[ OPEN ] Chroma’s First Annual “Make Sierra Cry” Competition
WHO: sierra mikain and you! she is a yellow.
WHERE: the well-ish.
WHEN: early april!
WHAT: sierra is holding a contest to make her cry for the sake of the quest. there is an exciting reward to bring back a small item from home, for incentive!
WARNINGS: she may also fulfill the near-death experience quest for your character, if anyone steps on a landmine.
MAKE ME CRY
(quest 55, but potentially quest 54 if you’re unlucky)
[ throughout the month, to inject a little stimulation in her life, sierra can be found sitting by the well with as bored a look as any on her face. there’s a makeshift sign posted in the ground next to her, and anyone who approaches to ask her what she’s doing is going to get a yawn and a gesture to the instructions very clearly laid out. ]
Make Sierra Mikain,
Founder of the Village of the Blue Moon,
Cry
Reward: A magical ring with which to retrieve one small object of your choosing from your home world.
[ sierra twirls another handmade object in her hand, another small sign with a number written on it—apparently, you’ll be graded from zero to five on your attempt. she yawns again, covering her mouth with the 0 side. ]
Well? Shall we try?

Was two too many, or too few? Do you want "long", or "long, long, long"? [ Maybe even "long, long, long, long"?
She's signing a one-way ticket to some sort of punishment, and she's well aware of it. ]
1/3
that was nice, but drawing out the joke was an amateur mistake. sierra’s temper is much too easy to ignite, and calling her out on her age is like throwing a lit match on an oil spill. ]
2/3
CRACK!
thunder bursts from vaguely “above” somewhere like, well, a bolt of lightning. if it hits magilou, that’s no concern of sierra’s. ]
3/3
…neither, preferably.
1/2 rest in pieces magilou
What is surprising is her thunder and lightning. It's actually rather impressive that she can toss out an attack like that without even blinking. And that surprise ends up catching Magilou in its clutches, the electricity hitting her where she stands. She doesn't even get a strangled noise of shock out before it hits.
Maybe she will actually die here. This is the end of the magnificent Magilou, isn't it? The witch's tale ends here with nary a moment of reprieve!
She slides down to the ground and hits the grass with an unceremonious thunk. ]
2/2
Hey, what's the big idea? [ It's kind of muffled by the ground, and the singes of noise the lightning created. ] No need to get so worked up!
we’ll miss her
Oops.
[ sierra crouches. ]
I’m afraid I can’t pull that off again without a [ yaaaawn ] nap, so it seems I’ll have to settle for a four.

You could have killed me! An innocent bystander! This is a witch trial!
[ Geez, whenever she prods at anyone else she knows, all she gets in return is a shove or a return jab of some kind, not a literal lightning bolt... "Tread carefully" is the lesson here, not that she'll take it to heart. Off the table: jokes about her age. Or Magilou will get even closer to a literal death, not a close one. ]
I've even set up a betting pool for you, and this is the kind of shoddy treatment I get! A one-way ticket to death instead of tears of gratitude.

You didn’t die, so isn’t it fine? Consider it a lesson learned.
[ don’t call sierra old. it never goes well! similarly, don’t call her too young either—even the most youthful maiden hates to be patronized. to be safe, it’s best not to refer to her as anything except her name, and a title just in case. ]
But that’s a nice trick, those tears. They might work on someone else.

[ The crocodile tears have stopped now. Magilou purses her lips in mock-annoyance, and pulls herself up by the knees, eventually settling on the other side of the well from Sierra. This is what she does best: push her luck while staying just far away that whatever harm might befall her is probably more effort than it's worth.
Little does Sierra know, the tears don't really work on anyone! Which is likely easy to assume... Maybe if she's more genuine one day, but good luck. She's very well aware that it's not working on Sierra, but still: ]
Well, I'd hate to try and use them on anyone with a higher chance of crying. Moving an emotional person to tears is just no fun at all! Emotions that flow are easy to know, but emotions broken are most often unspoken.

[ that is a personal little joke for sierra’s amusement alone, but she would like to be in a room with magilou and tristan if she ever got the chance. just to watch the two of them interact could probably entertain her for centuries. ]

That's a one hundred percent Magilou original, and you've had the honor of being the first to hear it! Archer has nothing on me, but he has agreed to work with me. Maybe our combined efforts will get even the stone-faced lady Sierra to shed a tear.
