t's a regular morning here in the Town. The sun isn't shining at all, snow is falling like crazy, and...there may be the sounds of shouts coming from the well, thoroughly muffled. Okay, so it's not a regular morning at all, but you'd better go help those people! The newcomers are here again. Of course, once you get to the well, you'll notice that there's actually no real help you can offer -- it's totally frozen over. As for the newcomers, well... hopefully being suddenly dumped into freezing cold water in the middle of November in a dark, damp well is your idea of a good time, because that's your life now! And that's not even taking into account the mirrors in everyone's homes that are about to wake up and start chattering... Welcome to Awash's thirteenth event log, everyone! [Watching Achoo gives him something to think about, but also. Ah. Riiight, right.]

It's sort of like a digital notebook? [Wait, does Beka know what those are? Just how far back and away is she from?] All of us have them so we can communicate with each other and post messages back and forth. Typing can be a little tricky but you get used to it after a while. It's also how we learn about the quests each month that help bring color back to this place.

I think I saw something like that in my room, but I didn't know what it was, so I figured it'd be better to do some exploring first. Gotta know the place you're at afore you can try to do anything 'bout it, right?

Folk keep saying stuff about quests and color and such, but I'm no mage or anything. How's someone like me supposed to help bring color to things?

[expulsions]

Not a bad strategy. [He and Annabeth immediately scouted when they first got here, so he can't fault anybody for that.] I'm not sure how it all works, but there's somebody or something watching us complete these quests that are assigned to us every month. The more we complete them, the more color starts showing up in this town. And then there's always the town's way of keeping us busy outside of that. We figured it wants us to bond with each other or something.

[He's not thrilled with how often the town screws things up, but whatever.]

It sounds like some sort of tale. Something y'tell children 'bout to explain how the world works or something. [She shrugs and sighs]

Wish that was all it was. But I suppose there's not much worth in fighting against it.

[expulsions]

Oh yeah, no, we are absolutely in fairytale central. Nobody's figured out why, but if you check out the quest post on the forum it's telling us a story, too. I'm pretty sure none of us wanted to be characters in someone else's tale but that's sort of where we're at.

Some people have been fighting against it by not doing anything about it, but most of us figured there's nothing else to do here so why not? The quests aren't bad and this place is huge enough to explore if that's something you're into.

I like exploring. Achoo does too. [The dog woofs in agreement]

'Cides, I gotta say that doing nothing seems kinda pointless. That's never accomplished anything anywhere.

Tell me about it. [Being idle is one of his least favorite things.] Sounds like you and Achoo are going to fit right in.

I suppose that's good t'know. Thanks for being so helpful. With the fire and the questions and all.

Sure. I'd be happy to do it again if you ever needed it. Kind of hoping the snow stops sometime soon, but we're always going to have questions in this place.
