Event Seventeen.

I went to the wood and got it;
I sat me down to look for it
And brought it home because I couldn’t find it.

he magical vines creep ever onward, slowly infringing upon the Town. No matter how many are chopped down, no matter how many are set on fire, they keep coming even so.

And slowly, one by one, the people in the Town start to fall to the curse that they bring along with them.

Stay and tend to the cursed? Venture out into the woods to find the castle at the source of these vines?

Whatever you choose to do, you'd better decide quickly; the curse only seems to get worse and worse the longer everyone is afflicted.

[Like. Yeah, okay, she's right it definitely looks like a trap but John's going to puzzle over it and look for a moment.]

You'd think so, but what if it is actually something real that we're supposed to take seriously and the trap is that we'll think it's a trap?

[ Um.... ] The trap is that you think it is a trap...?

It sounds like you're thinking a bit too hard on this. [ She suggests, gently. ]

You think so? [He can concede to that, but now he's just going to stare at the sword again.] What do you think it does then?

I think the trap itself is... [ She brings a hand to her chin thoughtfully. ]

...It's a temptation of power. Here is a mysterious sword for you to take, to have, and to use for yourself: [ A pause, and she glances at him. ] Do you claim it?

Good question. [That certainly sounds more fairytale-like than what he was thinking and he mirrors her stance even as he keeps his eyes on the sword.] I personally wouldn't, but I am not the sword guy. But for someone else it could be too hard to resist. It's not like anyone's guarding it or anything.

....In that case. [ She straightens up. ] I think it's best that we leave it be.

[ THEY ARE TOO SMART FOR THE TRAP, HAH, take that! ]

Sounds good to me. [There's a grin and he's. Promptly turning his back on the sword? It's probably fine if they just ignore it.] Maybe we should put up a warning sign or something though to make sure no one else falls for the trap while we're here. What do you think?
