@ mcgilly furreed, december, forest
But before taking off for the forest, he decides to come up with his wish first.
It proves harder than he thinks. Wish to go home? There had to be something more important than that. Wish for someone to be alive? He'd come to grips with them being long gone already. Wish to see someone again? That one wasn't impossible to achieve. He isn't going to think about that one too long.
But after a few hours of thought, here he is, stepping out of the shrubbery from behind a tree to find the bell—right at the same time as someone else. ]
MCGILLY
He wonders if maybe that will play a part in this little quest—would "they" be able to tell his lack of sincerity in a wish? But it had been one of the more innocuous quests, and if he was going to try them out, it seemed best to try this one. Granted, he was reluctant to think something like this would be as simple as it seemed, but regardless...
...well, regardless, it seems he's not alone. And it has to be him, because of course it does. It's a little annoying—at some point, it had gotten easier to pretend to be someone else, and so it's... annoying, that it's the one person he'd never been able to pretend with.
(But that was something he'd always liked about being with him, too—that he didn't have to pretend.)
Well, it's fine. It's not like he genuinely believed in wishes, anyway.]
Please, don't mind me.

Gaelio is just giving him a flat stare for a long moment, near expressionless, then looks back at the bell. ]
You have a wish to make?
[ To his credit... he doesn't sound incredulous or snarky. There's a hint of something pompous, but it's more like curiosity than anything. ]

[He knows that Gaelio must be genuinely curious. And he appreciates the lack of attitude—he really does.
...but that doesn't mean he's going to return the favor and not be a pain about it.]

You can avoid my question if you want.
[ But he wants to know!!!!!!!!!! ]

[He knows he wants to know.]
I wouldn't be here if I didn't. Of course, I have my doubts.
no subject
[ What an aggravating man... of course, it's completely expected. He's spent most of his life getting to know him. ]
I'm not going to beg you for answer this time.
no subject
You know, it's rude to ask a question like that without first offering your own answer.

But he's sighing, moving towards the bell. He's not embarrassed by his wish or anything but... he feels like it would be better if McGillis isn't around to hear it. ]
Do you really want to hear it?
no subject
(That's an excuse.)]
I'm allowed to be curious, too, aren't I?

But that's not right; he had to spout his mouth before he died, and Gaelio starkly remembers that whole thing. The more he considers it, the more he can feel the anger slipping out of him, so he just shoots a glare off to the side and steps into place.
Years ago, he would have done this and felt embarrassed. Now, he just reaches up and rings the bell once. ]
I wish for you to be able to rest, now.
[ Awk...ward...? It should be pretty clear from the soft tone of his voice that he's not talking about McGillis, but rather one of the subjects of McGillis' "villainous" schemes. ]
