[OPEN] Thought that I'd forget all about the past.
Who: Sinistra and YOU
Where: Around Town and probably the forest
When: Sometime early-mid December
What: Monthly catch-all. Bell quests, Goin Ghost, Moping Over his Brother... for now...?
Warnings: None yet
1. Snow
[ Sinistra has been given a terrible power.
He has learned about snowball fights as a form of play. As a man who was a boy who never got to play games outside of telephone chess, he's a little... excited about it? As much as such a subdued person can be.
So maybe, just maybe, as you walk through Ruga on one of December's snowy days, you'll feel a loosely packed ball of snow burst against your shoulder or side. You could ignore it, or maybe you'll look for the source. The even-faced man with the large, distant blue eyes doesn't look like a mischief maker but the end of his coat sleeves are definitely dusted with snow as if he reached right into a pile of it. ]
2. High Spirits
[ Sinistra is used to being opposite... about 50% of the population whenever weird things happen. Little really fazes him after all of the odd and terrible things that happened at home.
Really? He's just happy to have other people in his house regularly... even if those people are a small family that can't really see or hear him. Sure, it's like watching a film playing constantly around him, but he's a little enthralled by it? They seem so content. They are maybe the closest thing to a normal family that he's ever witnessed in his life. So, of course, he's curious and fond of seeing them be happy. Live their lives. And maybe that's not great?
For him, though, being ghostly is no big deal. He barely notices when he slips out of having a truly corporeal form every now and then. It's easy to catch him slipping through his door without opening it or reaching through the bookshelves in the library to grab at a book he hasn't read, only to fail to grasp it. He doesn't seem to stagger or startle when he's an inch or so above the floor, either. He's been moving as a ghost for much longer than he'd ever moved as a living person, so it's Whatever.
But maybe having this already grim looking man walk right through your back is not okay with anyone else. At least he says 'excuse me'? ]
3. I'll Have a Blue Christmas Without You
[ Despite all of this, Sinistra was having a fairly good first holiday season. He hasn't learned how to express a 'good mood', but he seemed even hearted and a bit more social throughout the month.
That is until Dextera went all statue on him.
Neither brother is Great at being separated. As much as Sinistra wants to be the strong big brother that sets a good example, he's not. He is absolutely not.
So, in the last week or so of the month, if you can find him anywhere at all, it might be outside feeding Dextera's chickens with a terribly dead look on his face or in his brother's room, laying on the floor stuck in a pretty hard depression. He doesn't know what to do with himself, so he barely does anything. He won't be answering messages or making much talk. He's also feeling uncooperative, so encouraging him or trying to drag him out for festive fun is going to be a fight all on its own.
It's not that he doesn't want to see his friends, but he's unfortunately way worse at coping than he thought. ]

dashing through the snow
This is the right way, right?
no subject
He follows along behind him, walking the same path as Mutsu as they cross under the bowed trees. ]
Yes, it was this way.
2!
He's kind of avoiding running into any of the myriad ghosts as he makes his way down the streets, looking around warily and taking a meandering path to avoid walking through any of them -- and he gives a short, startled scream when someone suddenly walks right through him. ]
Augh, god! -- [ He stumbles back one or two steps, hand at his chest to quell his thumping pulse as he mumbles to himself, ] -- I really hope this doesn't last too long, geez ...
[ And then he realizes Sinistra said 'excuse me,' and looks up, startled anew. ] -- wait, you're not one of those ghosts? You can talk?
no subject
He lets out a breath, and after stepping back a foot. ]
Ah... yes. I am not. And I can.
no subject
Oh, sorry. I didn't mean to scare you back. Just, y'know. [ He kind of makes a face, gesturing at himself. ] Stuff isn't supposed to just go through you unless it's, like, a bullet. And that's cause for alarm in a whole different way.
[ Hm, okay, maybe that wasn't the best tangent to go on. His voice trails off awkwardly for a moment before he tries again. ]
-- uh, anyway! Is that just something you can do, normally?
no subject
[ He and his brother had been skewered by plenty of things. And the Archangel was just a projection, wasn't he? It's not so weird to him. This isn't the first time he's been alone in that sense. ]
Not normally. Not since I arrived here. I stopped being a spirit when I showed up here.
no subject
Oh! So you were originally a spirit -- that's kinda cool! Uh, I think? I mean, unless it was bad for you, in which case, that's ... not great, I guess? Does it feel familiar, going back to being, um, ghost-y?
[ Absently doing a spooky finger-wiggle with one hand as he says that. ]
no subject
It's not good to be fading in and out of corporeal form. He didn't like being dead. At the same time, it's been the norm for him for so long, he's not sure he cares much about it. It's probably temporary, right? ]
Yes, it is. I was dead for a long time. It isn't jarring to return to this kind of state for me.
no subject
Mm, well, I guess at least that makes things kinda easier for you, then? We don't really have ghosts where I'm from -- or at least, people only talk about them, nobody knows if they're real -- so it's been hard for me to get used to all this. But you must feel a bit more comfortable so that's nice, right? The town kinda throws all sorts of stuff at us, so even a little bit of a break must be good!
no subject
Slowing down some to walk only a little bit ahead of him, )
Did it come true? Your wish?
no subject
He shrugs his shoulders, not seeming enthused. He just isn't sure yet. ]
Maybe... I have not confirmed. My wish was not for myself.
no subject
I suppose that it is good to know that they cannot harm you. They seem completely unaware of us... I tried speaking to the family in my home with few results.
[ He shrugs his shoulders. ]
Comfortable? It doesn't frighten me if that is your meaning. I had no plans to go back to this state.

[ Sinistra's quiet nature just makes it easier for Jion to ramble when given the chance. Sorry Sinistra, you don't deserve this. Still, Jion ruminates for a moment, then gives him a cheery grin. ]
-- but I guess knowing a guy like you used to be a ghost, I feel a little better? You seem like a pretty alright guy, so maybe these ghosts are fine, too!
no subject
All the same, I am sure they are fine.

( He stops for a moment so Sinistra can catch up and he uses the moment to adjust his scarf, pulling it up to his nose to keep it warm. At least he sounds impressed with SInistra's decision! Sinistra might be a little rough around the edges but he's pretty nice, isn't he?
They don't have much farther to go. It's just a matter of getting through the heavy snow. You'd think there would be a more clear path considering all of the people going into the woods for this but they still have to work to get there. )
So you're gonna make another wish today too? Got any ideas?
no subject
[ After all, what could he ever want for himself that would be more important than what he could give his brother with this opportunity?
Following behind Mutsu makes it easier to trudge on through the snow. He's not used to walking in it and his waify physique makes it tiring to push through. Having a cleared path is... well, he's thankful for it. ]
Mm, I believe I do.
