Event Nineteen.

Thou art more scary and more perilous; As thou sit above thy towering treasure trove, Thy breath is bad and thy voice garrulous.
Welcome to Awash's Nineteenth event log, everyone! Further information on this event can be found here at the OOC post. You are welcome to make your own logs and posts for this event!

t's yet another day in which a bunch of people ended up in the bottom of the well. It's very, very cold down there, though spring is at least slowly starting to make itself known --
iii
Witch...? [ he mutters and raises an eyebrow, pausing in his trek - but even the word and the possibility of interrupting his quest for dirt to add to his hoard can't stop his instinct to be kind to ladies. On goes the winning smile, and Lupin gives her a little half-bow. ]
I wouldn't dream of leaving you out here alone, mademoiselle. Come with me.
no subject
She's used to people with the worst intentions putting on an affable demeanor, but she'll humor him for now. So take a small bow in return, and then a thrust of her left hand, the right placed against her chest like she's announcing something grand. ]
Ah, a selfless soul approaches! A new chapter begins in Magilou's Saga of Sorrows: the beautiful witch accosted, with naught but sopping wet clothes and the burdens on her back! And her savior, with a charming smile as his weapon and a muddy bucket as his armor! Will you punish this fair maiden for her existence, or pacify her with kindness?
[ Well. She's nothing if not overdramatic, so welcome to Magilou. Despite her theatrics, her eyes have a somber suspicious glint to them. ]
no subject
Don't be silly. There's not a lady alive who deserves to be punished simply for existing.
[ offering her his hand! It is also kind of muddy... ]
You just got here, right? Don't worry - I can help. I know my way around this place better than the average fellow.
no subject
Oho, how kind you are to little ol' me! What kind of maiden would I be if I rejected the sweetness of strangers?
[ Probably a more cautious one, but eh, who cares at this point. She's still a little suspicious of whatever he's planning to do with the bucket, but she's tired, she woke up in a well, and she'll take whatever excitement comes her way. She relaxes from the flourish she gave and smoothly takes his hand with a light grip like a proper lady at a ballroom gala. The mud doesn't bother her, considering she's already waterlogged from the knees down. ]
Lead the way. What kind of devious diversions awaits this lovely lady tonight?
i was on hiatus! i know it's been a while tho so feel free to drop
Nothing more devious than hot tea and some warm blankets, my friend. I may be a rogue, but I'm a good one, I assure you. [ a beat. ] Have you been wandering around long?
[ she didn't end up in the woods, so she's doing pretty good, as far as he's concerned. ]
no worries!! and welcome back!
Not long, so it's lucky I found a citizen for warm shelter and a warm smile! A rogue will fit right at home with me. This place probably hasn't heard of my escapades, but my own band of misfits aren't squeaky clean by any means.
[ Maybe she shouldn't be admitting to breaking the law or being amoral so casually, but eh, she doesn't care. A rogue makes a kindred spirit. She follows his path; her shoes are still wet from the well, and they're making interesting splashing sounds against the cobblestone. The lodgings off in the distance are even more curious. How many people live here, and what kind of accommodations do they have...? ]
thanks
Getting into trouble with your cabal of fellow witches, are you?
[ he's just kidding. mostly. it's also a legitimate guess hidden in a joke... ]
no subject
[ And it's not even always trouble she causes! ]
You don't seem all that surprised. Mayhaps your rogue inclinations means you've caught yourself up in quite a few troubles in your time?
no subject
[ that brow's going up again, curious, but her question interrupts his own burgeoning one, and he chuckles. ]
You don't know the half of it. I've got my own group of troublemakers, myself. It's been a while since I've seen them, at this point, so I can only hope they haven't gotten themselves thrown in jail without me.
no subject
[ She's definitely exaggerating her own importance, and maybe harping on the sore spot of being whisked away to an unfamiliar world, but still. ]
no subject
We'll have to find out. To tell you the truth, this is the first time I've been away from them since we joined up. For all I know, they've burned the manor down.
[ but saint-germain would kill them before that happens, so probably not. ]
So, what was a witch doing leading a band of misfits around?
no subject
[ And guess what, she's going to regale him with it! ]
It was a bit of a spur-of-the-moment thing, but when the passion calls, a performer must answer! It helped us sneak into the capital without scrutiny, and now we put on acts for hire. I'm miserly, but fair and magnanimous, so the money is split between us.
[ Well, it wasn't that long. And she might be admitting to a felony, but it's fine, she'll admit it to a fellow rogue. ]
And it helps kill time when things get boring. So I'm a rogue of the heart, and an enemy of the tedious and dull. What kinds of things do you get up to?
no subject
Miserly and fair? Your magical talents speak for themselves.
[ teasing, but gently so. ]
We sneak about behind the law's back to remove some ne'er-do-wells they'd otherwise miss, mostly. We're heroic misfits, you see. [ Lupin flashes a smile. ] Miss Magilou, was it? My name's Lupin.
no subject
[ She catches the teasing tone, but she just rolls with it. She'll take the praise!! ]
Lupin! A fellow comrade-in-arms. Heroic misfits match my own description--none of us fit together at all. A deceitful coexistence. Like frenemies, without the friends part. [ But not enemies, either. Just people who she pretends she can't stand. Despite her best efforts, her tone is fond. ]
And tonight, another connection was born: a heroic misfit meets a heroic misfit. Lead the way to where a witch could warm up, o misfit of the night.
