t's very, very cold. It's cold enough that you'll see your breath fog in the air before you, that goosebumps appear on your arms and legs and a chill goes up your spine. You're inside, in a huge palace with sweeping arches and rooms, but it's no real shelter from the cold -- it's just as cold inside as out.
There's a throne room, a kitchen, various rooms and even a dungeon to be explored -- and outside, a frigid, frozen garden, a lake that's naturally frozen over, and miles, and miles of snow as far as the eye can see.
But be careful while you explore. The snowflake soldiers are naturally dangerous, but even more dangerous than that...there's that creeping sensation of numbness going up your arm, a pang through your chest, and the slow, slow freezing from the inside out.
Try not to leave any of your friends behind, okay? Even if they might look a bit too uncannily like some of the statues hanging around for decoration when they're frozen over.

Tonbokiri looks between the defeated soldiers and Archer, bewildered by what just happened.
... What did just happen?!
"Archer-dono, did you just fell them with music? And-" his head turns back to the former soldiers- "did they just turn into snow?"
no subject
“But yes.” To what? Both? Both. “They don’t appear to be human.”

He crouches down beside the pile of snow and pokes it with his spear.
"Ah, no, clearly not. Then, do you mean to say that you already suspected that there would be ... enchanted snow soldiers in this enchanted ice castle?"
Is that what this is? It does sound totally reasonable when he says it like that, doesn't it.

“It would be fitting, would it not? Enchanted castles are often guarded by such familiars. And it appears that our host is quite the curious one, to have been able to transport all of us to their lair and yet…”
He trails off, looking down at the fallen guardsmen. Yes, beating them was almost…too easy…
here, have a rescuee
But they're accompanied by what sounds like complaining along the way.
"Listen, I didn't show up here on purpose, I swear, I'm sure we can... work something out? Maybe? I-- oh, hey."
Ryan gets shoved around the corner just ahead of them, and as soon as the guards realize they're not alone they ready their weapons, one of them keeping a grip on him while Ryan gives them both an apologetic look.
"...I brought company? Sorry about that, but, um, a little help would be great here-"
woo!
Perhaps, logically, it would have been just as well to let Archer-dono take these soldiers down the way he'd defeated the others, but--
Tonbokiri is already moving, his spear moving in a powerful thrust past Farrow's shoulder and right into the chest of the soldier holding him.
Although it would be a mortal wound on a human, these things are made of snow. Who knows what their vital points are. So when the thing doesn't immediately release Farrow, Tonbokiri pulls out his spear and makes a quick slash, severing arm from torso. The arm falls away, turning into snow.
"Farrow-dono, get back." Tonbokiri also backs away from the other soldiers, spear held up defensively to cover them both. He doesn't know how Archer's music works, but it would do no harm to give the man a clear view.

“It will be over soon,” he adds, as if to reassure both Ryan and the guards. Then he plucks at his harp, sending invisible arrows flying after the other guardsmen converging around Tonbokiri and their quarry.
One snow knight attempting to swipe at Tonbokiri instantly gets pincushioned and crumples into a pile, its companion collapsing not long after while Tristan stays in the rear, strumming peacefully away without so much as a glance at the carnage.

He's already moving to get out of the way the moment that snow knight's grip on him disappears, ducking back to ensure the two of them have room to act without worrying about him. Ryan might not be able to fight very well, but he likes to consider it a skill to know when not to bother trying to do so.
-and it does seem like his rescuers have everything well in hand, if the way those knights are taken out is any indication. He's left watching, wide-eyed, glancing between the piles of snow and Tristan with more than a bit of awe.
"...guess I couldn't have run into a better pair than you guys, huh? What was that, actually? I don't think I've seen anything like it before."

Straightening his posture, he looks between his two comrades.
"Archer-dono has an amazing ability using music, doesn't he. I also have never seen the like." Although, something about how the soldiers had been felled is tickling the back of his mind. Something that he's seen many times before, but not like this.
But, he can put that aside for the moment to make a small introduction between the two men-
"Farrow-dono, this is Archer. I met him at the camp, and is a man of honourable character. Archer-dono, this is Ryan Farrow. He is now a roommate of mine, and is most kind-hearted and steadfast."

“I believe I do recall you, Mister Farrow. Were we not assigned to the same squad?” Never mind that Tristan had spent most of that meeting looking for all the world like he was busily and metaphorically sawing logs as Guren droned on.
Sorry this is the kind of guy you have to deal with from now on, buddy.

"-right, right, that's where I've seen you before! We just haven't really met outside of that, have we..."
And looking back to Tonbokiri, he adds, "If I knew you guys knew each other I'd have mentioned something about it already. Sorry we couldn't all get together under better circumstances, but you know--" A vague gesture at the snow left where those knights used to be. "Those guys are surprisingly hard to dodge?"
no subject
"Indeed, I wish it were a better situation as well. However, even negative circumstances can make for an incredibly positive meeting."
Such was the case in meeting Archer, after all.
Following Farrow's gesture, he nods. "We have found them to be very aggressive. However, they did not try to cut you down? It looked like you'd simply been captured."
He turns his gaze to Archer for a moment, seeking the man's thoughts. "Could it be they only attack those who present an obvious threat?"

That is, until he senses Tonbokiri addressing him anyway. Looking up, he regards Tonbokiri first before turning to Ryan: “Or perhaps they are willing to show mercy to those who have surrendered.”
After all, Ryan’s never struck him as a fighting man—which makes his position within the Defense Force all the more curious, but Tristan is not one to argue with Guren on that point.
