t's very, very cold. It's cold enough that you'll see your breath fog in the air before you, that goosebumps appear on your arms and legs and a chill goes up your spine. You're inside, in a huge palace with sweeping arches and rooms, but it's no real shelter from the cold -- it's just as cold inside as out.
There's a throne room, a kitchen, various rooms and even a dungeon to be explored -- and outside, a frigid, frozen garden, a lake that's naturally frozen over, and miles, and miles of snow as far as the eye can see.
But be careful while you explore. The snowflake soldiers are naturally dangerous, but even more dangerous than that...there's that creeping sensation of numbness going up your arm, a pang through your chest, and the slow, slow freezing from the inside out.
Try not to leave any of your friends behind, okay? Even if they might look a bit too uncannily like some of the statues hanging around for decoration when they're frozen over.

[ Still rubbing at his face, looking a little embarrassed. ]
I mean, I’m not that smart, so I dunno if I’ll be able to figure anything out even if I knew ... but it might still help if I can pass it on to other people, so.

... To put it very simply, it's a story about a young boy who gets shards of a twisted mirror in his heart and eye, that cause him to become very hateful and to see only ugliness in everything he looked at, except snowflakes.
He's one day spirited away to the Palace of the Snow Queen, and his friend goes on a journey to save him, struggling through obstacles and tests in order to do so. She does eventually find him and kiss him, while crying, and is able to save him and take him back home.

You're right, that definitely matches those creepy mirrors. And seeing bad things in the mirror. So I guess that'd make this the palace of the Snow Queen? Though I don't think there was any Queen around ... and we have to, uh, kiss someone, then? And we'll get sent home?
[ Wait, that doesn't feel right. ]

[ Too bad, though, she can only imagine the hilarity of everyone kissing each other to get out of here. ]

[ It's not like he's a prude (god knows he's heard enough raunchy stories from the other soldiers to last a lifetime), but Jion can still feel his face warm up a little in embarrassment. He clears his throat before continuing, ]
Then, do you think this whole place is just one of those 'obstacles?' And we just have to survive it for a while?
no subject
[ ... poor Jion, this sweet, pure soul. ]

[ It's not even that he's not paying attention. But how do you not get distracted by such a casual mention of sirens. ]
Sirens? Like, as in, mermaids? And, uh, are we sure everyone here? Is there any chance there's only, like, a handful of people left behind that we haven't noticed yet?
no subject
[ Yeah. ]
And of course it's entirely possible... either way, there's too much we don't know yet. So we'll just have to delve into it!

I guess just getting an idea of what's going on is most important then, huh. I feel like, between everyone here, we've probably covered a lot of ground, but it's hard coordinating the information we have ... Too bad we don't have those laptops here. Or, just, any sort of phone system.

[ Who needs laptops and magazines, Maya Amano will just talk at everyone. ]

[ He's never actually met one before! Yet another cool person he's getting to meet thanks to Chroma. Jion is impressed and curious, but at least he doesn't immediately get distracted. ]
Um, okay! Then, can I help? I mean, I don't know anything about journalism, but I think I can get around this place alright -- those knights are pretty dangerous, but I can get by them, and if getting information around is important, I want to help.
no subject
[ And the more people who can evade knights and spread the word, the better. ]
no subject
[ He's totally earnest about all that, and there's a pause before he remembers to add, ] -- oh! And um, I'm Jion. Guess that might be good to know, huh?
no subject
[ And she's already cheerfully offering a hand for a shake. ]
no subject
[ He takes the offered hand, giving it a firm shake. ]
And, um, I'm a soldier, a medic. So if you need me to run past those knights or anything, don't hesitate, I can probably make it work. To be honest, I considered if maybe getting rid of all of them would get us out of here, but there was an awful lot of them, so ...

I think the problem with that is that we don't know whether or not there's an actual end to them. They could be linked to the snow outside, for all we know. So even if you destroyed them all, more might come back to take their places.
no subject
[ A small nod in self-admonishment. ]
Um, then, what do you think the priority should be? Just mapping the place out or something?
no subject
[ Maya does smile at him, a little sympathetically. ]
Your mindset's not bad, though. If you're not used to the bizarre happening, that sort of thing takes a lot of getting used to anyway, so don't feel too bad about it.
