ouch is one of the most intimate, romantic ways to be close to someone else. The Town knows this very well -- the Town wants everyone to be as close as possible.
Perhaps that's why this bonding is so...aggressive.
Because you're in for quite the shock on this otherwise peaceful day when you brush against the next person on your path.
Maybe you're going out of your way to touch people. Maybe you've got a terrible urge to just see what's lurking in someone's heart. Maybe you trip over a conveniently placed rock -- whatever the cause, you're getting an up close and personal look into someone else's heart.

[ While it may be an awkward, snobby pep talk, it does reach Lottie in many different ways. Maybe because she is also snobby, very much awkward, and while she isn't so much down to give pep talks herself she is all about receiving it. ]
I mean.. Yeah, that's true. I haven't met anyone from MY world specifically. But being like me, at least here, doesn't make me feel super interesting or cool??

[ Is it super endearing to hear Maribelle parrot her own terminology in her pep talk? Absolutely. It manages to cheer her up a bit, coupled with her words of encouragement. ]

I kind of got stuck in a door and you had to bail me out.. [ A pause. ] And then before that with the castle I got frozen and had to get bailed out... I think what I mean is like, I'm kind of worried about how useful I might be, here?
Just because you cannot fight in the usual way, does not mean you contribute nothing. You give us a reason to fight.
[She whips out her parasol like a baton, walking around Lottie in a circle.]
Those of us with unique powers, we must have these abilities for a purpose - and that purpose is to help those who lack such powers.
