t's a regular morning here in the Town. The sun isn't shining at all, snow is falling like crazy, and...there may be the sounds of shouts coming from the well, thoroughly muffled. Okay, so it's not a regular morning at all, but you'd better go help those people! The newcomers are here again. Of course, once you get to the well, you'll notice that there's actually no real help you can offer -- it's totally frozen over. As for the newcomers, well... hopefully being suddenly dumped into freezing cold water in the middle of November in a dark, damp well is your idea of a good time, because that's your life now! And that's not even taking into account the mirrors in everyone's homes that are about to wake up and start chattering... Welcome to Awash's thirteenth event log, everyone! Mm, just about. I think it had a lot to do with how pure her heart was and her belief that things would be okay, or something like that. Kisses sure are powerful things, though, aren't they?

I wouldn't know. My kind don't do that. [ ITS WEIRD!! Sort of. It's probably not as weird when you're all soft and squishy like humans are, which is why kissing them is the only time when it's okay for gems. ] Do you think something like that would ever work in this place?

[ It seems so...abstract, and non-realistic. Then again, that's kind of a running theme around here. ]

... Yeah, probably. I think because it's this place that it's extremely likely to work if it comes to that.

[ Personally, they'd prefer to get some concrete evidence before they go around trying to kiss people and stuff like that. ]

I'm sure something will happen to those who break their mirrors. It'd be convenient if the solution was as simple as it is in this text, but I doubt it'll be just that... this place hasn't ever exactly made things easy for us.

It might have some part in it, at least. Let's keep it in mind, just in case-- though there's no saying that we need to actually consider that our only option if something happens.

What about "tears"? I don't know what that is.

Tears... um, they're what come out of your eyes when you're in pain or very sad.

Salt water. Kind of like the ocean, only warm and a whole lot less water.

[ Don't mind their slightly grossed out expression, Maya. They think they've seen pictures of that in books, though of course without having it explained, it's a bit hard to understand it fully. ]

Humans generate salt water... from their eyes. [ When they're upset or sad. Sounds extremely fake, but okay. ] I can't do that, obviously. It says here that that's a part of it too...

[ Saving people, that is. They guess they'll just have to rely on the first method, if it comes to that, regardless of how strange they find it. ]

Is doing that painful?

Not really? It'll make your eyes feel sore if you cry too much, but it doesn't really hurt.

[ ... yeah, it's pretty weird when you think about it, huh. ]

[ "Sore".... that must be some type of pain. But the hum, glad they're at least learning something out of this. ]

Then I guess people would prefer to do that, instead.

[ Maybe? If it's not painful and doesn't carry the weight kissing does in a lot of fairytales...but who knows!! ]
