Event Thirteen.

To love a human face was to discover
The cracks of paint and varnish on the brow;
Soon to distrust all impulses of flesh
That strews its sawdust on the chamber floor,
While at the window peer two crones
Who once were Juliet and Jessica.

t's a regular morning here in the Town. The sun isn't shining at all, snow is falling like crazy, and...there may be the sounds of shouts coming from the well, thoroughly muffled.

Okay, so it's not a regular morning at all, but you'd better go help those people! The newcomers are here again. Of course, once you get to the well, you'll notice that there's actually no real help you can offer -- it's totally frozen over.

As for the newcomers, well... hopefully being suddenly dumped into freezing cold water in the middle of November in a dark, damp well is your idea of a good time, because that's your life now!

And that's not even taking into account the mirrors in everyone's homes that are about to wake up and start chattering...

Welcome to Awash's thirteenth event log, everyone! Further information on this event can be found here at the OOC post. Please keep in mind that while this is a general event log, it is also an intro log; be sure to pay plenty of attention to our newcomers!

If there are any questions, please ask them here. Thank you!

[It's best not to try and understand Homestuck, Jion. John doesn't even fully understand it all half the time...]

Something like that. [There's an equally sheepish grin.] Some of them weren't on great terms with us but all of the ones who've been here are ones that helped us out a lot...even if they were kind of insane.

[Terezi was a Mess. Vriska continues to be a Mess. But John will take them over, say, a serial killer juggalo troll.] But now I kind of wonder if any of us have ended up here with our enemies at all.

[ Jion makes a face at that thought. Not that he really has specific enemies, but the thought of ending up here with someone he’s had to shoot at on the battlefield is ... distressing. ]

That wouldn’t be great, huh. Especially since this place isn’t exactly huge or anything. You’d probably bump into them before long, even if you knew to avoid them, and then it’d get really uncomfortable, or you’d end up fighting or something ... Oh, but.

[ A small frown as he thinks back. ]

I feel like someone told me that negative bonds apparently still count as bonds, and still helps this place get color back? So maybe it has happened, if someone figured that out? Geez ...

Wait, really? [That's definitely surprising news and he isn't even sure how to feel about that.] Man. They must not be that picky about bonds then. Maybe it's just emotions in general that's bringing the color back?

But you're right. This place doesn't seem to be expanding any time soon even though more of us keep showing up. I wonder if the negative bond colors are just as permanent as the other ones.

Oh, um! Don’t take my word for it though! I haven’t been here that long after all, and it’s just something I think I heard, and I might be remembering wrong, it’s not like my memory is perfect!

[ Jion immediately looks a little fretful at John’s surprise, flapping a hand in denial. ]

But I mean ... I think it would make sense, though. It’s not as if everyone can always get along with everyone, that’s just not how things work out. Some people just have to clash. And if the town’s just sucking up people from all over the place, I think it would be really unfair if it expected everyone to always agree. ... although I guess that’s me working under the assumption that things here are supposed to be fair. Hm.

[He raises an eyebrow.] Dude, it's okay. Even if you are misremembering it isn't a bad thing to think about. Maybe it really does actually mean something.

I doubt things are supposed to be fair, you're right, but I do sort of wonder if the town wants to challenge us by making us figure out how to get along and agree and be united instead of...you know. Being ourselves. It would explain a lot about the nature of the quests and stuff that happens here.
