t's very, very cold. It's cold enough that you'll see your breath fog in the air before you, that goosebumps appear on your arms and legs and a chill goes up your spine. You're inside, in a huge palace with sweeping arches and rooms, but it's no real shelter from the cold -- it's just as cold inside as out.
There's a throne room, a kitchen, various rooms and even a dungeon to be explored -- and outside, a frigid, frozen garden, a lake that's naturally frozen over, and miles, and miles of snow as far as the eye can see.
But be careful while you explore. The snowflake soldiers are naturally dangerous, but even more dangerous than that...there's that creeping sensation of numbness going up your arm, a pang through your chest, and the slow, slow freezing from the inside out.
Try not to leave any of your friends behind, okay? Even if they might look a bit too uncannily like some of the statues hanging around for decoration when they're frozen over.

Those mirrors are a temptation. But for some… [ him, in particular ] …they are only a reminder.

Bleeding heart, here.
But then. He says it, a reminder. And it's as if something about all those reflections in others' mirrors and her own finally click. It wasn't as if the mirrors were showing just some part of them-- as if she had originally thought-- it was more that the mirrors were showing who they had once been. ] A... reminder...?
no subject
Maybe I should have kept mine after all. To remind me of how far I've come. [ She says softly. ]
Thank you. I hadn't thought of those mirrors that way, Archer.

[ Though he’s not aware of her particular circumstances, he does know from experience that some people have broken their mirror for the sake of others. And the thought of it makes him all the sadder. ]
And they have left their mark on us already.
no subject
[ Her smile this time is complex, bittersweet. ] Maybe this place is trying to remind us that we all need each other. [ It's wishful thinking, and perhaps entirely too optimistic in its own way. But she's only saying as much in a joking tone. ]
no subject
It would explain a lot of things… ]
I don’t deny that I would be lost without the friends I have made here. [ Incidentally, she’s now included in that. ]
But I wonder if forging such bonds is worth it, in the end.
no subject
...I think it is. [ Pyra eventually replies, still observing the fire. ] Worth it, I mean.
[ And then’s turning once more to look at him, gaze fond. ] I don’t think I’d ever be able to meet someone like you anywhere else, after all. [ Because how often does one run into someone who has been plucked from a different time and then brought to others? But also— he seems so courteous. So mindful. That’s a rarity in of itself. ]
no subject
Such things as she speaks of aren’t meant for him, he thinks. He can only meet her kind gaze with one full of sorrow. ]
It is the same for me, and yet…you might come to regret it, soon enough.
no subject
So instead she just a look. And then--
--nudges him with her elbow, playfully. ] I don't know, I don't think I could regret meeting someone who offered to fetch me some hot cocoa right after I met him. Would you? [ She knows that's not what he meant, but. She's trying to cheer him up a bit, since it seems like he could use it. ]

all the timesometimes. ]Ah, but how could I refuse the requests of such a fair and noble lady as you?

[ She says, canting her head a bit at him. The emerald crystals of her earrings sway with the movement, catching the light-- or perhaps giving off light themselves. ]
Your flattery would be even more effective if you smiled a bit. [ TURN THAT FROWN UPSIDE DOWN, MAN. She doesn't know why. But she wants to make it happen. Somehow. ]
no subject
Very well. [ Said with a sigh—and a little smile. Just a teensy one. ] If only for the sake of such exquisite company.

But then she blinks, and then it's another tilt of her head in the opposite direction, as if she's just noticed something peculiar. ] You look... younger, somehow. With a smile.
[ Her brow furrows for a bit as she searches his face, her expression thoughtful. ] ...Like that's the way it should be. [ Happy, she means. ]
no subject
Don't think I didn't hear that.
no subject
I do not think I am wrong. [ He even chuckles a little at her coy response. ]
Why, I would certainly immortalize your beauty in song.
no subject
Okay, she's traveled with a playwright before that had mentioned immortalizing their tale into a story for all to enjoy. But she hasn't exactly seen that performance yet, and probably won't for a very long time. ]
...Now I can't tell if you're joking or not.
no subject
Oh, I am quite serious when it comes to women.

look at this smooth ass mother fucker taking out a goddamn harp wtfJust his fingers lightly brushing along the strings has Pyra's attention. His touch upon the harp seems so soft, his fingertips just barely strumming along the impossibly thin strings. He had not even been playing anything at all, but already he has her complete attention as if those few notes had filled an entire amphitheater while simultaneously quieting the entire world around it. ]
...Ah, then. Please. [ She gestures with a hand, wanting him to continue. ]

I see a flower blooming by the wayside
Struggling valiantly to rise above the snow
Oh, how I yearn to take her with me, and yet—
The road leads on, toward where the sun must set.
I see a flower blooming by the wayside
So sweetly did she yearn for a kiss from me
In the cold, as I gazed upon her sweet smile—
I wonder if I might stay with her a while…

They are not memories of when she had been Pyra, but when she had once walked as another being, when she had once traveled with another person as well. Yet she recalls seeing all the lonely sub-titans that formed the greater archipelago, and upon their crowns that topped the cloud-sea would be stretches of land blessed with lush gardens. It would take days to traverse to some of these living islands, but to see the remote flowers that grew there even in such conditions was entirely worth it....
She had closed her eyes to indulge in the song without even realizing it, and when he finishes she blinks them open, feeling just a little shy. ]
I... hope he stayed with her a while. That flower. [ She says when he finishes, voice soft. She looks back to the fire, a tender look in her eyes. ] At least for a little bit.
Because flowers are fragile. [ Humans are fragile, fleeting things. ] The next time he may return, she might not be there...
no subject
Why, I would stay with her for as long as she wishes. She need only ask, and perhaps…do so with a kiss.
[ He’s kidding.
He really wouldn’t mind a kiss tho]no subject
[ And then she laughs, because— it is a joke, isn’t it? At least that’s how she’s going to take it. It almost flew over her head. ] Not unless you’re going to be frozen-over yourself, Archer.
[ Bet he wishes he broke his mirror now huh. He could have had everyone giving him kisses! ] Although with your voice, I’m guessing you could have what you seek with anyone else.
no subject
Such honeyed words are reward enough for me, Miss Pyra. But if not a kiss, then—perhaps the warmth of your company?
no subject
She's going to scoot a little closer to him on the bench. And yes she is warm, literally, as she moves nearer so that their shoulders are alongside each others'. ] Of course. [ She says quietly, as if sharing a secret. Because although she's not quite revealed that she isn't human to others, it's certainly easy to guess that she not in the first place.
Pyra lifts up a hand, letting a few flakes of snow fall upon her palm. The crystals melt upon her fingertips, where the water then slowly turns to steam, rising into the air. ] I’ll keep you warm, whenever you wish.
[ I’ll protect you.
She remembers, long ago, what it meant to be useful and appreciated, not feared and sealed. She remembers how she had tried. She remembers how she had meant to protect others, because she owed it to the world. Keeping someone warm is along the lines of protection, isn’t it? Even if he’s being facetious. But she wants this; she wants to feel as if she is doing good. ]
