WHERE: the well-ish.
WHEN: early april!

MAKE ME CRY
(quest 55, but potentially quest 54 if you’re unlucky)
[ throughout the month, to inject a little stimulation in her life, sierra can be found sitting by the well with as bored a look as any on her face. there’s a makeshift sign posted in the ground next to her, and anyone who approaches to ask her what she’s doing is going to get a yawn and a gesture to the instructions very clearly laid out. ]
Make Sierra Mikain,
Founder of the Village of the Blue Moon,
Cry
Reward: A magical ring with which to retrieve one small object of your choosing from your home world.
[ sierra twirls another handmade object in her hand, another small sign with a number written on it—apparently, you’ll be graded from zero to five on your attempt. she yawns again, covering her mouth with the 0 side. ]
Well? Shall we try?

About twenty minutes later he show up again, his coeurl chasing his heels, and has himself a seat on the well itself. He gets himself comfortable, a smaller block of wood in hand, and takes a knife out of his pocket.]
Any takers yet?

nyx’s return was somewhat unexpected, though perhaps she should have seen it coming with that little smirk he was wearing. the animal is unexpected, too, but not necessarily unwelcome—as long as it keeps its distance. she’s not good with pets. ]
We live in a town of cowards, it seems.
no subject
Usually something so personal requires knowing a person.
[He sets his knife to the wood, shaving off a piece with every swipe.]

[ she examines her scoreboard, idly, but there’s no way she’s going to ditch something she put so much effort into making in the first place. ]
I take it you aren’t interested? Some code of chivalry?

... Someone's feeling confident.

[ a polite smile, and she makes a little room for maribelle to join her. ]

So is that what this is? Just stroking your ego?
no subject
[ she tosses her hair over her shoulder. ]
Are the quests really any crueler than usual?

Well, well, look who the cat dragged in. [ It's Magilou. Unfortunately. ] Here I was, thinking I couldn't be more occupied being unoccupied, and I stumble upon a competition!
[ Magilou doesn't particularly care about that whole "magical ring" thing. And she doesn't really care about the prospect of making Sierra cry, either (though, she'd probably end up in the well again for her attempts?). So the only reason she's approaching Sierra this time... is to prod, and to see where this goes. She puts her hands behind her head, acting the part of a completely unconcerned maiden. ]
What are you placing the odds at? I'll start up a betting pool for you.
no subject
[ that is factually untrue, but magilou doesn’t need to know this—instead, she simply delivers this confident statement with a smile. though it may not last long in magilou’s presence, it does at least make an initial, obligatory appearance. ]
That’s a secret, though. If anyone knew, no one would even attempt it.
[ and sierra is aiming to get a quest accomplished. ]
no subject
[ Is there even any currency in this town other than Sierra's reward...?? Not that Magilou knows, or even really cares. It's the thrill of the bet that matters, right? ]
But if you're unable to cry, I'm sorry to say that makes us birds of a feather. Me, a pink, magical dove with naught but trickery up its sleeve, and you, a dove white as snow, with an iciness to match! Who knows what emotions might fly free today? Perhaps even a frown or two?
[ She's smiling back, but it's a tight smile--not due to her current company, but because of the solemn truth behind the statement about herself, given without the gravitas such an admission requires. Her voice is as light and carefree as ever. It may or may not be a bit of blithe sincerity.
Still, she doesn't leave, instead getting closer to curiously inspect Sierra's signs. They're pretty decently made; she can appreciate the showmanship. ]
no subject
Really? I’d guessed you might be the type to cry for the dramatics of it, but perhaps I misjudged you.
[ she looks at the numbers she’s laid out, and then up at magilou. ]
However, I will warn you that trying to needle a frown from me might get those tears from you after all.

However.
She's approaching soon enough, frowning heavily. ]
Why do you want people to make you sad?
no subject
[ with kisa’s wide, innocent gaze, sierra almost feels bad about the whole charade, but—she’s come this far, and a sad tiger child isn’t going to be enough to make her bail out now. ]
Are you worried for me?
no subject
I don't like it... even if they can't do it, I don't really want them to try, either.
no subject
[ such is the cruel way of this town. ]
But if anyone tries to make you cry, you let me know, won’t you? I’ll give them a good smack.

Is causing physical harm off the table?
no subject
[ that’s amusing in its own right, and what’s even more amusing than that is the boy in front of her seems to think that he’d be able to hit her. she wouldn’t have put all this information out for people to take if she thought she would truly be in any danger.
still, with a soft, mirthful breath through her nose, she tucks her hair behind her ear. ]
It isn’t off the table, but it may be an unreasonable thing to attempt.
no subject
He is, however, stupid and confident that he can kill anything as long as he survives whatever is thrown at him so... ]

...Is this showing that you're confident no one can make you cry, or simply an attempt at efficiency?
no subject
[ xie lian never seemed the type to her to make someone cry, but then, everyone has hidden depths. she smiles politely. ]
What do you think?
no subject
[which makes this kind of a conundrum. he thinks a bit more though, and after some hesitation, starts digging in his sleeve to pull out....a covered bowl.]
I do have this--if you'd like to try it.

And you founded a village- and kept it running, I assume? That's certainly impressive- and I imagine you'd have seen a great many things. YOu've certainly set a challenge.
