Open Mingle for Post Dragon Invasion Clean Up

WHEN: After the dragons leave
WHAT: Repairing buildings, dealing with dragon corpses, freaking out about the encroaching forest, dealing with injuries, etc.
WARNINGS: Dead dragons, maybe.

The dragons sure did a number on the town, didn't they?

Buildings have been burned down (or crushed), the forest has apparently decided to play at territory invasion (again) and there are dragon cadavers around the town.

And, unfortunately, these things don't magically take care of themselves.

Thankfully, as long as everyone pitches in, clean up shouldn't be too hard!

Maybe. Assuming at least a few people know what they're doing. Except, you know, apparently the trees on the edge of town grow back the next day if destroyed.

[He has eyes, so he can see that there are buildings to fix.]

The lumber. Or are you merely scavenging the woods for them?

So far, I've been scavenging them. I can't exactly use my powers right now so cutting anything is a pain.

[Doing anything is a pain, ugh.]

But there's some more over there... [She...wants to point with her hands but they're full and she can't hold the wood with her powers. So she tips her head in the direction she meant.] One of the houses was smashed, but it wasn't on fire so a lot of the wood was still good.

Your powers . . .

[He recalls the things she'd done previously. Evidently, they have their limits.

Following the cant of her head, he glances in the indicated direction before looking back at Kaoru, as well as the wood in her possession. She looks ready to drop.]

All right. You may go now.

[Her expression could best be described as: ???]

Wait. Where am I going? [To...deliver this wood? To...get more wood? But that sounds like a dismissal...but why is she being dismissed???]

[superioritis]

[ . . . Don't make him say it!]

You're delivering these to the supply depot, are you not? Go, before your strength leaves you.

[He doesn't have to. She's fluent in tsundere.

So her expression breaks out into a bright smile.]

Are you worried? [She doesn't say 'that's sweet', but it's...kind of written on her expression all the same.] I'm okay, you know. I mean, I'm not used to all this hard labour but I can manage this much.

[superioritis]

[His frown deepens. He never said he was worried, and she's wasting any good will he attempted by standing around and wagging her tongue!]

Then you had best be going. There is more than one supply depot.

Yes, your highness.

[She tried to salute and automatically tried to brace the weight in her arms with her powers.

Immediately. Two things happened. She winced because trying to use her powers just gave her a headache at the moment. And then the pile of wood in her arms lists to the side because taking an arm off destabilized its weight.

She yelps and tries to catch it but it's definitely tumbling down anyway.]

[superioritis]

[The wood drops one after another, the latest to fall bouncing off the last. Among these, one piece of wood rolls to an abrupt stop before Berkut's feet.]

What are you doing?

[Exasperation underlines his words, even as he crouches down to pick the wood up.]

If you have the strength to make unnecessary gestures, apply it to your task instead.

[...damn it. She looks embarrassed as she crouches down to pick up the rest of the wood.]

Sorry...I'm not usually this clumsy. [It's amazing how little you drop things when you're a high level psychokinetic.]

[superioritis]

[It would be crass to throw the wood he's picked up on the top of her newly formed pile, so he holds onto it for the time being.]

Deliver these immediately. [He pauses.] In fact, I shall accompany you.

[She stares at him and...she's still a little embarrassed. For someone who's normally fairly independent it's...weird to even have trouble carrying a small pile of wood.

But right now, what she feels more strongly is a warm feeling of fondness. This person...even though he didn't act like it, really was kind, wasn't he?]

Thank you. [She adjusts the pile in her arm a little so it won't fall again.] Let's go, your highness!

[superioritis]

[He doesn't offer to lessen her load: Doing so would be an insult to them both. But he does walk by her side like he said he would.]

How far is this depot?

Nothing is ever really far here. The town isn't that big. [Distances were even shorter when she could fly. But...] ...even for a place this small there sure is a lot to fix up.

[superioritis]

A town as isolated as this must sustain itself. As a matter of course, that would make the consequences of a large-scale invasion all the more pronounced.

It'd be like if Godzilla attacked a small rural village, huh...

At least the weather's getting warmer.

[He pauses.

God . . . zilla? I've never heard of such a creature.

Right...I guess that makes sense.

But before I explain that, do you know what a movie is?

[Begrudgingly, he asks. It must be his fate in this realm to always learn from others.]

It's like a play, except it's recorded so you can watch it in your own home whenever you want!

A play that is recorded? . . . This Godzilla of yours must come from one such play then, correct?

Yeah! It's a classic! Godzilla is this huge prehistoric monster that came from the sea and attacked Tokyo! Its special attack is his atomic heat beam that comes out of his mouth!

[superioritis]

[He huffs, unimpressed. (Not that he has any right to be, considering he only understood half of what she said.)]

With a name like that, I should have known. It sounds to me that you've just described a dragon.

It doesn't have wings though. But it makes up for that by being taller than a skyscraper!

[Yeah. She won't explain what that is either if not prompted.]
