( closed ) Scout! Lustrous
Who: Phosphophyllite, Cairngorm, and gem!Tsumugi
Where: the newly-upgraded gem haus
When: 1/1
What: Tsumugi's impulsive wish came true, but now he needs help and luck more than ever.
Warnings: tba
[ it all started when tsumugi woke up in the library with clear, 20-20 vision. and grabbing his glasses only to find his odd reflection in the lens. and staring at his glossy, too-blue hands and realizing that -- oh. it came true. it actually came true but at the cost of his own human body and he didn't even think of how he can get it back if it's ever possible...
so now he runs out of the library, dimly notimh how the cold feels practically nothing to his crystallized body, and rushes over to where the gems live. the fact that he has no heart that should be jumping out of chest by now terrifies him more than anything, and he knocks on the door rapidly as he catches his breath - or tries to because he's got no more lungs either, holy crap.
whoever gem would answer the door first will find tsumugi in all his glittering gemlike glory, still donning the sweater he'd worn prior to transforming, and glasses on his face because of course he can't leave them behind. ]
I-It... It came true. My wish...
[ he's. probably not making sense, but this town doesn't make sense of things either so here they all are, he supposes. ]

S..Sparkly! You're so bright...!?
[ The brightness of the snow is refracting all the light off of Tsumugi's unpowdered body in glittery brilliance, Phos immediately clapping a hand over their eyes. After a moment of adjustment, they peek through their fingers and gawk as silently lean back into the house to yell: ]
CAIRNGOOOORM!! We have an emergency!
no subject
It's another gem. ]
What the... [ They're frozen for a short beat, before they can get themself to take those last few steps to get into Phos and Tsumugi's(?) vicinity. But when they do - it's blinding. They have to squint a little until their eyes adjust. ] Tsumugi? That's you, isn't it?
[ The shape is the same, the voice is the same, the clothes are the same. So it has to be, even if they're definitely seeing a blue, glittery gem in front of them. ]
What happened?
[ Their tone is every bit expectant, because they highly doubt something of this caliber happened out of nowhere. There has to be a reason. ]

Ahaha, I guess Phos-san forgot to tell you? They did mention that they're forgetful, which is why they wished for a better memory...
Anyways, um. Phos-san and I went to the well together and made a wish! And I... wished for a gem body? That's mighty stronger than theirs so that I won't break that easily. Physically, that is. Not sure if this'll affect my mental state, though... So I woke up today to find out that my wish came true...?!
[ it's a good thing his voice cracked at the end instead of. you know. a part of his body - a sign that he's still slightly freaking out. ]
Huu, I just don't know who to tell or ask for help, so here I am? I'm terribly sorry for being a bother! [ and he bows down, making the light refraction in his body even worse with every movement and flooding the interiors of their house with even more sparkles. ]

[ Why are they being dragged so viciously in this situation.. Phos doesn't deserve this. The fingers covering their eyes are starting to drip out of shape the more they listen, and Phos all but tumbles out of the house to usher Tsumugi inside in a half-blind frenzy. ]
But you're in good hands! So hurry inside and we'll apply some powder, and make sure you know everything about being a gem..! This is just like when someone new arrives on the Chord Shore, huh Cairngorm?
[ they have no idea what that's like, actually. but they Must be the experienced and knowing senior in this situation— forcefully chipper about it to cover their panic, in fact. ]
So exciting!

[ They snap; Phos has never even been there when a new gem appeared, what do they know. Still, with Tsumugi being ushered in, they reluctantly move out of the way, shoving the door closed with more force than necessary. ]
Why would you make such a dangerous wish in the first place?! [ Looks like Phos was right to say that Cairngorm would complain and lecture if they found out about this. However, despite lashing out at both Tsumugi and Phos, it looks like they're going in the direction of where they keep the powder they make, and the actually quality brush that Lupin made for them, while Phos takes care of pulling Tsumugi around. ] You know, you might not ever be able to turn back.

regardless - ]
Huu, I didn't think it'd come true either? It was completely an impulse on my part, and Phos-san had made it sound so appealing-- A-And it's fine! My old human body's pathetic anyway, so I figured that... if my wish would somehow come true, I'd become a much better, more capable person with it.
[ now that he won't be hindered with hunger and having imperfection vision, among other things. this is how you think positive, right? ]

They know exactly where he's coming from, making a wish and his reason to change, and Phos tries not to feel rattled with how much they resonate with those words as they guide him a little further into their cottage. ]
Cairngorm has a hardness of seven, so they wouldn't understand something like that. I have a hardness of three and a half, so I also wanted to be more useful when I was younger to overcome that. It's not a bad wish at all.
[ improvise adapt overcome ]

Once they've retrieved the proper materials and tools, they make their way over to the table, setting it all down before giving Phos a scrutinizing look. ]
"When you were younger"... you're still young, you know. [ They talk like it was more than just a century ago that they were still like that. But whatever. Their gaze moves to Tsumugi, studying the hue of the crystal before them. ] I guess in addition to giving up that "pathetic" human body, you wanted to give up your mortality, too, then.
[ Sure, human bodies are completely pathetic in comparison to gem ones; that much, they can agree on. However, there is more nuance to this than the surface level. ]
It's true that your body is much more capable and advanced than a human's is, now. But I hope Phos mentioned to you that our kind is immortal, among the other advantages over humans we have. [ A beat. ] Most humans I've talked to aren't fond of the idea of living like we do.

[ it kind of sucks though, having to live forever while there are no proper ways to die, but tsumugi will have to make the most of that. he'd promised himself before he even came here, right? that he'd keep on living today, tomorrow, and the day after that?
he just didn't think that he doesn't have a deadline anymore in this state. ]
And speaking of, you two look and act very young for people who'd lived for quite a while; Phos-san in particular feels like a child that I myself can't help but feel old sometimes. [ laughs ] In a way, it's kind of like this house you guys are staying in - looking completely old and decrepit on the outside while looking like a fancy apartment on the inside! How'd you all pull it off when you can't use most human necessities anyway?
[ literally everyone would kill for proper plumbing in this place, do y'all know. tsumugi goes ahead and takes a seat, eyes glittering as he looks around the room they're in. ]

[ Excluding the part where they were asleep for a century, the amount of rapid change paired with their faulty memory leaves gaps in Phos's mind for what happened and when. ]
A child..! [ They whip around to face Tsumugi with a stricken expression. ] Four hundred and three years may be young for a gem, but I've lived dozens of lifetimes compared to you. You should be grateful to the senior who helped you come up with this wish, since you don't have to worry about dying anymore.
[ This betrayal.. they're going to sulk about it and take a seat too, head resting on the surface of the table. Have fun doing the powdering, partner. ]
This is what Lottie's home looks like in her world. I don't get what most of this stuff is, but she seems pretty happy about all of it. Humans have so many complicated tools.. [ what the heck is a microwave, anyway. ]
I feel like it'd be easier for them if everyone could just become a gem.
no subject
Human bodies have many flaws in comparison to ours, so they have a bunch of tools to make up for it, I guess... us gems really only need a few to survive. Resin and brushes, mostly.
[ They have to agree with Tsumugi's sentiment about Phos acting like an idiot baby. The only reason they don't pursue the topic of belittling Phos further is because they have a job to do - they take a hand to Tsumugi's cheek to hold it steady, before puffing on the first stroke of powder to the opposite cheek. ]
Without feeling temperature or needing to eat, most of what humans use is useless to our kind. In terms of convenience, yes, you have it a lot easier now.
[ Nodding in acknowledgment to Phos's statement, they keep their eyes on their work rather than at either gem as they talk. If everyone just became gems, so many problems would be solved - no need to stress out about finding food to eat, no need to stress out about the snowy weather. They'd just be living day to day lives as Phos and Cairngorm do here, and what looks like they'll have to teach Tsumugi to do. ]

[ he's grinning from ear to ear, sorry cairn... he'll sit up straight, closing his eyes as the other gem sweeps powder all over his new face; it's no different from a makeup artist merely doing their job on an idol prior to performing on stage, and yet. ]
Lottie-san, huh... She must be quite well-off in her world. So lucky~
[ this apartment is luxurious compared to most houses in chroma right now, but honestly it doesn't look any more special than the ones back home... yumenosaki is home to a majority of rich kids, after all. ]
But... while it's true that not having any human characteristics that would hinder us, there are good things about being human sometimes -- like being able to eat, for one! All the sweets you can consume, the sour and salty and bitter food in between, even the hot and cold drinks you can drink -- there really is nothing like a filling meal after a long hard day, whether good or bad.
[ it's okay for him to talk while he's being powdered, right. ok. ]
It's the littlest of things like that that keeps people like me to keep living most days. [ and now he can't have them again........... oof ]
no subject
Yes! Yes!!
[ They perk up from where they're sitting across from Tsumugi, gleaming after getting the recognition they totally deserve for helping come up with this wish. It's not long after that their expression slips into one of confusion, followed by.. pity? ]
What? Shouldn't there be more for humans to enjoy than just eating.. [ cue head tilt and smile of Concern. ]
I mean, you can still taste the things you liked eating as a human, but after a long day we usually play cards together or something back home.. You can live for that instead! I'll teach you how to cheat and beat Cairngorm. We can play every night at the time that you would eat food as a human.
I DIDNT REALIZE IT WAS MY TURN... IM SO SORRY
[ Their hand stills in applying the powder, if only to give the both of them an incredibly flat look. Phos may have Lapis's braincells now, but they're still stupid as hell underneath that - there's no way Phos could beat them in cards. Come to think of it, have they ever played? Phos didn't hang out with Ghost and them very much in the first 300 years of their life. ]
Why would I play with either of you when you just said you were gonna cheat... [ Lapis used their conniving charm all the time in card games. These tricks won't work on them!! They puff the brush against Tsumugi's lips to keep him from responding. ] Playing cards everyday is not something to live for, regardless. I don't see how eating can be, either.
[ There's a scolding note to their voice, aimed at the two of them. The brush moves to forehead. ]
Usually you'd get a job to keep you busy and have a purpose, but obviously Phos and I can't give you that. So you need to figure it out yourself...
