MOSTLY OPEN [action & network]
WHO: Vriska Serket and YOU, plus some closed prompts.
WHERE: All over, really.
WHEN: May 2nd for the prompts in the body of the post, but I'll probably also put up closed headers for the rest of May and use this as a catch-all log as well.
WHAT: Vriska's been a statue for a month. She's going to wake up confused and deeply unhappy. Please hit me up at
heartfuls for plotting if you'd like to plan a specific thread, i am 100% open to anything!!
WARNINGS: A foul mouth and an upset teenage disaster with god powers. Anything can happen if you just believe??
[ CLOSED to Minato ]
[ She wakes up.
... first of all. She wakes up, when she doesn't need to sleep and doesn't remember trying to go to sleep. With no real clear idea of why or how or what the fuck, she just kind of abruptly comes back to herself while standing on her feet.
She is so baffled by this state of affairs that it takes her a second to notice the ... rest. The rest, which is: 1) like two blankets wrapped around her, 2) a sign hanging off her neck??, and 3) her hair feels DISGUSTING, why IS that.
Never once in her life and death has Vriska been okay with losing control. And the dawning realization that some Really Weird Shit Must Have Happened without her even knowing does not exactly make her happy. Her expression undergoes an amazing transformation from blank confusion to apoplectic rage in record time. ]
.... Minato? MINATO? [ shrill. very shrill. and loud. she at least recognizes that she's outside their hive when she looks up and boy he better have some kinda answers. ]
[ OPEN to all ]
[ The answers are not satisfying, regardless of what they actually are.
Whenever her talk with Minato ends she'll end up going towards the center of town because it's the best place she can think of to yell at the largest possible number of people all at once. ]
WHAT the FUCK is WRONG with this FUCKING TOWN? I HATE THIS FUCKING TOWN! WHAT THE FUCK!
[ YOU. yes you. god, why did you walk past her range of vision, that was a mistake. ]
EXPLAIN.
[ ... explain what. she doesn't specify, instead just pointing furiously at your face, so, like, take that as you will? ]
[ NETWORK open to all, #005682 ]
I HATE THIS ST8PID AWFUL TRASH HEAP PI8CE OF SHIT 8ULLSHIT TOWN!!!!!!!!

vriska serket is never done yelling. ]

She's not ... happy, since she never seems to be, but she's not exuding the same apathy she's tended to since the start. She'll wave as she walks up. ]
Show me the jungle gym. When I help you break it down, I'll explain how I'm doing it.
no subject
In a few seconds there's a huge ice jungle gym taking up most of the area around the well. Along with a very impressive looking slide, a good 10 feet off the ground- there's no ladder to get up to it, but Vriska can fly if she'd really like to try it out.]
Told you.
no subject
[ Man. He's as good as his word. Vriska's expression lights up with a childlike excitement and she takes to the air without thinking, flitting this way and that as she examines it from all angles. ]
This is awesome!
[ If someone just built this, eh, it wouldn't really be impressive. But that he made it in the space of a few breaths with his powers alone makes it pretty fucking cool to her. She'll end up sitting atop it, legs swinging, not seeming to mind the cold. ]
Badass. Pretty cool, Shouto. You wanna come up, or should I just break it down for you?
no subject
Actually... it sounds nice to be up there. He didn't get to enjoy it that way last time he made it.]
I'll come up.
[And he just makes himself a pillar of ice and joins him at the top of the slide.]
no subject
Showoff.
[ It feels weird, to smile and laugh. Like it's been a thousand years since she last did either of those things. ]
Can you just -- do whatever you can think of, basically?
no subject
Just about. I usually just make big ice walls. It's more practical when we're in the field. Ice walls and fire blasts are usually what I default to.
no subject
Practical. [ she says it with a smile without looking at him. ] Sounds like you. Besides, sometimes getting fancy just gives your opponent openings.
[ she'd know. ]
It's cool, though. That if you are feeling creative, you can just ... make something. Haha, I'd probably make a bunch of dumb shit all the time.
no subject
I don't have time for openings in a fight. ... I still have to work on my hand to hand, I think.
[It's still pretty bad, but he much prefers his long ranged attacks.]
This is about as creative as I've ever been with it. I didn't get a lot of time to experiment before I was trained.
Anyway, what about your powers?
no subject
[ Vriska hops off, hanging in midair once she does. She'll turn to face him, smiling a little bit. ]
You should keep doing it. The creative stuff, I mean.
[ She moves back in the air. And there's -- a blurring around her, fast as a blink, and suddenly she's wearing something completely different, wings and all, though her hair and eyes remain the same as before, her hood down. ]
I'm a Thief of Light. Get off that thing and I'll show you what it means.
no subject
Well, he's already at the top of the slide, he might as well use it. (It's more fun than he was expecting.)]
Alright, do your thing?
no subject
She'll flap a hand at him, trying to get him to back away to her satisfaction. Once he does she'll face the jungle gym. What happens isn't flashy. Not nearly enough to seemingly merit what results, anyway. She lifts a hand by the side of her face, palm out, fingers fanned beside her eye.
There's a crack like a gunshot as the ice snaps in several places simultaneously. Incidentally, where they were just sitting. Lucky they got away in time, huh? Or perhaps unlucky... it's hard to say. Very, very unlucky for the jungle gym, anyway, which in a disastrous cascade shatters into a thousand pieces. Fortunately, most pieces seem to fall right back into the well, leaving only a few chunks and shards scattered on the ground around the well.
It all happens quite quickly, and Vriska will offer a thoughtful hum as she lowers herself to the ground. ]
Sloppy. I'm out of practice.
no subject
He looks confused as the ice seems to break apart. He knows he made it sturdy enough to last for a few hours. But he supposes it is actually clean now, so that's good. What didn't manage to fall in the well will melt quickly enough.]
What did you do?
no subject
I stole your luck! Or, to be totally accurate, I stole the luck from your jungle gym. That's my power! Well, one of my powers. But it's the best one. I can steal luck from anyone or anything and keep it as my own. I can do a lot more than that. [ jerks a thumb at the direction of the well. ] I haven't really used these powers in a long time, though.
no subject
[He looks over at the well as she points at it.]
What else can you do? Can you give it away?
no subject
A lot! Though I can't give it to someone else, no. That's because of my class! A thief takes for herself. But, I could do things to benefit my allies more indirectly, like stealing luck from an enemy or making sure an attack misses. Mostly I can use it to make myself extremely powerful, almost absurdly so.
[ ... ]
A long time ago I told myself I'd use that power to protect my friends, but it was pretty much bullshit. Ah well.
no subject
So you're a... thief of luck? It sounds useful. Especially in high stress situations.
[Ah.. Something has happened.]
Do you think it's impossible?
no subject
[ A slight smile, something a little crooked and sad about it. ]
On the other hand, it's not a power well-suited to the protection of others, since it's designed almost exclusively to make me more powerful. I tried just once to use that power to protect my friends, and it really did not work out. It's best used offensively.
no subject
... At least you know about it now.
no subject
That is a pretty charitable way of putting it, but yeah, something like that.
[ Quiet for a second, she looks away again, at the well. ]
... there was a powerful demon chasing us. Far more powerful than any of us could take on and live. In fact, even all of us put together were not a match for Jack! So we fled. I came up with this big plan to take him down once and for all... to be the hero, you know?
[ Folding her arms tightly over her chest, she stares down at her feet, her expression so faintly sad. ]
But a friend of mine with precognitive abilities realized that my plan had a major flaw. The demon would have outsmarted me, and used my trail to track down my friends and kill them. To prevent that from happening, she killed me. That's why I'm a ghost. I was so invested in how great and cool I was and how badly I wanted to be a hero that I refused to see reason, and basically forced her hand.
[ ... ]
That is why I asked you to help me protect everyone. The truth is, I am terrified I would make another huge mistake, and it would cost lives. So it's for the best if the safety of others is out of my hands entirely.
no subject
Shouto's quiet as he considers all of this new information. It takes a few minutes before he speaks up again. ]
I'll protect everyone as well as I can. I don't know if I'm the best person to do it, but I'll try.
