i: Looking for worms

[Jim's life had become...really hectic since he found the Amulet of Daylight. So suddenly having all this free time is so strange.

So he finds things to occupy himself with. He knows he's no good at hunting...but he doesn't want to rely entirely on his roommates to get ingredients.

After some digging around in the store, he manages to find a fishing rod! Success! But now he needs to find bait.

Which is why he's digging in the dirt with a small, rusty hand shovel. Then he stops and groans.]

Still nothing... [He notices you watching and, far from being embarrassed, he just waves.] I don't suppose you know where I can find some worms?



ii: Training is important

[Just because Blinky isn't here, just beause he'll go back and nothing will have progressed doesn't mean he doesn't need to train.

In fact, Jim feels like this is the perfect time to get some training in! That way he'll have gotten extra training by the time he got back!

Though without the Hero's Forge (not that he's been able to train there for a while now) and no other places to train he's going to need to get...creative.

Which is why you may catch him trying to tie some hay and logs together to make a training dummy. it might look a bit like a naked scarecrow though.

When he thinks he's done. He's going to look at his rather lacklustre attempts and nod.]

Not bad, right?

[Yes, he's asking you. And as if on cue, the dummy leans over to one side before falling down. Or maybe its arms fall off. Either way...he has the grace to look embarrassed when it happens.]

Yep, yep, that's right~ I know where we can find one, but I wonder if people actually use it? I hope not... But we can always return it! It's the one in the well!

[ Hopefully nobody uses it as a water source!!! All those bodies inside the water for who knows how long... gross. ]

[A bucket he hopes no one is using...? He's confused but he listens without interrupting and...yeah. He can see that.]

It seems like only the water in the well has colour. And I guess...maybe the lake? But it's still frozen so who knows what's going on with that. So...I don't know about anyone else, but I've definitely been using it. [Shrug!] I just make sure to boil it first and to try not to use it right after people arrive.

[ Kano would take his chances with frozen lake water that can be slowly melted, that well water even if it has color and the lake is this weird grey. ]

If people pee in the water, does boiling it make it safe?

[ SORRY for the gross question, but it's a legitimate question and he needs to know. They'll all die without water, after all, so a safe source is always good to know. ]

...I'll be honest. That's not a question I've ever needed to know the answer to.

[Since no one pees in tap water.] I can only hope that no one is peeing in the well.

[ Ignorance is bliss... But it's still something to consider, isn't it? ]

Haha, I hope so too~ 'cause everybody starts off there, is what I'm hearing from people? It's pretty scary to open your eyes and suddenly find yourself in the cold and dark~ A scary situation like that, some people would piss themselves, wouldn't they?

...I miss indoor plumbing.

[ He'll stop talking when he realizes that he's in the same boat and will have to figure out what makes water clean, or maybe just claim ignorance and drink pee water. ]

It's this sorta backwards town, huh? Have you been here long? Maybe you know if it rains often enough, we can just collect rainwater? Do you know if pee becomes rain?

[ Everybody's peeing into their water source, how do you escape it ]

If your goal was to gross me out...then congratulations, you've succeeded.

[Said in the flattest tone ever.]

I've been here for about two months now.

[ Hehe, yes! Success!!

Kano reaches over and pats him on the shoulder. ]

Then you've survived two months on pee water. It might be gross, but it doesn't kill you— that's useful information to know, right? That it's safe enough to drink~ Thank you for your sacrifice for the betterment of society~

[ Kano laughs, and makes the zipping motion in front his lips with his fingers. Alright, alright, no more talking.

Instead, he waves his hands towards the well, miming pulling the bucket up and throwing the water all over... well, Jim, who's standing in front of him, but it would be the ground in reality to try to convince the worms to come up.

Are they still on for this plan? ]

[...okay. You know what? The gross pee water conversation aside. This guy was pretty funny. His miming made Jim laugh a little, at least.]

Are we playing charades now? [But yes. He'll start heading in the direction of the well.]

[suddenlybees]

[ We're playing charades now, and Kano grins wide when Jim laughs, seal clapping his hands in mock delight and skipping after him towards the well.

They happen upon it very quickly, and Kano's equally as quick to untie the bucket and drop it unceremoniously down towards the bottom of the well, clattering against the sides as it tumbles down. His part of the job done, he steps back.

The job of hauling up water 3460954785 meters, he will leave to Jim. ]

Oh, I see. I'm being left with all the hard labour.

[He rolls his eyes but it's good-natured. A year ago, before the Amulet and before being the Trollhunter he would probably have had trouble with this sort of thing. Now, he hardly breaks a sweat as he hauls the water up.]

I wonder if this thing could ever run out of water?
