WHAT: Vriska's been a statue for a month. She's going to wake up confused and deeply unhappy. Please hit me up at heartfuls for plotting if you'd like to plan a specific thread, i am 100% open to anything!!

[ She wakes up.

... first of all. She wakes up, when she doesn't need to sleep and doesn't remember trying to go to sleep. With no real clear idea of why or how or what the fuck, she just kind of abruptly comes back to herself while standing on her feet.

She is so baffled by this state of affairs that it takes her a second to notice the ... rest. The rest, which is: 1) like two blankets wrapped around her, 2) a sign hanging off her neck??, and 3) her hair feels DISGUSTING, why IS that.

Never once in her life and death has Vriska been okay with losing control. And the dawning realization that some Really Weird Shit Must Have Happened without her even knowing does not exactly make her happy. Her expression undergoes an amazing transformation from blank confusion to apoplectic rage in record time. ]

.... Minato? MINATO? [ shrill. very shrill. and loud. she at least recognizes that she's outside their hive when she looks up and boy he better have some kinda answers. ]


[ OPEN to all ]

[ The answers are not satisfying, regardless of what they actually are.

Whenever her talk with Minato ends she'll end up going towards the center of town because it's the best place she can think of to yell at the largest possible number of people all at once. ]

[ His honest and open surprise wrings a smile out of Vriska she didn't know she had in her. It's quiet and wry, but a smile flickers across her face nonetheless; she is genuinely happy to see him.

She quickly quashes the brief moment of positive sentiment to wrap her arms around herself instead and offer a dry, somewhat sardonic smile. ]

Oh, you know, the usual. Waking up in the middle of the street covered in blankets and bird shit and having no fucking clue what's going on. Pretty much a totally average and normal day, you know?

We didn't want you to like, break. [ and minato wanted her warm. it's kind of weird to be speaking to her after a month or so and it occurs to him that she might not know about terezi yet.

Anyway, yeah, at least somewhat. I already talked to Minato. From what I understand I missed out on some pretty wild shit.

[ he could maybe just avoid the topic and let someone else do it. that's an option. it'd be an option he obviously took if she found out from anyone else later though, and john at least had brought it up with dave pretty immediately after he got back from the whole swallowed alive thing. somehow updating vriska on his own personal status just doesn't seem important because dave rarely lets people know if he had trouble or if he's having trouble. ]

Pyrope ain't around anymore. [ beating around the bush on this one doesn't feel right. so. ]

[ Dave was probably at least a little prepared for this, the way her face blanks out. ]

... Terezi? What-- what are you talking about?

[ there's a soft horror in her voice. ]

A few people have just disappeared, their handles stricken out. She's one of 'em.

[ he doesn't think it's death, beyond the fact all three of them are dead. ]

She was gone by the time the shadow bullshit was done. I'm not sure exactly when; we checked in but not daily and I...missed a few days.

[ horrifyingly for probably both of them, tears flood her eyes.

Vriska bows her head, clapping both hands over her mouth, but there's nothing for it. her tears stream freely, sliding over and between her fingers, down her skin, and she shivers and shuts her eyes. ]

That's not fair-- [ her voice twists high and quiet and she stops trying to speak, sobbing silently into her hands. ]

[ it's extremely horrifying, what does he do with this. ]

It's not. [ it isn't, and he shifts awkwardly. ] It was...its just not. At all.

[ haha both of them get to violently hate this situation!!! because vriska just makes a sound like a wounded animal and sinks down into a crouch, still sobbing. ]

I finally got my fucking sister back and--

[ it's enraged and heartbroken and any other words are swallowed again by her sobbing. this is the worst. if only she could die a third time and be spared dave strider, of all people, having to see this. ]

[ well.

there's no one dave misses more than his sister. it is a desperate hole in his chest he'd never fucking admit to rose existed.

so after a pause he crouches down and sort of...guesses he is initiating at least half a hug what the fuck is he supposed to do here ]

[ yeah, so.

vriska's just going to lean into his stupid awful half hug and wail into his shoulder. it hurts so much to immediately lose someone she thought she'd never get back in the first place. she's crying because of terezi, because of meenah, because of john, because of every friend she's ever lost. she's crying because she's a sad, lonely kid who's so tired of being hurt.

it takes her a long time to calm down. ]

[ god, dave isn't built for this.

but okay. he'll...turn it into a whole hug. he can do this, maybe? she doesn't seem to expect him to say words so he can do this. ]

[ well, as it turns out, he's not actively shoving her off and walking away from her, and that's really enough?

god, that is such a low fucking bar.

but it's enough, and that hurts, too.

she will eventually quiet, but rather than say anything she just kind of breathes into his shoulder and tries to deal with a world where dave fucking strider is the person that actually stuck by her when she needed someone. ]

Fuck you, [ she gurgles, an awful wet whisper. ] Where were you the last, like, eternity?

[ finally, mercifully, she pulls away from him, scrubbing at her face. She's all blue, which is from crying or embarrassment or both. ]
