Who told you so, dilly dilly, Who told you so? ‘Twas my own heart, dilly dilly, That told me so.
ouch is one of the most intimate, romantic ways to be close to someone else. The Town knows this very well -- the Town wants everyone to be as close as possible.
Perhaps that's why this bonding is so...aggressive.
Because you're in for quite the shock on this otherwise peaceful day when you brush against the next person on your path.
Maybe you're going out of your way to touch people. Maybe you've got a terrible urge to just see what's lurking in someone's heart. Maybe you trip over a conveniently placed rock -- whatever the cause, you're getting an up close and personal look into someone else's heart.

Maybe it’s just delayed. [Because he certainly doesn’t look that old. Maybe he’s young compared to other extremely old people? Who knows, honestly.]
And if this is my heart, then there’s still just one of us. [And she doesn’t want to think about accidentally touching something she isn’t supposed to and causing a feedback loop with her powers. The last thing Kyrie needs to deal with is her making herself catatonic.]
I.... wasn’t a really normal kid. [In many ways, she thinks as she comes upon her younger self, tucking into the kinds of tiny chairs that people populate children’s rooms with. The child is wearing a blue smock, her hair a little scruffy in the way children’s hair can so easily get when it’s naturally very poufy and adults were too terrified to help her brush it. Tiny Shiho looks up ever so briefly, interest clear in her eyes before she realizes what she’s doing and ducks back down again.]
Hm! Yeah, let's just. Avoid going catatonic, that sounds ideal. Good call, Shiho.
"No, I can't imagine you would have been," he teases, casting a quick glance down at her. "Although, you really shouldn't give yourself so much credit."
He's pretty sure there's no such thing as 'normal' when it comes to children. They're all little terrors, right from the day they're born, with exceptions being few and far between.
Kyrie doesn't miss the look this younger Shiho gives them, and the normal thing to do would... probably be to talk to her? But he can recognize there's some discomfort here all around, and so instead he only tilts his head and smiles, still watching the younger girl while speaking to Shiho herself.
.....Are you just trying to make me mad or something? [Because it's probably working. At least it's helping to distract her from what she knows is coming. The moment he mentions that she may have been short though?
There are two sets of eyes looking at him, both indignant although the little one is much less so.]
I was five. [The littler Shiho gives him a wary look now and then because she can (and because she's done it so often), she picks up her book and makes a run for it into another corner of the room which earns Kyrie a sigh.] Are you normally this bad with kids or are you just making a special effort just for me? Because you shouldn't have. Really.
