t's very, very cold. It's cold enough that you'll see your breath fog in the air before you, that goosebumps appear on your arms and legs and a chill goes up your spine. You're inside, in a huge palace with sweeping arches and rooms, but it's no real shelter from the cold -- it's just as cold inside as out.
There's a throne room, a kitchen, various rooms and even a dungeon to be explored -- and outside, a frigid, frozen garden, a lake that's naturally frozen over, and miles, and miles of snow as far as the eye can see.
But be careful while you explore. The snowflake soldiers are naturally dangerous, but even more dangerous than that...there's that creeping sensation of numbness going up your arm, a pang through your chest, and the slow, slow freezing from the inside out.
Try not to leave any of your friends behind, okay? Even if they might look a bit too uncannily like some of the statues hanging around for decoration when they're frozen over.

[ CUDDLE WITH HER, ROCK. ]

They'll tentatively reach out a shaky hand to touch her shoulder through her coat, watching carefully for her reaction. They're aware that touching human's bare skin is painful for them given how their body is, but they don't know very much about how much the temperature seeps through clothes. ]
Fine. Here, can you feel that?
no subject
Not really!
no subject
You really can't? [ They're still watching for some sort of a reaction, while gratefully warming up their palm just from this. ] My human housemate gets so upset when I so much as graze her...
[ Then again, maybe it has to do with the thickness of the clothes... they don't know. ]

But your hand's also kind of heavy on its own.
[ Still, Maya isn't going to ask them to remove it. It doesn't hurt, even if it makes both shoulders sink down a little more to try and relieve some of the tension. ]

They don't mind accommodating; they're the immortal here after all. ]
I forgot... [ She says since her clothing is thick it's okay, so as long as they don't lean too much on her - it's fine to keep taking warmth, right? ] You humans are so light.
[ It's just a passing observation, mostly to take their mind off the cold.

[ Maya says it with a laugh, though. ]
It's interesting, isn't it? We kind of look alike, in the most basic sense, but we're also so completely different. That sort of thing is really fascinating to me.
[ Leech away, Cairngorm. ]

[ Cairngorm would contend that humans don't actually look a ton like gems, with how un-sparkly they are and the soft texture of their skin. Plus, they're all sorts of different heights and builds, unlike the identically lanky gems. ]
Are you really that interested in it?
no subject
Well, yeah. I think people are also interesting, so of course I'd think gems are right up there with being fascinating too. There's so much I don't know about you still!
no subject
What's there to be interested in humans when you are one? Shouldn't you know pretty much everything already.
no subject
Like for example, would you say I'm like Lupin?
no subject
[ except in weird taste in clothes!!! ]
But I'm not like other gems, either. That doesn't mean I'm "interested" in them.

[ Now there's a word they've never heard before. ]
What, is that your job or something?
no subject
[ She says so proudly. ]
I educate and provide dreams to others!
no subject
[ Catch this heavily skeptical look, Maya. ]
That does not sound like a real job.

[ They're taking her extremely literally here - what is anyone supposed to do with night visions........... ]
