[ OOC: Tsumugi had wished to become a Gem last December (specifically tanzanite, with a hardness of 6), and will keep up that shiny appearance until the 2nd half of the event. Thus, basic Gem anatomy would apply here. Please tell me if you're planning to injure him in this state though, as he'll turn back into a human if he breaks even a tiny part of himself.

[ Well. Talk about "new year, new me". And what better way to utilize this gem body than to go around helping people like never before when he was still human! Tsumugi will be found at either three districts, and would most likely approach anyone who seems to be deep in thought, coming up with you with a smile that's as bright as his gem hair refracting the winter sunlight. Hope you have some protective eyegear in case you aren't oriented. ]

[ oh, and. in case he doesn't look familiar, he'll whip out his trademark pair of glasses and perch them on his face. ]

Are you sure you know how to take them down, Honebami-kun?

[ says the gemboy who'd recently learned how to fight - and even then he's still wet behind the crystal ears. he'd still need to get some training in anyway, so here they are - scouring the town for demons that look... easier enough to take down? ]

Anyway, thank you so much for accompanying me. All I have is a knife so I might not be as effective, but I'll do my best to protect you if needed!

[ For the sake of this not being a Total Disaster, Honebami is still a tsukumogami. He also grabbed his armor... which is actually kind of spooky but fits his name, Mika would think it's cool, probably. ]

Tantou like my brothers can be just as useful as any other sword. You'll be fine. I'm happy to help you too, Tsumugi-san.

[ He's said that all so calmly, but the faith in Tsumugi sounds honest? They probably shouldn't get ambitious at least... it's practice for the sparkly and armed Tsumugi. Hm... where do they find demons though. ]

[ HE REALLY WOULD, damn. cnstars already had that idea in mind for him as well, it seems. ]

Uwah, I still can't believe sentient swords are also a thing here! Tantou are generally seen as smaller and therefore might not seem all important compared to more traditional swords, but I'm more than sure that you're just as capable, Honebami-kun. Compared to me, at least.

[ teamwork! tsumugi promises not to be dead weight here, though. anyways the forest are most likely packed with them, so they're going to head in there for a bit, but not too far in. ]

I feel like wakizashi are commented on less than tantou, but that's because we're usually a companion to uchigatana if not a status symbol... [ One of them is a lucky charm, another wants to be an idol... ] But, I feel more thankful that people aren't frightened by the concept. I am still a kind of youkai, after all.

[ ooooooh spooky, so spooky... Nah, but yes mugumugu, it's time to prove your worth! When they're in the forest, it certainly feels more ominous than usual, and something causes Honebami to perk up, drawing his sword. ]

Do you hear that?

Sword youkai, at that! You're sooo~o cool, Honebami-kun! Even though I have yet to do extensive research on what you just said by now.

[ he's not some sword fanatic unlike a certain second year, lordt. tsumugi's all too used to the ominous air of the forest by now, but he's a little late in picking up signals that something is out of place here. ]

I-I think so...? [ he draws his... kitchen knife, just in case, and something speeds by them in a blur, causing tsumugi to turn around and watch the shadowy form run eastward. ] There's one!

[ Noooo, don't praise him so much Tsumugi. (Also don't throw shade on Souma but honestly I can't refute it). But the moe mode is cut off by the presence of demon. What they're here for! ]

I see it.

[ And Honebami actually uses sword super-jump powers to hop on the upper branches of the trees. That unfortunately leaves Tsumugi seemingly on his own to fend for himself, but Bami is close. Promise! Do your thing, Moog. ]

[ he's doing his thing of following honebami on the ground, keeping an eye on the fast, shadowy figure running ahead of them. then it comes to an abrupt stop and tsumugi trips at the sudden halt.

oh, they've caught him. the demon runs up to tsumugi this time, appearing bigger and bigger with every step it takes, but tsumugi is able to recover by leaping up and effectively dodging its charge attack, landing onto a tree branch safely. ]

C-Close... So close! Honebami-kun, over here!

[ Thanks to Tsumugi's heads up, Honebami gets the jump on the demon. Unfortunately Honebami can't quite get his blade into the back of its neck very far. It then makes a swipe for him, so time to time to kick flip off its shoulder— why are swords so shonen level extra. ]

We're probably going to have to hit it from the front.

[ Honebami regroup with Tsumugi, and for some reason the creature laughs. Not a normal laugh, of course. It's surprisingly higher in pitch than expected and it almost sounds like... "Huhu ♪".

Weird. ]

[ wow... sword youkai are just as dexterous as the gems, maybe even more so... tsumugi readies his knife, but at the sound of that distinguishable laugh he falters in his step. ]

W-Wait, is that--

[ no, he can't -- ]

Sora-kun...? [ WHO ELSE WOULD LAUGH LIKE THAT ]

Do you [ Dodging a swipe right at him from this giggling demon. ] recognize that voice?

[ Normally this would be sort of easy, but now there is this bit of a twist. Honestly Honebami's curious? So he'll go on the defensive and be bait that could rival Katsugeki's second half or season 7/8 of Volt--

Okay let's be nice. Not to this guy though! ]

It sounds like a child.

[ so many frogs to smooch, so little time to kiss them all. but tsumugi can't just kiss every frog that comes his way; wouldn't want to hog all those rewards for himself and not leave any to the rest.

so he'll approach the uh, tiniest frog he can spot, thinking that maybe they're a kid and therefore would not be awkward to have a kiss with, crouching down to meet them. ]

Hello! Are you waiting for someone to come kiss you? Because I can do in a pinch!

[ just don't mind the fact that he's... sparklier than usual. it's fine. ]

[ She may be tiny, but she is also proud! Noble, even! Out in the cold too, at that. While she may have some reservations about being the kissed, and especially indignant about being a frog, she understands that some things just need to be done.

Still, Tsumugi is certainly a beautiful young man, so she does not mind. Speaking of beautiful, however...the sparkliness does not escape her (froggy) eyes, as tuned as her mindset is toward beauty. Did something happen to him? She squints at him, or as much as a frog can really squint, and leans forward. ]

[ whoa, so forward... either this particular frog has already taken a liking to this sentient rock or just wants to get this over with. either way, tsumugi will scoop nerofrog up in his ice-cold hands, and plants a too-sweet kiss on her forehead. ]

There we go. ♪

[ now to put the frog back down on the ground quickly before it poofs back into a person, though he might be a tad too slow for that - ]

[ He is indeed a little too slow for that, and the change is nigh-instantaneous, the tiny, light frog suddenly transforming into an emperor of 42kg. ]

Wah!

[ THANKFULLY she will be clothed in her usual attire when she reverts, at the very least. (He can see her nigh-naked form traipsing around some other time during this month thanks to the Emperor's New Clothes anyway.) ]

[ oh thank god he won't see her naked glory for the time being, he would've shattered into pieces from the sheer embarrassment of it all. luckily he's able to catch her in his stony arms, and in a bridal carry no less.

ah, he should've known it was her. that was one of the tiniest frogs he'd encountered thus far. ]

M-Miss Saber...? [ he pauses, almost to a comedic effect, before he carefully puts her down so that he can prostrate himself in front of her ] I-I'm sorry! I'm very sorry!

Y-You, laying your lips on me without my permission...! Such cheek!

[ She huffs! Loudly! Flustered all the while, because she did not ask for that particular kiss (although she honestly should've seen it coming considering he all but blared his intentions), and it wasn't from her waifu!! But he gave ample warning what he was going to do, and it's true that thanks to him, she's finally been turned back into a person. So. ]

W-Well...

[ She fidgets. ]

...I am back to my normal, glorious self because of you as well, so...so I shall let this transgression slide.

Y-Yes! That is the plan, a-absolutely! I didn't mean to kiss you in any way other than that alone! So please forgive me, Miss Sabeeeer--

he pauses, before getting back up to his feet and scratching the back of his head sheepishly. ]

Anyway, that's no problem at all! Though I apologize if I really stole your first kiss or anything like that... if I could I'd give it back to you.

[ She's done her fair share of fooling around, uwoh. But!! Something more pressing is on her mind, and she decides to prod Tsumugi, quite literally, about it, poking at his now-sparkly hair. She's pretty sure he didn't sparkle so much before!! ]

Of course! A lovely emperor such as you would have at least more than one lover--

tsumugi blinks at his hair being poked; it sure is made of solid gemstone, and it sparkles at the slight movement. oh, right, she's probably confused about all this - ]

Oh, um, some stuff happened and I now have a gemstone body! I'm not the only living gem here, though I suppose I'm the first human-to-gem abomination. It's nothing to be worried about, Miss Saber.

[ That's not quite what she meant, but that's not wrong either...so she lets that slide with little reaction...............

The gem-ness is what is the more pressing matter! Her eyes widen in shock, and she leans in closer to get a better look at his...everything. His skin. His hair. His eyes. So sparkly. So shiny. She shakes her head, as if to stop her thoughts from wandering so. ]

Oh, yes! I have met a living gem as well. Their name was Phospoli...Pospho...Phos, I believe.

[ She prods his forehead next. ]

Ah, you are hardly an abomination. [ Poke. ] Indeed, I thought you were handsome before, but now you are simply stunning! Is this a temporary change, or permanent?

[ it's all right, tsumugi cannot pronounce their name either for the life of him. at least tanzanite is easier to say? not that tsumugi would start telling people to call him that any soon. ]

[ maybe she thinks he's only handsome because of his sparkling face rather than his personality... ah well, he'll take what he can get. ]

I'm actually not sure... I've been careful so as not to let myself shatter or anything, and I'm fortunate enough not to turn into a frog while this quest is going on! [ a pause. ] Does that mean I'd turn into some sort of jeweled frog if comes to it, though?

Possibly! If that comes to pass, I am sure you would be the most splendid jeweled frog!

[ A shiny frog...rock...frock? She nods confidently, pleased with the mental image because it'd be so shiny. Like a frog-shaped gem. A sculpture of sorts. ]

Ah, still, is it not a big change to adjust to? Alteration of the corpus to this extent can be disorienting.

Alteration of the corpus...? [ is that a fancier term for body transformation? her highness sure knows her large words... ] It was confusing at first, but the gems in this town helped me settle into their lifestyle quite easily! Human bodies just can't compare, can they...

[ is it possible to be homesick for your own mortal body though? bodysickness? anyway. ]

But please, enough about me! You must be just as disoriented as a frog, so I feel just as bad about it.

[ That's good to hear that he has gem friends to help with the acclimation. Humans are so fragile in comparison, but she's not sure how to feel about being a gem. Is death an inevitability for them too, or a mere option? Nero wouldn't like it very much if it were the latter. ]

I know that one cannot choose who to turn into a frog [ or can they??? ], so the fault is not yours. Still, you are correct. It was most unpleasant to navigate the human world as an amphibian.

[ THE FROGGING NEVER STOPS... tsumugi's taken a break from kissing for the time being and heads over to the well to check if any newcomers need some help in getting out among other things. as expected there are a bunch more frogs gathered around the well, and one of them stands out to tsumugi most specifically.

it's wearing a cute witch's outfit - must be a witch themselves? how the tables have turned. there's a pang of homesickness in where his heart should be as he scoops the frogwitch up in his hands, eyeing it carefully. ]

Uwah, your outfit is so cuuu~te! Whoever made this must be so proud of themselves~ ♪

[ ah, little does this gemboy know that that outfit would look familiar to him in the future. he just likes how this look on a baby amphibian like that. ]

[ natsume has every right to be confused and downright irritated at tsumugi's... everything, and not to mention being transported in the middle of a live, but natsume's complaints are translated into incessant croaking that's probably not normal for a frog, and tsumugi has almost dropped him in surprise at the sudden noises he's making. h-hold on, let me just take him from the top of his head again - ]

S-Sorry! I understand not wanting to be picked up by someone like me, but you must be very cold after coming out of the well. You're probably one of the newbies here, so you must have a lot of questions too...

[ tsumugi he's a coldblooded amphibian, the fuck. then he starts sprinting with the frog in hand, towards bluo. ]

I'll take you back home first so that I can cure you, so hold on tight! [ his gem body has made him strangely agile, so natsume might actually want to hold on for real. ]

[ okay, so. they're in ryan's place, prepping themselves up for this quest - well, tsumugi mostly by mentally preparing himself, but he's still uncertain about sharing his strange affliction with ryan. ]

Wait, before we switch, don't you have any more questions for me? The transformation might be more than a shock to you.

[ because... boy. tsumugi isn't used to it yet, though he is getting there. might as well relay more gem information to people who'd need it? ]

I mean-- my whole life is basically dealing with weird things? So I'm sure it'll be weird, but... I've had to adjust to ones that were arguably kind of worse.

[dying and coming back to life is an unpleasant experience every time, but he at least has the sense not to say that to tsumugi, who seems like a perfectly normal and decent person when he's not-- well, a rock. ryan is slowly learning to try to be a little more careful, that not everyone here is open to hearing that sort of thing.]

It'll likely be weird for you too, honestly. I've had a sixth sense my whole life, I don't know what it's going to be like to suddenly have one-- just that it's going to be a different kind of sensory input for you.

Mm, probably. But ever since I've become a rock, I want to be more open to more fantastical elements of this town? Because the only magic I can do is singing, and that's still too mundane compared to the others who can do actual magic and the like.

[ not that he's jealous or anything. really, he's not. he would've handled it all badly anyway without the help of natsume. anyways this power exchange won't be too bad, since they don't have to stay like that for too long, and tsumugi does trust ryan. fortunetellers can be absolutely trusted above all else. ]

I'll be sure to tell you if anything goes wrong. But before we start... Have you seen anything super creepy in town, like invisible undead monsters with melting faces and the like? Because I probably wouldn't last that long, sorry.
