WHAT: Vriska's been a statue for a month. She's going to wake up confused and deeply unhappy. Please hit me up at heartfuls for plotting if you'd like to plan a specific thread, i am 100% open to anything!!

[ She wakes up.

... first of all. She wakes up, when she doesn't need to sleep and doesn't remember trying to go to sleep. With no real clear idea of why or how or what the fuck, she just kind of abruptly comes back to herself while standing on her feet.

She is so baffled by this state of affairs that it takes her a second to notice the ... rest. The rest, which is: 1) like two blankets wrapped around her, 2) a sign hanging off her neck??, and 3) her hair feels DISGUSTING, why IS that.

Never once in her life and death has Vriska been okay with losing control. And the dawning realization that some Really Weird Shit Must Have Happened without her even knowing does not exactly make her happy. Her expression undergoes an amazing transformation from blank confusion to apoplectic rage in record time. ]

.... Minato? MINATO? [ shrill. very shrill. and loud. she at least recognizes that she's outside their hive when she looks up and boy he better have some kinda answers. ]


[ OPEN to all ]

[ The answers are not satisfying, regardless of what they actually are.

Whenever her talk with Minato ends she'll end up going towards the center of town because it's the best place she can think of to yell at the largest possible number of people all at once. ]

[...Screaming. Shrill, shrill screaming, and it's awfully early in the morning, and Minato was sleeping in his blanket pile and bolts upright pretty damn quickly at hearing his name getting screamed out like that.

He blearily rubs an eye, stumbling his way out of his room to come face-to-face with...a faceful of Vriska?

... He blinks. And again. She's been a statue for nearly a month, and he was starting to doubt that they'd ever manage to fix her, no matter how they tried, and now here she is, alive--

He ignores the screeching to instead step forward, expression still a little shocked, and reaches out to rest both hands lightly on her shoulders.

... She really is back.]

[Wow so that shrieking is familiar!

He's. Out. And about. And wandering in the way a whimsical fuck usually does, floating along and making the most of his time. He hears Vriska shrieking though and at first he thinks maybe he's imagining it. On the other hand, he rounds a corner and finds her storming through town, anger radiating off of her in waves.

He shouldn't approach...but there's a sick sense of relief before he can even think it through.]

[ honestly, the fact that he's reached out to touch her shocks her enough that she shuts up for a second, blinking at him kind of wide eyed.

but she recovers quickly, her expression twisting into something irritated and also a little... worried, maybe? upset. ]

What does that even mean? What am I okay from? Why the fuck am I standing here covered in blankets and-- is this a sign?

[ tugs at the thing around her neck. ]

[ apparently briefly forgetting that she's decided she hates him, she'll dart over to him with concern and unhappiness writ large across her face, grabbing one of his arms without thinking. ]

[ once again Vriska just kind of stares at him blankly for a moment, mostly because that's a lot to process.

her mouth opens, shuts, then twists as she tries again. ]

[ flat. her eyes even lid halfway. ]

A fucking statue. I mean, I don't know what I expected, to be honest, but I guess that's suitably bizarre? God. And-- a month? I...

[ briefly she is lost for words. ]

[ it wouldn't be correct to say she lights up with a smile or anything, but quite a bit of the anger leaves her and she'll zip right over to him. it seems like she may even do something -- reach out, in some way? -- but in the end she keeps her hands to herself. ]

[There's a sense of panicked unsureness as she zips over. He doesn't really know what to do if she hugs him. So he's relieved when she stops short.

She cocks a brow at him, a little uncertain herself. ]

Missing... I mean, yeah. I guess so. Uh, one of the last things I remember is the bonfire that kid and I set up? A couple days after that, then it's all just a big blank until a few hours ago.

You missed a lot of bullshit by being a statue. The furniture in our houses started screaming at us about things they shouldn't have known about. Whatever we were the most insecure about it started screaming about that.

Then our shadows were trying to murder us for a week. Some of them succeeded.

[ Truth be told, some of the anger is fabricated. Well, maybe more than some of it. It's better to show anger, she thinks, than the real fear she feels over having control wrested from her so easily. She hasn't been an active combatant or participant in the narrative for so long she's almost forgotten what it's like to try and take charge, to be proactive. But to just so abruptly and so completely be completely frozen like that, with no choice in the matter at all...

It really freaks her out, little as she wants to think about it.

Lost in her brooding thoughts, she almost doesn't see him before she slams into him. Almost, so an unfortunate collision is avoided. ]

[ it probably helps that dave always wears his god tier clothes, pretty much. which means he is vibrantly red in a town that only has patches of color here or there.

for all he's (supposedly) stoic there is a moment of very real surprise as he registers who just said his name and who is right in front of him. it's...been a while? for obvious reasons. ]

Holy shit, you're back. What's up? [ she doesn't look any worse for the wear stone-wise, at least. but then elizabeth had been fine as well...in the end, anyway ]

[ So after hearing from Minato that she, in fact, is not the only person who got turned into a statue for some fucking reason, Vriska sets out with a purpose. (Which is nice, because it keeps her distracted from how freaked out she feels by all of it.)

... granted, however, that she has no idea where to find Elizabeth, and her purposeful stride will turn a bit aimless as she just ... kinda ... looks around, and maybe asks people she runs into if they know Elizabeth and where she might be.

Save her from her wandering, Liz. When Vriska does eventually find her, she'll perk up and call out. ]

Hey! You're Elizabeth, right?

[ Vriska folds her arms over her chest, her expression shifting into something wry. She certainly appreciates Shouto's candor, that's for sure. ]

Honestly, I have heard much stranger things. But that still sucks. Did people actually die? [ A look of vague, like, concern? ] I don't know what the rules are around here when it comes to death. Are they fucking toast, or what?

[Holding up his hands in defense here! Excuse me!!]

I had nothing to do with this this time! [...] Do you...I mean. Do you remember anything about the last month at all? [Hold on if she's up already...] Did you talk to Minato yet?

[ That's honestly fair considering she did the same thing... This is definitely inspiring her to make a directory of sorts, since it's very hard to find someone, and the system of naming people on the forums isn't useful! But. Regardless. She's out and about to go find some new clothes and hopefully a small sewing kit. If she can fix up the clothes she'd brought with her, that would be nice, since the style provided is... Not really her thing.

She perks up when she hears her name and turns, but her face immediately lights up with a smile. ]

Oh! Vriska— [ Vriska may not be sure, but Elizabeth certainly is. Those horns especially are quite memorable. ] I'm glad to see that you're...

[ She trails off, trying to think of a word, but her sunny smile twists to a bit wry as she shrugs. ]

[ His honest and open surprise wrings a smile out of Vriska she didn't know she had in her. It's quiet and wry, but a smile flickers across her face nonetheless; she is genuinely happy to see him.

She quickly quashes the brief moment of positive sentiment to wrap her arms around herself instead and offer a dry, somewhat sardonic smile. ]

Oh, you know, the usual. Waking up in the middle of the street covered in blankets and bird shit and having no fucking clue what's going on. Pretty much a totally average and normal day, you know?

but then her expression softens into something that isn't quite a smile, but that makes it clear the statement was a joke. ]

Anyway, no. Not even a little bit. One second I was just kind of walking around like normal and the next I'm waking up from bizarro statue stasis to find an entire goddamn month has passed. But yeah, I did talk to Minato. He was the first person I saw when I woke up or whatever you want to call it.

[ a beat. ]

You guys are fucking nerds, by the way.

[ a bit dryly, but she can't entirely hide the fact that she's a little bit touched the boys were looking out for her. ]

We didn't want you to like, break. [ and minato wanted her warm. it's kind of weird to be speaking to her after a month or so and it occurs to him that she might not know about terezi yet.

Vriska is arrested for a moment, clear surprise flashing across her features before she can wipe them blank again. There's just ... something very surreal about approaching someone and having them be visibly happy to see her. How ... bizarre.

Unable to help herself, she actually smiles in return, though it's crooked and somewhat exasperated. ]

Thanks. Given what Minato told me, I should be saying the same thing to you, right?

[ he could maybe just avoid the topic and let someone else do it. that's an option. it'd be an option he obviously took if she found out from anyone else later though, and john at least had brought it up with dave pretty immediately after he got back from the whole swallowed alive thing. somehow updating vriska on his own personal status just doesn't seem important because dave rarely lets people know if he had trouble or if he's having trouble. ]
