[Bouncing down the stairs to the "lobby" of the cafe in his house, Rin was bundled in his heavy Pacman hoodie with his sword in hand. It wasn't as if he had to go to Kohaku's house for her - she was in the cafe all the time anyway.]

I'm ready whenever you are.

[ She probably would have insisted coming over to his place anyway. If Duo saw them together, he'd tease her more than he already was about him. ]

[ She saw Ayame trot over to them and she bent down to give her a gentle pat. ]

We'll be back later, okay? Be good while we're gone!

[Ayame gives an excited trill, rubbing up against Kohaku's hand.]

She can take care of the cafe for us.

[Except she doesn't have thumbs. Nor can she walk on two feet.

But she'll do her best!]

She'll be so good at that!

[ Nevermind that the cafe is probably closed since two of their employees are gone for now ... ]

I'll make sure your daddy doesn't do anything dumb, okay? Just take care of things here until we get back, Ayame.

[ She's a good friend, really. ]

[Goodbye any hope of this going smoothly. The stupid will happen one way or another now.]

Hey, it's okay ... That's why I'm here!

[ She pats his shoulder with a smile. Y'all are doomed, let's be honest. ]

[ Noooo don't be upset, she was just poking you a bit. :( ]

[He is a little worried now that he'll do something that will get them hurt.]

I just wanna make sure we get through this, y'know? We don't even know what kinda demons we're dealin' with yet.

... And without thinking, she takes his hand into hers and squeezes it gently. Okay, well, that was ... Probably a more awkward move than it should have been, but now we're here and we've got to commit to it. ]

I'm sure we'll be fine. We're both capable fighters, and with you having some experience with demons this should hopefully not be too bad.

[Ah...

That's oddly comforting. He hadn't expected it even with how psychically affectionate Kohaku tends to be, but it doesn't bother him in the least.]

Hopefully. I wish we had more to go on but we'll just have to do our best with what we've got.

[ Oh. Oh, good. He's not rejecting the comfort. But now it'd just be awkward if she let go of his hand ... And she kind of doesn't want to. It was helping him, and seeing him calm down made her feel better, so, she keeps a hold on his hand and smiles at him happily, tugging on his arm a little. ]

The sooner we see what we're up against, the sooner we can figure out how to deal with it, right?

[He grew up without friends, but thankfully Shiro made up for a lot of the lacking physical affection he would have otherwise received. He's not not repulsed by it even if sometimes it is surprising when others do it without prompting from him.]

Yeah. I figure we can move towards the forest to start. That's where most of these things hang out, so we'll know pretty soon if there's anythin' around.

[ Still holding his hand, she begins walking toward the door so they could get going with this quest. ]

Ha. Yeah. A plan.

[Sure, let's go with calling it that. It's a plan and not "wander until we maybe find something".

But they're out the door, leaving Ayame behind and... maybe getting a quest out of the way.]

[ y'know, for as much as she realizes this is a job and not just a casual walk in the forest, she's oddly happy about this whole situation. It's not something she quite understands herself, but she's not going to question the good mood she's in. ]

Demons target people with 'weak hearts'. I know that really means more emotional weakness, but I didn't wanna get you in to somethin' that could fuck with what you just got fixed.

Oh. Yeah, I guess that would be a concern ...

[ Huh. Kohaku wasn't too worried, though. She was pretty strong-willed, even with an incomplete spirune. ]

I'll be fine, though. I guess it makes sense that demons would look for a weakness to exploit.

[Good.]

Yeah. Hell, even I've given in to some low level jerks before. They didn't fully possess me but they had me actin' pretty crazy.

[He won't say how, though. That entire scene was just... awful.]

So, yeah, you should be okay from that. They can be pretty tricky even without the whole possession thing.

I guess it wouldn't be the first time I've been possessed ...

[ Though the person possessing her was kind of a welcome guest in her spirune. ]

[It's a good thing she's explained that to him before, because otherwise he would be very concerned.]

Yeah, but that was different. You really don't want a demon possessin' you.

What sort of things can happen with a demon possession?

[ She's actually kind of curious about this. ]

You lose complete control of yourself. Like there may be moments where you're fine but as soon as the demon takes over you're gone. You don't act at all like yourself, though I guess if you're under their control long enough you probably wouldn't remember anythin' either.
