others nearby, or at least they seemed to come in gaggles when I saw them in Europe. I admit I've never seen some with this foliage before...
[They should also pick it up.]
no subject
He...pokes it.
(What do you expect, he's a city boy.)
And then he shakes his head.]
Looks like it's out... nice job, Nanjo-san.
[He picks it up, and... huffs out a bit.]
You're...right about how heavy it is, though...
[Haaaa...!]
no subject
Granted he's not too surprised at the reaction, he'd seen some of his classmates do the same thing and this was in a place where it was supposed to be the WORLD'S BRIGHTEST MINDS (except you know, it's college, so).]
If it wakes up we'll have to do it again, bit ti should last for a bit, if it's anything like the crabs.
[And he nods..he can't blame him for not believing him, without seeing geese first, one would assume they were, not so bad.]
Even trying to carrying ten chickens would be hard, I assume. Shall we use your Persona or mine?
no subject
For now, though? Uh. Minato glances over at Nanjo briefly, and breathes out a soft sigh. It's not like he can keep hiding this, even if he'd rather not bring it up at all. Eventually, it's going to come up--and he respects Nanjo enough to know that it shouldn't come up as a shock.]
I can, but... I have to warn you about the summoning method first. It's not the same as yours for us.
no subject
[Now that is interesting. He doesn't mean to make it sound like he's overly curious (because that would be impolite and disrespectful) but even Kei Nanjo can't hide it. Still, he's grown fond of Minato enough to add;]
It's not...painful for you, is it? I can do try do this on my own otherwise.
[It's as much caring as he can show.]
no subject
[Nanjo doesn't have to worry on that count.]
I think we've come to terms with ourselves enough to be able to summon our Personas without any pain. [They're not Strega, or any of those unfortunate examples.]
It just... looks alarming, that's all. I wanted to explain before i did anything that might worry you.
[Which is why he follows that up by pulling out his Evoker from beneath his blazer.]
no subject
[He replies perhaps a little too fast. The last thing he wants would be for Minato to be stuck in a situation like Toro where the persona took over. However, he can't help but look visibly surprised once the Evoker comes out - that thing looks like a gun.
Did anything that might worry you.... And there's this strange feeling from it that reminds him almost of...hmmm. He quickly reverts back to a stoic personality.]
I trust you.
no subject
[Minato doesn't have another word to say, then; there's no reason to drag it out. Instead, he flips the Evoker up to his temple, and in the same smooth motion, he pulls the trigger.
And above him hovers orpheus, as simple as that, even as Minato lowers the Evoker again.]
That's... how I summon my Personas.
no subject
He coughs a few times.]
Ahh...excuse me.
[Something about this is just...well he doesn't want to think heartbreaking but...]
Do you mind if I take a look at the gun?
[It does look like a gun.]
no subject
Inspect it as you like, Nanjo; he has no reason to hide it, or try to keep it from him.
He just knows that somehow... he needs to learn how to summon his Persona without it--eventually.]
no subject
I see...so they found a way to instill fear to the user for each summon. [He looked back to him.] That's how it happened to all of us - the notion that we'd be killed without a way to fight back is what awakened our Personas the first time...well that and Philemon bestowing them to us. I wonder if...
[He stops when his hands go over the bluish area, and the energy that it emits.]
...this is...how odd.
[Sorry Minato, he may be slightly geeking out in his own way here. Well if one could be both interested and slightly disgusted at what the Kirijo group had done.]
Do you mind if I...try it?
no subject
A mask to face the hardships of the world with, Igor had said, after all.
Quietly, he just shakes his head.]
I don't mind. Go ahead.
[Pull the trigger, Nanjo-- no I'm joking.
But also like. Yeah, it's not as easy as he makes it look.]
no subject
[Because that's what you say when you're about to point a gun at your head. Before catching himself, Kei realizes he's already sweating at the very idea. He knows it's not real bullets and yet there's something primal about the fear that builds up in mind. His mind flashes back to the hospital and when they were attached by the zombies. Images fill his mind and then he--
--He pulls the trigger. His head snaps to the side briefly, as the effect is near identical to his normal summoning, but it seems more violent as the energy rises from his side rather to the ground, like a splatter of blood. Who appears on the other hand, however, was not who Kei had planned. But images of those memories would trigger an unconscious shift, and looking back, he honestly should have seen it coming.
It wasn't a Persona that Minato had seen before.]
Young Master! Is something wrong?
[Kei wordlessly shakes his head, even as he gives the summoning item back to Minato, hands slightly trembling.]
I'm fine...
[If this is aimed at Minato or the Persona, one can only wonder. It stays there briefly before finally disappearing. The expression on Kei's face is bittersweet and a few seconds linger on before he speaks again.]
To think you must do this each time. There's a difference between both ways that I can't quite explain. Maybe I could try teaching you how to it like I do.
no subject
But honestly, Minato's far beyond reacting to weird Personas at this point; he just patiently waits, watching Nanjo summon and the Persona's appearance, quietly.
He doesn't say anything as he takes the Evoker back, holstering it again, and:]
... If I can learn how, I'd...really like that. [Obviously, he doesn't like shooting himself in the head.] This was the only way I knew it was even possible, until this place.
no subject
[And if he knows Mitsuru's promises, Kei's are also absolute. He WILL find a way, or die trying. Which, considering this world and the subject matter...somewhat fitting.]
With that said, let us continue the task at hand.
no subject
But.
He does, even so, and Minato blinks slowly--and then sighs, head dipping.]
... Thank you. I... really do appreciate it. I'll do my best to learn.
